I’m from Florida so I get to see lots birds in the rail family. Coot babies (I call them cooties) are the funniest thing! In the spring, little black bald puffballs with looooong green legs run around my backyard. Their feet look like shoes that are way too big for them. Their call reminds me of the sound of a rubber duck when you squeeze it in the bath. I am very fond of them.
Ohmy so many Coots on our lakes 😊 and it's so difficult for the chicks to survive. How is that possible !. They must have a super power 😉. Awesome bird !.
I enjoy seeing coots and the drama behind their hatching, wow! Crazy. I wonder how often the food is so good that they don't have to cull any.... Great vid!
Great video I like your narrative voice I'm going to have to do a deep dive and find out why some older people are named old Coots😅😅😅 maybe you can tell me ...
Good presentation. American Coots are all over the waterways in the Central Valley of California along the Pacific flyway. I never really cared for them- now after watching your video, I care for them less.. didn’t I also see some Gadwall ducks in your opening video?
Okay this is so well done! The script is great, informative without being boring. And the footage!!!!! It's top tier!! This was so interesting

Here in Florida, coots are quite common (along with moorhens)! And of course, very cute!
My wife just saw some coots while kayaking! Excellent video, thanks for posting.
Birbs that are round and plump indeed 😊

I never knew about Coots. They're so interesting! I am so happy to come across this video!
That was so interesting. What beautiful footage. Thank you!
They're actually closer related to seagulls than ducks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gruimorphae

Good information - amazing
50 years of bird watching and… I had no idea. Thank you for your research.
It took me by surprise as well!

Thank you! I double checked, but I think it's just wigeons. It's a little hard to tell with the lighting, though.
Jeeze, nature is a bitch, huh? 😢
