Correct me if I'm wrong, but consideration of "degree of control" of an ALL BALL tackle does not seem like any consideration for justifying a foul. Literally no player to player contact suggests he was fully in control.
@@matthewjmcnaughton Now rewind a couple of minutes to the uncarded studs to thigh...wait, Farsi rescinded yellow...that just ended with a handshake to Biscuits

*Almost waist high, studs into the thigh* Andrew: Hold on let me check the jersey. It's Miami? Nah all good here, let me just come up with some tapdancing bullshit to "excuse" a literal textbook red card foul.
How will Miami not win the Cup? Don Garber once stated the MLS will never allow a "NY Cosmos" type team to exist, yet here we have just that with Miami and Messi. The Cup boils down to three teams, Miami, Columbus, or LAFC. The rest are playoff cannon fodder.
I'm confused about the Gauld play. If it isn't clear and obvious then why would it be called back as no goal? Ref was in front of the play has perfect sight of the Gauld "tackle". Should've been a goal because it wasn't clear and obvious at all
Just because it isn't 100% clear and obvious to Wiebe doesn't mean that's how the VAR sees it (and the VAR would have additional camera angles). Frankly, I don't see what Wiebe's on about. Also, it looks to me like the ref is straight-lined on this play - the leg that was kicked blocks the view of the kicking leg.
@@johnmcgimpsey1825 Yeah, if you watch Inside Video Review, the first thing the VAR ref shows the center referee is a point of contact. Without that, I can't imagine they would have gone to review.
Wouldve liked to see a discussion of the two possible offside goals in the charlotte chicago match, as one seemed pretty clearly offsides. Maybe i missed something
We spent a whole minute on a clear Dogso in Atlanta, and started the show with clear calls in LA that no one cares about, but we didnt even touch Guido spending 10 minutes to be talked in to a penalty in NYCFC v FCC? This show serves no other purpose than to push the league's narrative and bury the real controversial calls.
I have a question. At 2:45 you can see the official with the best point of view to see the contact. When the official goes to VAR can he use his memory and add that to what the video shows?
Yes the referee will often say "I saw it from a better angle live" or something along those lines, for example in the "inside video review" episode where dujic gave the red for VC, that was his explanation for why the call stood. His angle on the field was better than the ones the cameras had.
I think your wording on the Gauld challenge could be more precise. If the referee deemed that as a kick or a trip, then no contact is required for there to be a foul. Still seems soft to me though.
The ref's initial call was no foul, good goal - there's a replay that shows the ref was in pretty good position to make a call, had there been a foul. I think VAR made a mistake flagging it for review, since the replay angle doesn't actually show the contact so we don't know if it's a trip, kick, dive by Sang-bin, etc., but I am a Whitecaps fan so probably biased. I'll be interested to see PRO's analysis when it comes out.
At 3:27 although the VAR video show no view from the opposite side, the Referee was looking at the play from the opposite side and the Ref made the call on the field. Good call by the ref. Thanks for these videos.
I appreciate hearing the perspective about these different plays on their own, but I'd like to propose something for future editions. Would it be helpful to compare why one play gets called one way, but a second play gets called differently? Compare the Busquets - Farsi call, where no card is issued, and the Nealis - Mosquera call, where there's a red card. What is different between them? In neither play does Busquets / Nealis intentionally jump in on their opponent, they are both looking at the ball. But one gets a red card, and one gets nothing. What are the reasons, from a referee's perspective, why the calls play out differently?
I haven’t even watched the video yet but I know they are going to agree with the call on Sergio. They will say it wasn’t a red card offense. Even he knew it was a red. That’s why after the play he shook hands with the ref thanking him. It’s pathetic what Is I get a way with. They needed them to wrap of the shield so they have an excuse to hand them the World Cup spot. Guarantee if they didn’t win it, they would wait till after MLS cup to see if a Miami win. If they did, that would be the deciding factor. If they didn’t win either, they would go with the winner of leagues cup 2023 or just straight up say Miami are getting because of a Messi and money Edit: just watched. Lol. I knew it. I had a lot of respect for you. Even was upset I didn’t meet you at MLS cup. Well that respect is now gone. It’s obvious your trying to keep your job by not speaking out about the favoritism the league and refs give Miami. No other possible reason for saying that’s not a red on Sergio. Pathetic Wieble
Atlanta PK: The left leg looks to be coming up without contact there and before any upper body contact indicating the attacker was going down no matter what. That said, this isn't anywhere near clear enough for VAR to get involved. VAR needs to stick to their duty and stop trying to re-referee the calls. They've overstepped more and more this year. I love that the center referees are shutting them down.
Listen, I know that the Quakes are the Wooden Spoon winners of this year but how are you going to ignore the foul on Daniel by Arriola, which should have been a red. Studs werent shown, but off the ground flying into the challenge. if youre going to be doing this series then do all the moments, even if the team is trash. and stop being so biased towards the teams that bring in the money and have the stars. ie LA & Miami
Yeah, you missed the challenge on Bukari. The tackle was coming from behind and contact was made right below the knee...I don't know how many times I have seen this kinda challenge end careers. I feel like not giving a red on this challenge, escalated tension and the ref immediately lost control of the game from then on.
MLS Instant Replay: We will talk about when refs make mistakes and try to showcase missed calls. Unless those calls negatively impact Columbus, in which case those are perfectly fine plays, no problem, carry on.
These Instant Replay segments are almost impossible to watch. Change the colors of the shirts from yellow to pink and the commentary and analysis are reversed. It is clear that MLS has completely gone clown shoes. Just give Miami the MLS cup today. It is abundantly obvious who the accountants want to win
To all the geniuses saying that last challenge made no contact. Look at 7:20 in slow motion. You CLEARLY see the entire sole of the foot make contact with the Miami players shin. You people are beyond belief. And regardless of the contact, you think a player flying in with a straight locked leg studs exposed shouldnt get any card just because the player had to jump 3 feet in the air to avoid it and therefore didn’t make contact. Good lord
@@grumpus5248 you can LITERALLY see the sole of the foot shift positions when it makes contact with the shin at 7:20. I don’t give a crap about Miami or the MLS but use your eyes
@@Not_a_smart_man I am using my eyes, but also my brain. No contact was made with the player. Camacho made more contact with the ball and the ground than the player. The player sold it and you bought it.
Busquets hit the ball and then columbus player kicked him before Busquets gets in his leg... So the yelow card should get Columbus player, first learn about the rules...
I love how some of these red and yellow cards are absolutely ridiculous. There are a couple of times when those yellows and reds wouldn’t even be cards in England. MLS is soft and dull. No wonder Europeans think our soccer is a joke.
'He doesn't extend his leg into Farsi, and his studs are down' Oh, you mean except for the thumbnail, where his leg is clearly extended into Farsi and his studs are clearly up? Cool.
I'm disappointed to see the vitriol about the Sergio explainer here. To me, it had looked like a red-card-worthy foul live in real time, but better angles and slow-mo with VAR shows the opposite. Sergio got the ball, his kick wasn't especially high or dangerous, and as his foot was about to contact the other player he bent his knee and was pulling away from the impact. I understand the urge to hate on Miami (they aren't my favorite team either), but this particular call is a weak one to go all in on.
The only one where I disagree is the DOGSO in Atlanta vs RBNY game. I understand why it was called on the field, but if I were VAR, I'm sending the ref to the monitor. The attacker is looking for that, and only that. He jumped awkwardly and fell. Yes, there was contact, but that contact did not affect the angle of the attacker's leg or how he was going to land. That's not a foul. I'd book him for simulation. He denied himself of his own goalscoring opportunity.
For me, this is the exact type of case VAR needs to stay out of. It's a guess either way. There was contact which, I think, helped bring the attacker down. I don't believe it's as obvious one way or the other that there is an error. In slow motion it looks like the attacker didn't bring his right leg forward as naturally as he could have if he were intent on running, but he also had to slow up his run to jump and chest that. So it's all just guessing. VAR rightfully didn't try to re-referee the game and allowed the call on the field to stand.
@@C-D14 I completely understand where you’re coming from, but I’m still sticking with my original opinion. I paused the video when the attacker jumped and before any contact from the defender was made, and I don’t see any way the attacker was even attempting to land on his feet. It’s obvious to me that the intent behind that jump was only to fall. That’s a dive and a yellow for simulation.
Columbus fans are the worst. You’d think that since their team was first, they’d learn the rules by now. But no, everything is everyone else’s fault but theirs. Their player gets to a ball second and runs into the foot that won it, foul on the other player. Their front office tries to stiff their MLS Next Pro keepers on their collectively bargained rights? The league are the bad guys for not letting them do it.
The miami hate is hilarious, it's fascinating how bias can contort the eyes into seeing something that didn't happen. Busquets kicks the ball, the player kicks up into Busquets studs. Keep those thumbs in your mouths.

The league is a complete joke. No point in playing Miami. Your going to get screwed. They need them to win MLS cup so they are going too. It won’t be deserved though. It would be crazy if they don’t when their salary budget is more than every single team combined.
Any time you show your studs and you end up ailing a player like that you have to expect a red.
Both fouls in the Miami Columbus match should have earned strait reds for those tackles
i just dont understand what hes supposed to do in order avoid that after winning the ball?
@@benjaminforeman9317 in winning the ball he maid a dangerous play. He has to take that into account when he decides to make that play. Just being first to the ball does not allow you to destroy your opponent.
@@robblincoln2152 right, because in the very next clip, Camacho fully wins the ball, but still gets yellow despite never touching the other player. Like, how'd Bisquick skate by with just a handshake instead of a card?
@@grumpus5248 $$$
Lmao the Miami glazing is unreal. I guess they are just allowed to go studs up into any player now. The precedent has been set.
The worst part is Wiebe literally said, "No, Camacho doesn't catch the player" but that Camacho deserved the foul...
What in the heck is this imaginary foul circus?!
cope
Literally not what happened though?
Ah yes ofc… Miami 4th in most yellow cards conceded, 11th in most red cards conceded, 6th in most penalties conceded and they only got 1 pen whole season. But but but Miami needs to win!!!!!! 🤯
@@prime157don’t need contact for the foul. Studs up tackle/attempt is nearly always carded, regardless of contact. Also a horrendous no-call on the Busquets play. Just awful to try and justify that.
5:10 - Andrew, you looked at this wrong. That should be the easiest part of being a VAR. You can't tell. It doesn't matter what feeling you have. You can't tell and have no video evidence. At this point, your job is done. It's not your job to guess in the slightest.

that’s what i’m saying. there was no contact to the player at all
@@bpizzle28716 fr
He put his opponent in danger by sliding in with studs exposed. It's a preventative measure, in the same way that time-wasting gets a yellow card.
Ted Unkle once again let a match get out of control.
Regarding the Busquets Farsi collision: Busquets CLEARLY exposes his studs. Into Farsi’s thigh. It doesn’t matter that they were both going for the ball. Busquets is a legend who should have received a red card for a dangerous play. Doesn’t matter if he got the ball.
6:35 lol you smoking rocks. He wins the ball with his laces up and the Columbus player lifts his thigh into biscuit’s studs. Clear as day in the replays.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around how Farsi was called for the foul??!!
@@A4000”lifts his thigh into Biscuit’s studs.” Wow. Nope. “Biscuit” is definitely how he shall be called from now on. Just because he won the ball doesn’t mean that it’s not a foul. Biscuits is being careless and reckless with that kick on a 50/50 ball. Which constitutes a foul. You can’t go in that high and in a forward motion aggressively without putting the other player in danger. Silly reckless, old man biscuits was about to get beat, and he knew it.

Everything in the Galaxy Austin game was a consequence of shite refereeing
One would have thought that a video to review controversial decisions might actually contain at least one controversial decision .. but, no :/
"he doesn't expose his studs" ... as video shows studs embed themselves in player's thigh :/
And here I thought Biro's tackle was the worst offense of the week... absolutely despicable spitting on an opponent.
*Almost waist high, studs into the thigh*
Andrew: Hold on let me check the jersey.
What about the Galaxy?
I don't support the Galaxy myself, but they are 1st in the west and beat LAFC recently.
1:21 Biro tried to go full Brian Mullan on that one.
I'll be interested to see PRO's analysis when it comes out.
biro is the definition of a child after doing that just because he’s eliminated from the playoffs now
He could have ended the guys career: see Steve Zakuani
At 3:27 although the VAR video show no view from the opposite side, the Referee was looking at the play from the opposite side and the Ref made the call on the field. Good call by the ref. Thanks for these videos.
I want to see the foul on Esmir in the NE revs game.... it really looked inside the box
Just check which jersey they are wearing. That's the difference.
They do this from time to time this year and in the past.
Why didn't you guys show the fight between ATL and red bull players???
Don’t want to encourage hokey games to beak out on soccer pitches
I haven’t even watched the video yet but I know they are going to agree with the call on Sergio. They will say it wasn’t a red card offense. Even he knew it was a red. That’s why after the play he shook hands with the ref thanking him. It’s pathetic what Is I get a way with. They needed them to wrap of the shield so they have an excuse to hand them the World Cup spot. Guarantee if they didn’t win it, they would wait till after MLS cup to see if a Miami win. If they did, that would be the deciding factor. If they didn’t win either, they would go with the winner of leagues cup 2023 or just straight up say Miami are getting because of a Messi and money
Edit: just watched. Lol.

Yeah, you missed the challenge on Bukari. The tackle was coming from behind and contact was made right below the knee...I don't know how many times I have seen this kinda challenge end careers. I feel like not giving a red on this challenge, escalated tension and the ref immediately lost control of the game from then on.
Screw Austin and your tin pot club, Biro needs to be banned from the league.
MLS Instant Replay: We will talk about when refs make mistakes and try to showcase missed calls. Unless those calls negatively impact Columbus, in which case those are perfectly fine plays, no problem, carry on.
Clear red for the Biro tackle. Course, there was a worse tackle onto Bukari minutes earlier that didn’t even get a yellow, but yaknow.
Exactlyyyy but since it was an LA team…
I don’t care. The entire game Austin tackled us and only got 1 red
And also from what I heard Austin does this in other games
That looked like it hurt

To all the geniuses saying that last challenge made no contact. Look at 7:20 in slow motion. You CLEARLY see the entire sole of the foot make contact with the Miami players shin. You people are beyond belief. And regardless of the contact, you think a player flying in with a straight locked leg studs exposed shouldnt get any card just because the player had to jump 3 feet in the air to avoid it and therefore didn’t make contact. It doesn’t matter. It’s a foul either way, per the rules.
You forgot the Inter Miami goal that the female referee flagged as offside ... it was an own goal ... shame on her
Busquets hit the ball and then columbus player kicked him before Busquets gets in his leg... So the yelow card should get Columbus player, first learn about the rules...

Slow motion bias, Weibe. Pathetic.
😂 The Atlanta player should be ejected for acting.
Unfortunately, Columbus fans are incapable of logic or critical thinking.
Great job completely avoiding the second studs up, two footed tackle by Sergio on Cucho 🤣
They aren't even trying to hide it anymore. Inter MyMoney
lol. This is a joke
Very easy to see the Miami favoritism here…..
You guys watching understand how much money Miami brings to the MLS right? lol of course they can get away with whatever they want
Are you gonna cry everytime?
Columbus fans are the worst. You’d think that since their team was first, they’d learn the rules by now.
But no, everything is everyone else’s fault but theirs.
Their player gets to a ball second and runs into the foot that won it, foul on the other player.
Their front office tries to stiff their MLS Next Pro keepers on their collectively bargained rights? The league are the bad guys for not letting them do it.
I think he shouldn't get it at all.
Im seeing a lot of haters here
I'm Groot 😂😂😂😂
The miami hate is hilarious, it's fascinating how bias can contort the eyes into seeing something that didn't happen. Busquets kicks the ball, the player kicks up into Busquets studs. Keep those thumbs in your mouths.
