Was fantastic if not much harder than I anticipated! Next time I won’t be borrowing my sister in laws bike! 😂

I have so much emotional baggage on this one. A friend of mine did the archipelago ring road on Longboard, just before dying of cancer at 30. He was inspired by my Longboard escapades abroad, but knew his time was running late. I later did the whole thing as a tribute, but never posted anywhere about it. I was heavily depressed at the time, it was therapy for me and just a place to pay respects to my friend.
Years later I joined a foreign long distance longboarder some way along the route. He had come a long way to skate the route. I joined him for 30km of the first leg. From Turku harbour to Parainen. I was way out of shape and was riding my DH board instead of my long distance one. We still had good time.

I'm so sorry to hear about the emotional weight that the archipelago route carries for you. It's humbling and inspiring to know that it served as a form of therapy and a tribute to your friend. Thank you for sharing such a deeply personal story with me, and thank you for coming over from Reddit to comment on the video. It means a lot that you took the time to watch and share your experiences. The journey and its challenges carry different meanings for each of us, and your story adds another layer of depth to it. Thanks again for your openness.

@@liveandgrow Commenting really wasn't that big of a deal for me, since I genuinely think that this was a great video. The wild plants were a twist for sure, but an interesting and welcome twist as they come.
I still think that the Ring Road is one of the most beautiful ways to see Finland and I'm glad you got to experience it. For me it holds a special significance, because of my friend.

Pouring rain and tons of mosquitoes- you really got to experience the best of Finnish summertime! 🙈😂
