2 weeks without washing my hair is very disgusting, I have curly hair I wash it every two days, this woman's hair was full of dandruff and stinking, shameful.
I think he enjoyed the process which is why he didn't want to leave, he took the challenge and did it, now he can add this to his portfolio. You gave him a gift by allowing him to do your hair.
@@marathonbleu idk who the „y’all” you’re referring to is, but I do appreciate black hairstylists just as much as any others, if not more. People like Annagjid from Deeper Than Hair TV can do real magic, and their work really does help people. The hairstylist in this video is doing his best with hair he’s never worked on before, and black hairstylists are doing their best on hair they’re used to. I think there’s definitely enough space to support and appreciate both!
I think its a good trait for a hairdresser to realize they cannot handle certain tasks and be up front about it as opposed to just winging it and making a mess. He did great though!
Same. I realize that this could have been a mess if someone else wasn’t there. I’ve seen way to many vids in America where the hairstylist completely messed up a black persons hair cause they didn’t know what to do. But yea, I’m really glad this didn’t turn into one of those vids
Yeah black people hair is not easy to handle if you don't know what you're doing. My daughter's are mixed and it took some time to learn about how to do their hair. I actually like their hair best when it's naturally curly instead of flat ironed.
i agree that if they cannot do it they should let you know and if you are afraid to let them touch it then go elsewhere, but after that they should go take a course and learn how to do it so they can expand their customer base
@@misspiggyASMR You do realise he will barely ever see a black person there dear?! Outside of the U.S Military types who tend not to hv long hair..🤗💜🙏💜
You both were a good sport for this appointment. The fact that he accepted the challenge and you were willing to be ridiculed or judged and posted online anyway. You're both brave for it. You have beautiful hair, by the way. God bless you
Yeah! He moved up to top beautician after that day. They gave him a raise and said he is the best of them all. His name is going around in all salons now.
@@KerrasJournal You should invest in the Rev Air dryer. It will cut the time in half. Each piece that you put in the dryer will only be for 90 seconds or less. Give it a thought. They even made it affordable to purchase.
@@Maderlololohio Thas my GIRL! I love her videos too! I don't think the voltage isn't as high there, like the heat tools don't go to the same temps we have here in North America and Europe, who KNOWS??? I DO know she got some HEAT damage and lost a LOT of hair behind that visit. I thought she'd speak up more and TELL them to section her hair and THEN detangle it in smaller pieces and straighten it in smaller pieces. She lost too much hair for my taste. They saw her hair and FORGOT all their formal training! lol! I was like NOOOOOOOOO! Step 1 is always to SECTION the hair in quadrants!!!! That's UNIVERSAL... she keeps her hair braided so I think it'll recover FAST. Her hair itself is beautiful!
I am just glad that he didn’t try to cut it off or stick chemicals in it to make it thinner. Your hair looks healthy! Definitely keep going back to this guy because you can tell her only get better with time.
He did really well, even in Nigeria, if you walked into the saloon with all that hair, the stylists would be a bit scared. They'll do the hair well, but the entire time the whole saloon will remind you of how long and full your hair is.
Dang. Honestly I’d take that as a compliment. I have an undercut (and a dramatic one) and if someone said my hair was full and long that would just make me happy. And please don’t relax your hair- it’s not that healthy for t
Your politeness was the best part. Some would've been bitching as if the hairdresser is the problem. You made me feel very proud my dear and your hair is lovely.
@@janiyaharielle8964 You have to take into account the general diversity of an area. For example, in an African country with a little population of straight hair people, how many hairdressers would bother to learn how to do straight hair? In Korea, where the main demographic are Asians, you shouldn't automatically expect that they would have education nor plentiful experience in dealing with curlier hair. Heck...if a Korean has naturally wavy hair, the hairdresser normally suggest for it be straightened as it is seen as normal.
I think it has something to do with the iron machine itself cause I jus watched a black hair dresser yesterday do basically the same thing and they only passed once which came out way better
Those irons are made for “Asian” hair, which is normally already straight so they actually don’t get that hot like the ones in the US can. They max out at lower temperatures.
Right that's when he gained my respect. He was hesitant but not rude to her. He let her know this is going to be a challenge but he's proactive about it. The topping on the cake???? Can we also talk about how kind, polite, and understanding this woman is? She's aware of the culture barrier and so understanding towards them for not having the experience and the right tools for her hair type. I probably wouldn't brush her hair like that, but she took it like a champ and was so understanding. Props to the hair stylist for not rejecting her and doing a great job and props to her for her beautiful personality 👏
"cultural barrier" fck that hair is hair. if you call yourself a "hair dresser" you should know how to do ALL hair types no matter where you live. there are 2 types of hair is this world it should be easy to learn both
@@wlnyuh2330 woke up on the wrong side of the bed? 😂 pretty sure there are some things other people expect you to know but you don't and you're probably not aware of them either. This is in a country that barely have people with that same texture so they wouldn't even think that they would need to learn it. A little open mindedness and understanding goes a long way. Now it would be a different story if this was in America. Things aren't just black and white buddy
@@wlnyuh2330 in a country where 99% of people are ethnicity Korean… the hairstyles should learn how do all hair? How would they learn and most of them would never have a client who had 4c hair? Foreigners account for about 3.5% of the population in Korea - but Chinese’s nationals account for more than 50% of Korean immigrants. And most the remaining immigrants are from Southeast and central Asia, lastly (mostly white) Americans account for the 3rd group which is about 6% of immigrants. So there’s a basically immeasurablely small group of Afro-Koreans who are biracial and even smaller of non Korean African descent population. Is it really realistic hairdressers would learn about hair they would most likely never work on?
@@wlnyuh2330 You sound incredibly naive and dumb as hell. First of all, I don’t know if you think everywhere in the world is like the United States but let me wake you up since apparently you’ve been living in La La Land; Korea is NOT a diverse place just as a lot of other Asian countries aren’t! Their population is 99% Korean (It is, google is free). They don’t have people of other races/ethnicities walking into their doorsteps everyday. It’s extremely rare. Why would they know how to do the hair of someone who is not from their country especially when their country is no where near diverse? You’d rather make this an issue instead of being realistic and seeing the world for what it is. The United States is not the entire world and the world doesn’t revolve around it. Not every place is known as a “Melting Pot” of different cultures. Not every place is diverse and will know how to deal with something they’ve never experienced. Not to mention you were dumb enough to say “there are two types of hair in this world” Gtfoh. There are well over 2 types of hair that 7 billion people have. Stfu and be real for 5 seconds, please and thank you 🥴🤦🏽♀️
Girl he could not stop running his fingers through your hair. That count of how many time he ran that flat iron to your roots was hilarious lol. Thay did an amazing job
It's because the flat iron is made for 'Asian hair which is already naturally straight so the temp wouldn't be hot so in order to get it straight he had to go through alot

I was in a foster home and this girl let me put tracks in her hair (I'm as white as they come!) We were poor and not allowed to go anywhere, so she just walked me through the process as I was doing it and we were both pleasantly surprised! I did a pretty good job my first time and she said she had a hard time doing it herself, so it worked out! There's definitely a culture barrier. All we have to do is communicate and understand each other.
Tracks are very easy to do though.. very very easy.. just glueing that’s all.. I think the culture barrier seems bigger than it actually is. Tracks and black hair and all of that it’s culture yes, but it isn’t impossible or hard to learn.. I feel like people try to make it seem harder than is

I’m so happy with this comment section. I expected to see people dogging him for not having experience with a hair type he isn’t exposed to. Being Understanding is much better than blind rage.
Be understanding on both sides tho. Don't criticize her hair and call it Dumbo. That comment would have been hurtful to me as a customer. Black women have gone thru enough with our hair. We don't need anymore negative comments disguised as jokes.
@@theblacknationnews he was describing it as dumbo to metaphorically explain how big(fluffy/volume) her hair is. Having big hair can be a compliment as saying you have a lot of healthy fuller hair that makes it look big rather than thin low density hair. Ppl with thin straight hair still uses methods such as “teasing” their hair so their hair can look more fuller or bigger. I’m not dismissing that we get made fun of for our hair cuz we still do but in this case here I don’t believe he was being passive aggressive. If he thinks of her hair negatively I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t bother doing her hair, he admitted that he doubt he could do it at first but still tried which shows he actually had interest in doing her hair and shows how much passion he has for doing hair in general.
@@theblacknationnews He wasn't critisizing her hair or making fun of it. He was making a light joke at that point because with their work on her hair they had made it so incredibly fluffy and thick. He wasn't making fun of her hair or her as a person, he wasn't laughing AT her but WITH her about the work they had done on her hair and what it made it look like.
Your pain tolerance must be top notch because the way they combed through your hair....I had to look away for a second lol 😭 but the end results were beautiful ✨

I think people are obsessed with policing black women and their hair, especially if their hair is long, majority of the time it is probably out of jealousy. The whole thing with black women only having to do certain things with their hair because of the toxic natural hair community is annoying.

Never in my life did I have any idea what black girls go through with their hair. My hair has always been limp, not curly, not straight, thin and basically ugly and unmanageable. But this hair is so different. I have a little granddaughter who is black. She has the cutest little springy hair I've ever seen and my white daughter does wonders with it. This is such an eye opener for me.
@Fe Caldwell I DO! Always good to learn something new. My little granddaughter is the sweetest, smartest, most beautiful little creature. Thank you for your kind words!
My daughter's hair was crazy one morning, I was running late for work and told my husband it was his job to fix her hair for preschool 😬,, he did what he could I suppose. At work I was absent minded thinking of my baby's hair, a costumer asked and I told her my worries,,, she understood, smiled and gave me advise about products and tricks for my daughter's hair (pink lotion was the thing many years ago) I followed her advise and it became easier for my daughter and I when doing her hair. I knew nothing about very curly- really full hair,, that lady was an angel in disguise 😊

I usually use oil and heat protectant. If you're okay with however they do your hair I suggest you add some oil and anti frizz yourself when they're done. Then put your hair in braids or wrap it in a bun. I usually put it in a bun/braid if my hair starts to get too frizzy because it helps to flatten it.

Ahh yes! I know Justin. He is pretty popular among the expat community but I recently heard that he was back in the states. If he comes back maybe I will try out his silk press in the winter
This is actually good... People won't be judging African hair without knowing anything about it. You just challenged them in a good way and most probs they will be looking at an afro and remember the sheer length and volume hidden under those curls. Like most of black women's hair be reaching their waist but because of curls it is not really noticable 👏👏👏
Can I just say you are a brave woman. I don't think I will ever go to a salon again. As a 4c -er I have yet to go to a professional and not have them rip through my fragile hair. I'm glad you were pleased with your experience.
Yeah I had hair past my shoulders for the first time in my life. Decided to go to a salon and literally left crying. It was cut ridiculously short; soo much of my hair was pulled out and my curls didn't come back until 3 months later when I started using Korean products
Omggg yesss me tooo the way they was combining thru it I was like 😩😩😩😩 nooooo not like that y’all ripping her hair out. But hey they did they best and it turn out pretty good lol at least they didn’t turn her away
Even in my own country (Barbados), I do not like salons. We have been conditioned for so long into not loving our hair that I don't think they are ever trying to the best with my hair instead of trying to make me hair be something it is not.
The fact that they flat iron your hair out and gave you your length made it seem like they did a great job but the reality of it is they flat ironed your hair without any heat protection product or any product at all. Not to mention they used brushes on wet hair. Brushes on wet black hair is a definite no. Yes you are in Korea so you don't have access to a black salon, this is the perfect time to get to know your hair and take care of it yourself. Your hair is too beautiful to keep going there. DIY.... Do it yourself my sister.
Girl, you'd be in paradise if you went to a salon where they are used to curly hair. It's sooooo good to treat yourself with someone that knows how to treat you (or your hair)
Hair is hair. It is up to the individual stylist to continue practicing, and that requires CLIENTS to give them a chance to even try. Don’t think for a second that just because a stylist has straight hair, they CANT do any type of hair that lands in their chair!! The majority of cosmetologists today are REQUIRED to learn and practice on ANYONE who sits in that chair, you can’t refuse anyone who doesn’t have the hair type you happened to be born with. Most clients go to a salon for something they can’t do themselves.
GIRL. I can't believe you did this. I've noticed a lot of videos of natural black girls getting their hair done in Asia recently, and as I am a fellow 4c natural living in Japan, I am in the perfect condition to be next up, but you couldn't pay me to try this 😂 You're the first girl I've seen with long hair do it tho, and my hair is also nearly booty length, so you're the first I felt I could relate closely too; still I could never.
Lol I have been natural for 10+ years I had to spice it up. But I definitely understand where you're coming from,, it can definitely be... a journey. But I was bored and willing this summer haha.
I hear you, girl. Lol I think I'd try it though if I were Asia after doing some research. Like you guys I have that long, 4c hair too, but my hair EATS moisture, so it would take some strong heat to do real damage and it didn't look like their flat irons were as hot as they are here. Very little steam and her hair was still pretty kinky after like 5 passes lol I was impressed at the final results, but wasn't surprised she said her hair was already reverting back on her way home.
Sometimes another race can be better then your own. My baby had long thick hair but black women stylist half wash it leaving soap or conditioner on her scalp
We have to take into account that korea doesnt have many people with textured hair, so its clear that its not that they dont want to take their time and experience that hair type they literally don't come across it to get that repetition needed to be experienced dealing with this hair type...so I'm proud that they tried and didn't do half bad ❤️🌹
I had to hold my breath so many times through this lol! Especially when they were combing and brushing your hair and not starting from the ends :( How they kept trying to detangle it with their hands was hard to watch too!! I agree, I think 4C hair is so beautiful naturally without straightening or chemically treating. I can understand why people do it though, to try to manage the curls!
Honestly, after seeing you with your braids out, all natural and fluffy, I think you look really pretty that way. I’m not black and I’m not really familiar with what’s required to maintain your natural hair, but if you decided to keep it that way I don’t think it would be a bad choice at all, visually speaking.
I'm black, and I love how my hair looks when it's out but it really does take a lot to maintain...like a lot. I have to section it out and "finger detangle" each night and then braid it to make sure it doesn't tangle super badly. and that takes like a whole hour added to bedtime routine. I sometimes think I'm just gonna chop it all off one day
How much breakage did you get from the detangling process ? I was worried for you because they did not properly detangle your hair especially with using combs & pulling your hair apart in the process. You can get a lot of single strand knots from that which can end up in. Ask me how I know...😮

This is in a country that barely have people with that same texture so they wouldn't even think that they would need to learn it. A little open mindedness and understanding goes a long way. And most the remaining immigrants are from Southeast and central Asia, lastly (mostly white) Americans account for the 3rd group which is about 6% of immigrants. Knowing that, he should have been familiar with conditi9ners!
It's cool that he used it as a learning experience for the other employee.
I’m proud of her and everyone involved that’s not easy
Yes 🙌🏾 that was so cute 🥰 aww 🥰
The hair stylist’s did an amazing job, a lot of hard work went into your beautiful hair.
Not sure if the hair got all the moisture and nutrients it needed but it looked gorgeous! Reminds me of a silk press. I'm so happy they didn't reject you and he accepted the challenge! I'm sure he felt super proud and gained a lot of respect! 👏 for both of you!
Rub some coconut oil in and she’s good
It definitely looks dry and the ends are split.
Girl that don’t look like nobody’s silk press please try again
@sd3564 don't b so aggressive wif it..
She seemed so sweet and the hairdressers were so polite and kind despite not having experience with her type of hair. They did an awesome job! This was wholesome to watch honestly
The editing is hilarious. Props to you for going, being polite and letting them learn and for them for being open to something new.
Your hair looked really good when you took your braids out.
The length and volume of your hair is EVERYTHING! Your hair turned out great!!!! I think with a bit more experience and practice he can really start doing it perfectly! At least he didn’t give up on you and tried his absolute best!
He was proud of himself at the end. Feels like he passed a major lifetime exam
I would like to mention a Korean stylist named Justin on TH-cam under Where’s Mina Again, he does kinky hair perfectly. Yours came out nice though.
Ahh yes! I know Justin. He is pretty popular among the expat community but I recently heard that he was back in the states. If he comes back maybe I will try out his silk press in the winter
He did a wonderful job. Her hair is so beautiful 😊
Whats African hair I never heard of that . 🤔
I'm American not African n I have kinky hair
@@shamika5300 bro u know what they meant it’s not that deep
We have been conditioned for so long into not loving our hair that I don't think they are ever trying to the best with my hair instead of trying to make me hair be something it is not.
go to a blk shop chi not of any other race a blk one
The fact that they flat iron your hair out and gave you your length made it seem like they did a great job but the reality of it is they flat ironed your hair without any heat protection product or any product at all. Not to mention they used brushes on wet hair. Brushes on wet black hair is a definite no. Yes you are in Korea so you don't have access to a black salon, this is the perfect time to get to know your hair and take care of it yourself. Your hair is too beautiful to keep going there. DIY.... Do it yourself my sister.
You were so sweet to him. This was such a heartwarming interaction to see
Hello how are you doing?
Girl, you'd be in paradise if you went to a salon where they are used to curly hair. It's sooooo good to treat yourself with someone that knows how to treat you (or your hair)
She has coily hair
Hair is hair. It is up to the individual stylist to continue practicing, and that requires CLIENTS to give them a chance to even try. Don’t think for a second that just because a stylist has straight hair, they CANT do any type of hair that lands in their chair!! The majority of cosmetologists today are REQUIRED to learn and practice on ANYONE who sits in that chair, you can’t refuse anyone who doesn’t have the hair type you happened to be born with. Most clients go to a salon for something they can’t do themselves.
He did a good job and it was nice to see you all so patient and kind with each other.
You are probably the sweetest customer I've ever seen. "I love it!" "I think he did an amazing job!" Ahhh I love you
@@ceceprincess4758 change your stylist
@Katelynn Stewart she probably didn't want to
You have so much beautiful hair. You're brave for trying this in Korea but it turned out pretty well
We have to take into account that korea doesnt have many people with textured hair, so its clear that its not that they dont want to take their time and experience that hair type they literally don't come across it to get that repetition needed to be experienced dealing with this hair type...so I'm proud that they tried and didn't do half bad ❤️🌹
I had to hold my breath so many times through this lol! Especially when they were combing and brushing your hair and not starting from the ends :( How they kept trying to detangle it with their hands was hard to watch too!! I loved seeing your natural hair again and the straight hair turned out great!! He is very nice as well, I think you gave him a very unforgettable experience!!! Very very cool video!!
Thank you a bunch K 😘 Honestly it was definitely an experience but they truly worked hard and I was surprised at how the guy knew about my hair type. I just think length scared them😅
@@KerrasJournal they didn't know it shows over combing brushing not protecting oil nothing my little sister could if did that. Don't go back!!
@@deedeegottyme3671 😅😅 Thought I was the only one who felt this way. Like she is GORGEOUS and her hair is to die for😍😍😍 but the way he pulled and ripped her hair on top of the many passes with no heat protection🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ like nah sis never again. I was out here having heart palpitations while watching.
@@deedeegottyme3671 They didn’t know any better, and they’re not used to her hair type.
They were honest about their lack of experience with Kerra’s hair type and length.
When I was in the military, I loved getting my hait done in Seoul, RoK. There's a lot of them that know how to treat, style, and manage black hair. As a mattet of fact, some of them have lived in the U.S. and learned. They always made me feel good when I came through the door and would throw in a neck massage while you're getting your hair done, shout to Ms. Connie in Seoul if she's still living.....this was in the 90s
Yes Crystal, he should have been more informed.
Hair conditioner would have made it easier.
They Worked!! Korean People are genuis when it comes to almost anything, i just experince super professional cataract surgery at the Glory Seoul and the price was sooo much less for the Top Notch work. Thank you Dr. Kim.
It was his 1st time working w 4c hair and he still managed to do a great job, I love it
Girl, you genuinely seem like the sweetest person ever, as a fellow curly I understand the pain but I’m so glad it worked out for you!
200,000 won is $170.38 in us dollars.....dang! I was hella nervous watching this! I bet they didn't have many products for her hair type💯 Bravo to them for accepting her and doing their best 👏👏👏👏 I love it 💕 she is so sweet and beautiful ❤️
Girl, I could practically feel how soft your healthy head of hair was once they were finished.
Aww you're so kind! It was definitely pillow soft and an amazing feeling to touch my scalp lol. Thank you a bunch for watching
Just wanted to say that you're gorgeous and your natural hair looked beautiful as soon as you unbraided it ❤️
Have to admit that it was well worth the time it took and the team did a wonderful job.
I agree, I think 4C hair is so beautiful naturally without straightening or chemically treating. I can understand why people do it though, to try to manage the curls!
My favorite summer look is micro braids ! espeecially when they have colors!
Honestly, after seeing you with your braids out, all natural and fluffy, I think you look really pretty that way. I’m not black and I’m not really familiar with what’s required to maintain your natural hair, but if you decided to keep it that way I don’t think it would be a bad choice at all, visually speaking.
Fr I prefer my natural hair over having it straight makes my head feel 10x bigger than it is
I'm black, and I love how my hair looks when it's out but it really does take a lot to maintain...like a lot.
Ask me how I know...😮
@@internationalspectrumcosme7142 I, had concerns regarding that as well... their methods of detangling, was not done professionally. Not trying to be a Critic.🙂
No way! I mean too much heat and too many hands in the hair. Would not let them do mine. Nope!
I live in the Caribbean when i flat ironed my hair in the salon i felt like repunzel, feeling myself an shizzzz but as soon as i stepped out side babbbbbyyyy pooofffffff afro, took 30minutes for my hair to revert but i loved my results, took lots of pics 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm glad you had wonderful open minded and polite people as your stylist, and i loved your results as well, i dont like my hair too straight, i love it fluffy❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Stunning! A huge hand of applause to the hair stylist involved! Bravo!
I am with you 🙌🙌🙌
Props to everyone involved in this process. Including you, girl. Y’all are brave!
I'm Asian and I always admire this type of hair, i used to wish I can do it on my hair but I saw on the internet that copying their hairstyle is inappropriate and disrespectful.
You are free to copy same way some of us straighten out our hair. It's the intention that matters. Let love lead.

I’m an retired hair dresser myself for 13 years & he did do a great job being that this was his first time but I wouldn’t go back because there is so much importance in natural hair care. I just started locs after being natural since 2011. It’s a lot of up keep for long natural hair. But kudos for you my beauty & the stylist who did you hair 🤍🫶🏽
