Hi! This is a tip that I’ve learnt during quarantine while using this recipe for air dry clay. I suggest letting it dry first and then paint on it, then cover it in modpoge or whatever it’s called or glue so that it stays shiny and doesn’t loose colour!
@@soprondiana6261 Hiya! Sure, your air dry clay may be rubbery because it’s dried up- or because it’s in the drying process, you can add a little bit of warm water ( I mean a little bit not a lot) and try to fold it in, or glue. Something that would give it its moisture back so it stays soft :) I hope this helps
This totally works for butter slime! You can replace cornstarch with twice as much flour and replace lemon juice with half the amount of white vinegar or white wine. Hope it was helpful!
This is a really great air dry clay recipe! I used it to make realistic mushrooms last fall and they still look amazing. No cracking, crumbling, very sturdy formula, just lovely. Thank you!! xo
Anyone else watching in 2020 bc they’re bored being quarantined at home all day? 😂 edit: it is now 2021 and we're still at home 😭 another edit: it is now 2024 and i have lost my sense of reality thx covid for messing up everything 😭
i used a microwave safe bowl and tried this recipe and it works amazingly. it is the best air dry clay i have ever made. at first it didnt come out but i added some water to the finished clay and it worked. the reason is probably because my brand of glue was different and noticeably thicker. it can be difficult to make but if done right this stuff is as good as store-bought clay and perfect for when you're bored stuck at home. i seriously recommend you to try it out. another tip wrap it in a damp tea towel and then in a zip lock bag to prevent it from drying.
Here are also two glue free recipies! ●•First Recipe•● 1 Part Salt 2 Parts Flour 1 Part Water {mix and knead until you have a dough like consistency} ●•Second Recipe•● 1 Part Baking Soda 2-3 Parts Cornstarch 1-2 Parts Water {put in the microwave for 5 seconds, stir, put back in the microwave stir, and repeat until you have a dough like consistency⚠be careful! it might be hot so let it cool down forst before you use it.} *♢Thanks for Reading!♢*
Great recipe! I like it because it created a very durable "Porcelain". I made a ball of it, let it dry, threw it on the concrete and it only got scratches and didn't shatter. Just be sure to let it sit for a bit, because straight out of the microwave it's a bit too soft to mold. But overall, would definitely recommend.

Mei Yuan OK. You don't know what you're talking about. If you put something like a spoon in the microwave, it wouldn't do anything because the surface area of the curve doesn't have any points for the sparks to come off. The reason that a tinfoil ball would be a problem is because it has many small points that sparks could come off of. As long as what you put in the microwave doesn't have any sharp points, it shouldn't make a difference. Get your facts straight before you troll on the Internet. Seriously!!!
If I mix this clay again, I'll look for a silicone baking sheet to use instead of the parchment, as I'd like a more stable base. I needed to make a base for a wobbly Advent wreath, and did not think that the clay would shrink so much even after 36 hours' drying time. Please add a note to your directions to help deal with the shrinkage. I would leave my wooden blocks (with candle holder cups) in place until the clay was completely dry. And, I echo the comments about using a metal container in the microwave. Don't follow that example!

I'll try this again tomorrow. I have a high powered microwave and I've seen another video with the same recipe and they suggested microwaving in 15 sec increments. I will try doing it in the 15 sec increments. I think I over cooked my dough. So just a FYI to others out there. I will update with my results and let everyone know if my problem was cooking it too long or not. I did seal the dough in plastic wrap and put it in an air tight container for tonight. Maybe it will be fine. Another video suggested letting the dough rest for 24hrs before using. I'll do that and hope it just needed to rest. I'll be back. Lol

Not really, butter slime uses clay that is paper clay, and is light, fluffy and very soft. This clay looks like a porcelain clay, that is very dense and not airy. But you're free to try it, and tell me if it works.

+Iggy A Same......
+Epic Eva 11000 Thx!!
Do we have to use lemon juice?
Taniya Vave the lemon juice just makes it a bit more shiny/smooth.It's optional but I recommend doing it. :)
I hear vinegar can be used as a substitute.
the lemon juice prevents it from molding, you can use anything acidic, lime juice, vinegar
*Is there a substitute for lemon juice??*
I heard vinegar or lemon juice would work...it keeps it from getting moldy
Try citric acid
lime juice
Vinegar...Its a Natural Sanitizer as Well...We Use It a Lot At The Ambulance
Your family is beautiful! Air dry Clay is SO amazing!! I actually whipped up my first batch a few days ago. It was so much fun I even made a video. I'd love to know your thoughts. I ended up making some beach style ornaments. Got any tips for cracking? Awesome vid!😊
I don’t think theres a good solution to the cracking like any dough will.
Do you think you could use this for butter slime
Not really, butter slime uses clay that is paper clay, and is light, fluffy and very soft. This clay looks like a porcelain clay, that is very dense and not airy. But you're free to try it, and tell me if it works.
Arooba Isani ha ha I thought the same, probably no bc it has glue (and the other reply)
U might be able to if u add lotion or add very litrle
Yes it does work
Arooba Isani yes u can that is what she used for her butter slime
Glue in the kitchen.. Because Don't everybody drink a cup of glue every morning? Of course we do.. except for those crazy vegans...
I don't but I ain't no vegan either
Vegans are good hearted people...
I AM A VEGAN AND I AM OFFENDED
hahaha
