Yes, exactly, there was nothing to focus on. I was furloughed and even though I wrote a few papers during that time, the lack of social contact was the biggest miss for me. I just wanted to see people so much! I think I took comfort in hobbies and that happened to be gardening, sewing and perfume.

No worries! I am also behind with my watching! 😂 Fragrance is really personal. So many people love Princess so I get that. There's something about the base note mixed with the guava that is just a no for me.
Watching Rebeca's video really got me thinking about how normal overconsumption is on TH-cam. I realise that that is necessary for review channels, but I have never bought this much excess of anything. I guess that's just what happens. I suppose perfume is better than makeup in that it keeps much longer, so that is a plus... Anyway I added things up for this video and was just so shocked that my perfume consumption had reached almost a bottle a week in 2020 (when I add back in the decluttered fragrances). I wondered whether other people were buying this much.... I think the photos are very telling....
@@dr.claire.perfume Absolutely! As a makeup fanatic this issue has been rampant on TH-cam for years and it's definitely similar in the fragrance world which is just exploding at the moment. I honestly think that YES, people were buying just as much as you or, if anything, MORE than you (Not to compare, but there can be a lot of shame in consumption and from what I've gathered in groups etc you are on the low end of buying, which, is wild! Right? Just as you say.) I think you are touching on something a lot of people have felt and have in common. I only started massively buying perfume in the fall but I *know* people started quite literally binge shopping in March 2020. I think it's very telling if you look at Fragrantica, which I've been consulting since 2009?2010? Earlier maybe? Anyway, ALL perfumes spiked enormously in March 2020. I think it's safe to say a lot of perfume shopping happened in 2020 for a lot of people.

I remember particularly with Aura, I literally was craving going into a store to sniff it and when I couldn't do that during lockdown, I just bought it. I absolutely love the Mugler bottles but I don’t think I’ve ever tried any of them other than a sample of Alien! When the shops open up again I’m going to have to head to the perfume counters

I have been surprised by the number of perfumes that I bought last year, there are some that I haven't even shown on my channel yet! I am currently enjoying swapping bottles temporarily with friends at work. We wipe down the bottles and leave them on each others' desks. It is allowing me to try more perfume without buying, but it relies on knowing people who also have an interest. I think this has really helped me get through a no buy. It is now a week into March and I've still not bought anything. I was watching smufygurly and she was saying she's on a slowbuy, she means that she is making only very considered purchases. I always thought I did that, but maybe I did not 🤷♀️ I am clearly not going to stop buying perfume but I think I am now thinking more about what I truly enjoy and perhaps I am wanting to sample more rather than blind buy. a lot of us grew our collection last year, personally watching perfumes and shopping online helped me get through quarantine😀 i enjoyed watching this💕
