A spectacularly beautiful flight back home to London from San Francisco. This was my first time onboard a United 777. Unfortunately we weren't off to a particularly good start due to a technical issue, after boarding we remained on the aircraft for a further 90 minutes before push back. Lucky for me I had the row to myself so space to spread out and relax a little more. Once on the move and classic, noisy 777 engine start up and taxi down to RWY28L for departure. Now after take off some absolutely beautiful views of the coastline and the city itself. Turning back on ourselves over the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Area before climbing away in a north easterly direction towards the Rocky Mountains and Canadian border. Within the first few hours the sun was starting to set. A few hours after that, high above Hudson Bay in northern Canada was treated by some stunning display of the Aurora Borealis. Now on video it really wouldn't show well at all. So I used long exposure on my iPhone and managed to catch some stunning still images which I did include in the video. During the second part of the flight, over Iceland we decended from 38,000ft down to 30,000ft in order to benefit from a strong jetstream! Over 170mph tail wind, pushing us along for the final leg towards the UK. After all of this a spectacular "sightseeing" approach over central London into RWY27R at Heathrow. Londons skyline lit up in the beautiful early morning light.

You really won the lottery with those views of both cities.
Even though I've lived in the UK all my life and have also flown in and out of Heathrow too many times to remember, I have to say that the early morning sunlit and misty views of London on this flight, were some of the best I've seen! Well done 🙂
It was a stunning approach this morning that’s for sure
I'm 100 miles east of sfo I see the Europe bound traffic fly right over me. They're about 18-24000 feet up about 15 minutes after takeoff

"A spectacularly beautiful flight back home to London from San Francisco." You'll get no argument from me regarding that statement, Matt. Wow. Great stuff, indeed. Thanks for that.
Couldn't fault that if I tried; absolutely exceptional filming/editing; most enjoyable! ALL the scenes were magnificent, but the London flyover was amazing, I guess because of that sharp, early morning light. Loved every minute of it!
London, the best city in the world!
I’ve flown this leg back in the day. So many memories you brought back thank you for the brilliant video.
Excellent video clip tour of UA 777 take off out of San Fran, great views
Dear lordy, I have never seen an LHR approach with this combination of lighting and views. BRAVO
This is, by far, the most outstanding London landing video I have ever seen. Very well done!
I only made this trip once in my lifetime - however many years ago when UNITED had the 744 in their fleet.
Stunning fly over that, well done.
Thanks :D
Fabulous early morning views of London. If I had seen that in Micorsoft Flight Simulator I would have thought it unreal !!! I'm going to see can I re-create the scenario.
I love the Shard and City Airport
very nice take-off and landing, the views are awesome!
I never realized how big London is!
Heathrow is by far my favorite airport that I had flown through in Europe.
That was a fantastic zoom in on that Lufthansa 747-8...great video.
Beautiful video, especially the approach over London!
Thanks! Yes it was spectacular
A superbly taken and edited video, beautiful lighting, spectacular Northern Lights, classic views of London on approach and very helpful captions/commentary. Just first class from start to finish, I salute you and am grateful to you for sharing this with us. Stay well
16:53 nice view of UC Berkeley
Spectacular trip aboard United's Boeing 777 200. Very good video.
That was an impressive London sunrise!
Vertigo moment from 4:20.
What a great day for this video…love the San Francisco airport! Lucky to spot the 747 Queen of the Sky waiting most likely to take off for Frankfurt. Lufthansa is one of the few airlines that still uses 747’s as passenger planes.
Thanks for sharing this video. Greetings from San Francisco!
Mighty views of London too..always different !
Northern lights 👌
Beautiful video ❤
Took flight to Heathrow from sfo. .via los angeles..Heathrow landing is spectacular ❤....2016
What a stunning approach into London. Awesome footage man!
very nice 👍
I took United’s 777 from the same gate and runway back in June to Auckland lol. Nice clip
You could make an argument that there’s been no greater long haul workhorse than the 772 in the last 30 years. The a330 *might* be up there, too…but man, the world’s 772 fleet is just continental, transoceanic 24/7 for decades on end…
wow the Northern Lights -so ethereal..super footage ! God Bless ...from Ireland 🙂
What camera is this? Zoom is AMAZING! Best shot of London ever!
Quite 🥥
Good to see Air New Zealand, during your departure from San Francisco! Auckland is where i live. Awesome views of Golden Gate etc
I shall be visiting Auckland for the first time next month
i'm the person who wants the window seat so i can gaze at the sites. i am utterly mesmerized.
Excellent video...thank you!
41:00 "Look kids Big Ben Parliament..."
I flew on a 777 with United Airlines in the Summer of 2003, flying between San Francisco and Maui. It remains the biggest airliner that I’ve flown on to date. On the flight from San Francisco to Maui, I had a window seat right next to the right side engine.
Fantastic video!
Great job by the cameraman..... takes a lot of skill and stamina to make sure the video is as smooth as this.... very dedicated. Ohh and that sunset at 36:40 ........ a vision as to what London WILL look like if we end up in a war with Russia and China..... a nuclear explosion is the image you are looking at
Enjoyed the video very much . Thank you.
May I ask what kind of camera you used ?
I flew on her sister registration N78008 from EWR-LAX
90 minutes just sitting there... and then STILL a 9+ hour flight... yikes. I'd go insane
Excellent camera work!!!!!
Great
I love your video your make Good video ❤
Awesome footage especially out of SFO! What phone camera do you use? The clear zoom is impressive. 👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Que Vídeo Espetacular Voar é Sempre Ótimo 😊😊😊. Em Qual Poltrona Você Foi ?
any frequent SFO flyers know why 28L would have takeoffs with a sharp right bank (crossing 28R) immediately after rotate? Is this a normal departure? years ago there was a string of widebodies doing it & we also did it on the 777. It was kinda lit - but every other time ive flown out its been straight-out departures
That is still the norm with narrowbodies when flying eastbound. Widebodies no longer do that, since many of them now use up too much runway space to make that right bank at a high enough altitude before reaching over Highway 101.
Golden gate bridge san francissco like it
a REALLY BOOOORRRRRIIIING VIDEO FOR A CHEAPASSE FLIGHT
A dumb ass comment on a video where the title literally says what it is 😂 You chose to watch it. Weird that.
Comes to my mind everytime i see it: That "new" control tower at LHR is so ugly.
I like it! Think it’s quite an iconic part of the Heathrow skyline
Very old planes USA have
I'm happy you were able to escape SFO without being held hostage, or worse, by one of the esteemed citizen-zombies downtown. You may not realize but that may 0erhaps be your last view of a once great and mighty US city. Cheers
That "curry" looked awful

plane is old
The Bay Area where I lived for 65 years retired and left taxes and everything else were way too high a place that will drain your wallet.
✈️✈️✈️ @12:57 I live down there!
