It’s amazing how the first incident resulting in fatalities on a 777 was almost 20 years after it first flew. The safety numbers on a 777 currently are inflated by two freak Malaysia Airlines incidents, but excluding those incidents it’s as well made of an aircraft that an aircraft could conceivably be. Part of the golden era of Boeing.
@@NDSAviation1 Yep...MH370 who knows what the heck happened, the second Malaysian airliner that was shot down by a missile while it was cruising at 33,000 feet, most likely from Russians. The 777 is a gorgeous airplane with absolute titanic turbofans.
Right?!! My kids would never even look like they were gonna act a fool. I give them "the glare" and they cower in their seats! lol jkjk but really its very annoying on an airplane. Normally it's the adults that cause more problems in my experience! What about you?
Well, I've had my fill of flying, but I still love to watch these videos. You haven't lived till you've come home from a week of camping at Yosemite late on a Sunday night (11:30 pm) to find your boss waiting for you in your driveway with plane tickets to Houston for the next morning! True story.
I had my fill of flying as well. Imagine leaving Deadhorse Airport in Prudhoe Bay, fly to Anchorage, take another plane to Oakland, Ca. Get my car from long term storage lot, go home , hear the phone ringing as I struggle with the door keys. I answered the phone, the boss says get to Oakland Airport immediately and fly to Honolulu and do an emergency job on a Navy ship at Pearl Harbor the next day. I spent 8 weeks on the North Slope 14-16 hours a day with no days off. I was home for 3 minutes before being rerouted. The company had an expensive ankle length Eddie Bauer Arctic Jacket that I had to sign for. I was told to give it to another engineer waiting for me at Honolulu Airport going to Alaska. There was no way to pack that jacket so I had to wear it. I got to the Honolulu airport citrus inspection room where a big Hawaiian inspector look at me with crazy eye. He said snickering at me, ''You ovva dress fo here. Sorry, no snow on dis island. Open da bag fo me please''. I opened my suitcase stuffed full of dirty laundry, hash marked underwear on top. He looked at me and asked ''Why you bring rags? Trow em all away. Bedda yet, burn dem. We got store here. You buy some Happy Shirt an flip flops. Truss me, diss clothes stink. Evva body tink you begger bum. Close em up and you go now. Mahalo.'' I was at Pearl Harbor on jobs 23 times between 1983 and 1984. Before joining the San Francisco District Office, I worked in 17 countries all over the world. Enough Travel!
Recently flew on my first 777. I was warned the engines were powerful, loud and vibrated a lot. But no one did any justice to how it truly felt in the moment. This plane is incredibly powerful.
The second best sound of a commercial jet (turbofan) engine, after the incredible sound of a 707 (turbojet) engine! I'll never forget flying on Olympic and TWA 707's from JFK NY to Athens, Greece as a teen back in the 70's! I can still hear the sound of those P&W turbojets spooling up!
I was stuck in Maracaibo, Venezuela, for 8 days trying to get to Anywhere, USA, in 1979. The DC-10, AA191 had crashed, killing 273 people in Chicago. I had a ticket on AA191 but changed my mind while awaiting the cab to the airport. I took the Venezuela assignment instead. They grounded DC-10's after the crash and almost all air traffic from South America was impacted. On my 8th day at the airport, I greased the gate agent with a double handful of Bolivars and he got me on the last seat on an ancient beat up Braniff 707. I think it was stuck in a muddy bean field near the airport where they aired up the tires and let her go. It was in terrible shape but it was my first and last 707 ride ever. I enjoyed every minute to Miami. Beer in Athens was 50 Drachmas back then for locals. 300 Drachmas for tourists.
I could listen to those GE90’s for hours… absolutely incredible takeoff as well, loved the glide left-to-right and the engine noise when the power is re-applied @ around 18:52 just tops it off! Spectacular video👍🏼😎

The RB211 is a beast. I actually did fly on a United 757-300 with RB211 engines. Haven’t uploaded that yet. But RB211s are getting harder to find. There aren’t any US-based 767s that operate with RB211, and 747-400s with RB211 are pretty all gone worldwide. I think the RB211s on the 747s sound the best of all the RB211-powered aircraft. Maybe it’s because there’s 4 of them
I’ve been knowing Boeing since I was six years old. I’m 59 years old now such a reputable prestigious company what the hell happened ? I was a huge fan of Boeing very disappointed.
I've been told the buzzing sound is the jet fans hitting supersonic speed, but it's always from the moment the wheels come off the ground and hitting cruise altitude when the seatbelt sign come off. If you go through the footage of the pilots during takeoff, there isn't much of fiddling with the throttle after starting? yet the buzzing sound is only momentarily. Anyone care to explain?
It was probably a max derate takeoff as you can hear actually the engine putting more power shortly after takeoff at around the "power reduction" altitude. (switch to climb I guess)
Lol - keep in mind that’s there a huge amount of selection bias in terms of what gets reported in the media. There are tens of thousands of Boeing flights everyday, and 99.99% of them are completely uneventful, that will never make the news

Insane how congested the airspace. That’s why you hear so many throttle rollbacks as the crew await clearance to a higher altitude, get clearance, and throttle up again.
