magenta color is due to small amount to phenolphthalein (an indicator which is colorless in neutral and acidic solutions but turns pink in alkaline ones). It works with any bases and acids, you can try this: small amount of phenolphthalein (which looks like empty glass) and large amount of NaOH solution (clear colorless liqiud in the other conical flask). Indicator turns solution to pink. Then pour it to the next flask filled with e.g. HCl (or any other acid, vinegar will do as well). The solution will lose its color, as it becomes either neutral or acidic (depending on amount of acid). Then again you can add any base (KOH, Ca(OH2) etc) to get magenta color.

1:00:25 - Brittle is *not* the opposite of elastic. Brittle is the opposite of _flexible._ Elasticity is a material's ability to return to the original shape after a force stops acting on it. Glass, for example, can be quite brittle (i.e., not very flexible) while still being very elastic (i.e., if it doesn't break, it returns to its original shape).
The opposite of elasticity would be _plasticity_ (the tendency of a solid to become permanently reshaped as a result of the temporary application of a force).
