I disagree that the Gold Coast is home to our most beautiful beaches. Australia has nearly 12,000 beaches, and there are many that are equal to or far better than those found on the Gold Coast. Australia generally is much more interesting and beautiful than the very touristy Gold Coast area. Not that the Gold Coast is a dump. It's just there is sooooo much more to Australia than the Gold Coast.

Regarding Sydney. The worse thing you can do or what locals don't do is hang around the CBD. You have to go to the beach suburbs like Bondi or Manly and more suburbs near there. That will be more like a Miami vibe. Not just go but actually stay there and aviod the CBD. Once is enough.

It is the Melbourne and Sydney spring school holidays right now so there should have been many visitors from down south. Queensland school holidays are over. Two weeks only, the longer break is in December/January for summer.

I live 17 mins from Surfers Paradise. It’s awesome living up here I moved from Sydney to Gold Coast 15 years ago and haven’t gone back to Sydney. Only to visit family. It’s a 10 hour drive to family’s house to stay there in the western suburbs of Sydney, when we come down to visit. 😊

I’m seeing this Saturday afternoon so you’ve been here a few days already. While you’re in Surfers, gotta go up to the top deck of the Q1 building. The view from up there is to die for. Can see the whole GC in every direction. If you haven’t been down to Burleigh Heads, it’s really worth the trip down Gold Coast Hwy. Only about 20 mins on the bus from Surfers. You probably won’t have time on this trip, but the Gold Coast hinterland is spectacular. You’d love A day trip up to Tamborine Mountain.

Gold Coast hinterland is really beautiful. Places like Numinbah Valley, Natural Bridge, and Springbrook National Park. Beautiful countryside and rainforests out that way. I prefer there to the beaches which can be too touristy and cosmopolitan for my liking... 😅

I am like 7th generation born raised bred Adelaidean though I've travelled around the coast lived in a few other places, I love my country more then anything, got indigenous blood an my heritage is full aussie, so I love when others get the chance to come over an enjoy themselves an meet some of us locals, you definitely have to try some of the outback adventures we have a lot of touristy type of things going on with awe inspiring an marvelous sights, you won't regret it, it's got a certain rustic charm to it.

I live 17 mins from Surfers Paradise. It’s awesome living up here I moved from Sydney to Gold Coast 15 years ago and haven’t gone back to Sydney. Only to visit family. It’s a 10 hour drive to family’s house to stay there in the western suburbs of Sydney, when we come down to visit. 😊

Can see the whole GC in every direction. If you haven’t been down to Burleigh Heads, it’s really worth the trip down Gold Coast Hwy. Only about 20 mins on the bus from Surfers. You probably won’t have time on this trip, but the Gold Coast hinterland is spectacular. You’d love A day trip up to Tamborine Mountain.

Gold Coast hinterland is really beautiful. Places like Numinbah Valley, Natural Bridge, and Springbrook National Park. Beautiful countryside and rainforests out that way. I prefer there to the beaches which can be too touristy and cosmopolitan for my liking... 😅
