I was at Graceland in November for the Christmas lighting ceremony, I'm from Washington State, and I had business to take care of on getwell road and drove by the college campus everyday and I remember the hospital and I had no idea what had taken place by there in Elvis history. Wow!! 61 years difference. How things have changed. I wonder how much history we miss, just simply walking/ driving by these areas? The bridge you drove over had me laughing. When I was in Memphis with my best friend. I wanted a picture of the welcome to Tennessee and Arkansas signs. She was the passenger. We drove back and forth many times, because I didn't like the pictures she took. Too blurry, out of focus, etc. After about and hour or more, I was finally satisfied. Then she said..... she should of drove!! Lol 😂 We had a good laugh at that moment. It was a Lucy and Ethel memory. Always, great work Billy. 😁💚👍
i was inducted in the army here in nov,1965,took my basic in ft hood by some tankers that give elvis basic,in 1979,i bought the steel beams and pipe from this place when they were demolishing it and framed my shop building out of it-----paul parvin

I remember when I was really young he came to St. Louis. My sister wanted to go ( she was 10 yrs older than me) and of course I threw a fit to go. She told Mom she was NOT taking me along . So I didnt get to go .. but she didnt either. I think she said she waited in line for tickets for the longest time and they sold out hahaha.. revenge

Billy, you have the tenaciousness of a possum dog. Reminds me of the matchups you were able to get in Bad Nauheim. I believe you're absolutely right re Elvis searching for a new home in '56. He knew of the Audubon neighborhood and simply got into his car, drove a mile or so and found the first one for sale, which turned out to be 1034. BTW, that dumpster has been standing in the driveway for going on 2 years! (Almost hopped the fence to check it out!). I didn't realize that Memphis' army barracks were so extensive at one time. They really churned'em out of that place. That said, I still believe a worried US Senator contacted a worried sec/defense and both made sure E's name was on the draft list.

I so enjoy your videos! Another element that factors into the equation might be the focal length of the lens used to take the picture, as well as the focal length of the lens you're shooting video with.
Great Point.. Film Camera lenses can exaggerate distance and a digital video camera is pretty close to reality so it is hard to tell distance from a photo..

He knew of the Audubon neighborhood and simply got into his car, drove a mile or so and found the first one for sale, which turned out to be 1034. BTW, that dumpster has been standing in the driveway for going on 2 years! (Almost hopped the fence to check it out!). I didn't realize that Memphis' army barracks were so extensive at one time. They really churned'em out of that place. That said, I still believe a worried US Senator contacted a worried sec/defense and both made sure E's name was on the draft list.

Elvis got his military haircut at Fort Chaffee Arkansas, near Fort Smith, the barber shop is still there and the man that cut his hair is still around as far as I know..
I so enjoy your videos! Another element that factors into the equation might be the focal length of the lens used to take the picture, as well as the focal length of the lens you're shooting video with.
Great Point.. Film Camera lenses can exaggerate distance and a digital video camera is pretty close to reality so it is hard to tell distance from a photo..
