The Pal version of the Hidden Mansion in Luigi's Mansion is a much harder version of the game. But what if there was something worse? Introducing Luigi's Hidden, Hidden Mansion: All ghosts have 250 HP, deal double damage, move 30% faster, are 30% larger, and the whole place is mirrored with sinister red lighting.

I think I know why portrait ghosts are unaffected. It’s because they drop pearls. Henry is affected because he doesn’t give out pearls. Same for the area bosses.
More info on this: portrait ghost hp is stored differently in the game’s code (basically it’s in actual code rather than data files which is the case for normal ghosts), so they’ll be stored somewhere else in ram that swanky’s ar code doesn’t overwrite. But they can be edited with the only annoyance being that drops aren’t proportionate to max health - pearls still only start appearing once the ghost is under 100hp. It’s been a while since I modded so not sure how boss health works or henry’s.
Tl;dr Pearls functionality isn’t the specific reason this all differs, though it is a common attribute of the portrait ghosts that have their hp handled in a different way.
There's also the Blue Leader Clockwork Soldier, Pink and Green don't give Pearls, but Blue does.

@@Loubert2004 Oh no it is, the Blue one is the Leader, so killing him is what gives the Pearls, you can do poorly with the Pink and Green ones around, but you need to make it count with the Blue one.

Are you familiar with the 3DS Version's hidden mansion? It boosts everyone's HP and completely changes what ghosts show up in what rooms
Not to mention, they replace hearts that ghosts normally drop with poison mushrooms instead, and if you’re sucking up more than one ghost, it’ll reward you hearts
I am. Most of the rooms have the same types of ghosts as here in similar numbers, but there are some differences.
Examples:
Sealed room has only 3 Purple Punchers at once (but more spawn as you defeat them)
Mirror room has only 2 ghosts at once (total count is still 6)
Safari Room’s last wave is even harder, I think there were 8 Blue Blazes (I’ve counted them but I don’t have the number memorized)
And portrait ghosts’ HP is actually boosted, and they drop 4 additional pearls each.
Took me a while to beat the whole thing, though that might just be a skill issue
Hold up, Luigi’s Mansion is easily one of my all time Nintendo favorites, and you’re telling me I’ve been playing a neutered version of it this whole time? Damn it.

I didn't know the changes were exclusive to the PAL version. I always wondered why I had read the Hidden Mansion was harder but it never seemed any different when I played it.
The pal version is the first game I downloaded when I got dolphin emulator. Mirror mode and the tougher ghosts made it feel like a completely different game. Luigi’s mansion was finally tougher to play
If only the Poltergust's suction could be improved. Not by hacks, but more like power ups from Scarescrapers.
Europe got games later, slower and often with borders but the hidden mansion Is the best deal we ever got due to a later release
I've got the Pal version of Luigi's Mansion, I got the highest score and best Mansion at the end because of the hidden Mansion.
When he revealed Henry, the twin, having 250 HP I realized IMMEDIATELY what that was, and so I was hyped to see his story of fighting 600 HP's worth of Clockwork Toy Soldiers.
...I was kinda disappointed. But, hey! The rest of the video was great. Gotta love Mini Luigi's adventure through what could only be described as Cerberus ignoring the gate for an entire night.

I did Luigi's Mansion Super Hard Mode (basically the same thing except the ghosts have 200HP instead of 250) and was able to do Van Gore with some element left in the tank. Thus, it would certainly be possible to do with 250HP. I think he misunderstood how the element damage works: you don't have to spam it, if you do it once at every 5HP interval, they remain stunned and taking damage, so you only have to do it on every 5.

How many people know that you can actually snare Boolosus with your vacuum? You can't suck him up, but it sure makes it easier knowing that you can pop him on one of the statues by force, rather than by tricking them.

The Luigi’s Mansion devs must’ve taken inspiration from the Castlevania series’ flipped castle New Game+ modes, I see. (Or was it the other way around?)
First of all, it’s funny hearing you say what are probably the official names for these ghosts, when I’m used to the more basic names from the old guide. I know Gold Ghosts and Purple Punchers as just orange and pink ghosts, for example (which I prefer for the orange ghosts, like hell is that gold).
Second, I like that the Blue Twirlers and their elemental versions (I heard you call them Blue Blazes, but I thought the blue ghost’s elemental variant was water) showed up a lot more in your version, regardless of if they were Pal Hidden additions or your own. They always seemed like one of the big three standard ghosts alongside Ghosts and Punchers, but outside of the blackout they only appear in two, maybe three rooms.
The 3DS Version of Luigi’s Mansion also has its own Hidden Mansion mode that’s different from the original GameCube release.

In the North American version of Luigi’s Mansion, from what I understand it’s basically a mode where ghosts do double damage but your poltergust 3000 also does double damage. It’s pretty easy on the North American version and I pretty much went through the game in the Hidden Mansion mode until I got to the final boss. King Boo’s added HP made me not so patient so I just decided to finish the game on regular mode from there, but it’s definitely doable. The PAL version looks pretty hard though, too bad they don’t just make another hard mode option on the North American version, where we essentially get Luigi’s Mansion on the Virtual Boy lmao.
you know? it still surprises me to this day that I got an A rank on my first try on the hidden mansion,this was I think back in 2017,I don't know what I did to get an A rank,I'm not even close to being a skilled gamer,I should've gotten the worst rank,but I guess I did good since the game gave me an A rank,I was surprised and thrilled,also I kinda wish this mode existed,the hidden hidden mansion would really test my patience and crappy skills XD

This is a great challenge to give to Luigi's Mansion Speedrunners.
What I learned from this video: Vincent Van Gore was using 0.0002% on both the normal mansion and the Hidden Mansion
Just imagine if every portrait ghost has 1000HP in this mansion. And the Bosses should have 10000HP. For the crown, we have King Boo with 100000HP.

what about 999 health for ghosts, triple the amount in each room, give luigi 1 health, and make fake doors be marked as real ones on the map so you need good memory

I'd much rather get grabbed by a white (Or Lavender depending on how you look at it) grabbing ghost in the 3DS hidden mansion than put up with this challenge honestly. Not only do the white/lavender ones not hurt you and just hold on until you shake them off but they only want a hug. (I always make sure to let a lavender grabbing ghost grab me because of how harmless they are when no other types of ghosts are in the rooms)
