  • I’m thrilled to be returning to Alaska! This time, I’ll be sailing on Holland America Line’s magnificent Koningsdam, a top-tier Pinnacle-class ship. Join me as I document my entire embarkation day, starting from my hotel in Vancouver.

    Excellent video! We’ll be on the same ship to Alaska in August, so I’m especially interested in getting your insights. Your filming exceeded my expectations. Loved the food shots with notes of what’s on your plate. Looking forward to viewing more of your adventure! 👏👏👏

      Love hearing the change of attitudes on cruising. That's why I always tell people don't judge off of one experience. Try at least a different ship and/or destination.

    So glad you added this! We cruise on this ship in 3 weeks! First time cruiser ( family vacation) and I saw your room had a door. We have a joined room as my brother is in the other room next to me. How is the sound? can you hear your neighbour? Do they have black out curtains? Also, do we go through american customs when boarding the ship? I heard they have new biometrics technology? Thanks so much in advance!

      You hear the neighbors a little but not bad at all. Assuming your neighbor (brother) isn’t too rowdy 😉, you should be ok. Curtains aren’t blackout, but they work really well. Never had an issue sleeping. The biometrics was very impressive and super fast! Hope you have a similar experience. Get there early so you can cruise on through. AND ENJOY!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

    Sailed on her in April 2024 and enjoyed her so much we booked 18 days to Hawaii from San Diego. Had an Aft Neptune Suite and really enjoyed it despite the long walk to get to Neptune Lounge. Loved the Dutch Cafe. Thanks for sharing.

    • @AllAboardWithJoe
      @AllAboardWithJoe  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Oh boy, where to start? I should really do a video for first time cruisers. Heck, maybe even a series! Since I'm limited to how much I can write in a comment, I'll say make sure you get to know your ship before hand. Whether it's via TH-cam reviews or just the general floor plan. You would be surprised how much you actually miss even a week on board. I'd hate for you to not discover a cool bar or venue because you just didn't know it existed :)

    Also can i use tmobile service for my phone

    • @AllAboardWithJoe
      @AllAboardWithJoe  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The way cell service works on cruise ships is pretty straightforward. I would highly recommend never using it unless for an emergency. If you connect to the cell tower on the ship, it is costly. I have AT&T, so don't quote me on this since I honestly don't know if TMOBILE has some sort of special deal. I imagine they don't. Give them a quick call and find out just in case I'm wrong :)

    Yelled at for filming? Are you not allowed to film any of the boarding processes? We are going on our first cruise in a couple of months and we are a little nervous about the process in Vancouver-heard it’s a nightmare.

    • @AllAboardWithJoe

  • @ChrisSchofield

    Great video but a couple things. 1) If you cruise a lot you should know they are super sensitive about filming near security. I personally love to film my boarding onto the ship too but lately have stopped because I know its not allowed. So i film walking up to that point, shut it off then immediately turn on right past security 2) Didn't you get assigned a boarding time? You seemed surprised when you were the first after arriving at the terminal super early. Like people are still getting off the ship at 9:30. No wonder the staff looked at you weird, its because they didn't expect new passengers that early.

    • @AllAboardWithJoe
      @AllAboardWithJoe  14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Chris! Thanks for the comment. You're not wrong, but allow me to explain. I totally understand not filming at security, but my reaction was more that he was super rude about it. Without hesitation I apologized and put my camera away. By the way, it wasn't like a big DSLR camera; just a small Osmo Pocket. That being said, he was very rude and later in the cruise he was rude over something else unrelated to filming. Not really a nice guy haha.
      As for your second comment about the weird looks. There wasn't a set boarding time, which I thought was very odd. According to a guest and a staff member, they said Vancouver does it differently. Not sure how true that is because it was definitely odd to me. ALL OF THAT being said, there has to be someone that is first to board, right? The weird looks wasn't a big deal but there was definitely some unprofessional things going on when I was greeted by staff, which I can forgive since those poor people work so hard and were probably just finished dealing with those exiting their vacation.
      Hope that all makes sense. Thanks again for your comment. Hope you stick around :)
