To hear the excitement from both the parrots and their humans really seems to make all the hard work, and attention to detail so worthwhile. Noa really surpassed all expectations for sure, MoMo seemed to show Noa the ins and outs of supreme flight skills, Kona seemed to enjoy getting in there with the flock too. Shanice, Mika and Paul all did a beautiful thing teaching and trusting their babies to fly in extraordinary open spaces, and I'm so glad you found BirdTricks to make it all happen. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Thank you for the supportive comment! Momo, Kona, and Noa came a long way and learned so much through BirdTricks. Thank you for your sweet emotional comment means a lot!!
Best thing to see is the family dynamics. 6 totally different personalities that interact with each other in totally different ways. And yet all 6 are happy, respectful and content with each other. I know there are some rough times (there always are), but those puffy feathers, sleepy eyes and smiles? Absolutely lovely. 😊❤️
Thank you so much for this most memorable trip I ever had. Noa my cape parrot has learned a lot from this trip! Thank you BirdTricks PS-Love the slow mo shot :)
I feel the same way about my alexandrine/Indian Ringneck’s. I’m glad I’m not the only one who compares certain species to other animals. My golden conure reminds me of a golden retriever. Quakers remind me of bulldogs/bully breeds. Kakarikis/rosellas remind me of squirrels, and Indian Ringneck’s/alexandrines remind me of Aliens. Their body language and behavior is so exaggerated and bizarre, but I love how weird they are 😆
Love your vids. We have 2 nine month old Capes, Coral, the female since weaning, and Nemo the male, we just brought into our family. I am very interested in hearing how Noa broke his harness, as we are just harness training Coral and want to be very safe with her. TIA!
I was really hoping there’d be a video on the cape parrot that was in that community post a while a ago, and here we are! I’m a big fan of the poicephalus genus, so I’m really excited for this 😁
I wish I could do this but, my budgie is too small for free flight. Maybe if she had a flock she could do it because that's how they are safer in the wild. They can be in very large flocks up thousands upon thousands as most of you know. I may try to make an outside are that is covered completely like Mikey's family has in the UK. She loves to fly. And I work with her in the house. We are up to using stringer blowing safe fans to provide wind to help her learn wind flight. I'm doing this just in case she ever gets out.
Sadly I'm on night watch as my Eclectus is a bit off. Luckily for me I get to see this guy, and WOW! I'm a very excited exotic animal parent! This is a special almost extinct bird 😊💖👍
th-cam.com/video/ZS-dLqLGiBY/w-d-xo.html Here is a video of her working with Black Capped Conures who are free fly students. Very close relatives of green cheeks and the same exact size. The most important thing when free flying is that you get a professional mentor.
Do these ppl forget flight is the most natural thing to a bird, once we had recall down, I worked more on safety, decent off trees etc its beautiful to see flock mates get to flock fly, my poor bird is the only free flight macaw here.. I need another but id prefer a cage bird who's got a miserable life rather than a chick for my next bird, mind I adore the raising end of things, but I get to raise other ppls birds so am searching for a cage bound macaw for my new flock member..great to see so many birds getting to be birds..
Unrelated question but, why do you feed your budgie Blueberry seed mix and chop? If my budgie is only eating TOPS pellets (I can't get BirdTricks pellets where I'm at ): ) and fresh veg, should I also include seeds as part of their meals? Or should I continue to reserve seeds and millet for training only? Thank you! Also I love your videos! Especially Comet's foot checks
I have actually seen wild Cape parrots (I live in South Africa) they are really cool! Also what is the smallest parrot you would say can be free flight trained?
Hello I have an Alexander parrot he is 5months old could you please advise me how to free fly Train my bird? I have harness too but he is not comfortable and get really scared when he sees the harness, doesn't even allow me to put harness on him.. please help I can't come all the way to you to train my bird but is there a way I can still train him to free fly without getting him lost?
Why is it so satisfying just to watch birds being birds and just flying around?

It is fun to watch the birds fly.

At around 8:00, amazing scenery! Looks like Goreme Valley in Turkey 🇹🇷
So beautiful! I wish I could free fly my Green Cheek Conure, but he's too small. What is the smallest bird to free fly with BIRDTRICKS?
Maybe Jamie will answer you, but until then: Birdtricks fly their 3 sun conures.
Aren't those 2 species roughly the same size?
They fly their sun conures all the time.
