i think theres only a few things that set ronaldo apart from messi and puts him on a level above,
1.his mental attributes, not giving up and fighting until the end.
the best examples are from the recent past, barcelona have constantly been knocked out of champions league always giving up a lead. messi as their captain should step up and stepping up doesnt have to mean just scoring goals. as a captain hes responsible for motivating his teammates and helping them all to play better. but we never see that. he just drops his head and accepts defeat.
how many times have we seen ronaldo bring his team back from the dead on the biggest stage. wolfsburg 2016, the whole knockout stage 2017, juve and psg 2018, portugal euro 2016, atletico since 2012. i mean these are just a few to name.
2. his longevity and ability to perform in different countries with different teams around him.
