Messi and Ronaldo are for sure the 2 best to ever live, but at the end of the day I think people make their decision on who is the best just based on their preferred style of play. Me personally, I prefer Messis style of play more than Ronaldo’s, so obviously ima say Messi is better. We should just enjoy them while we still have em because they’re both at the end of their careers

I think Ronaldo has higher peaks but Messi has overall better consistency. And I also think that the Messi & Barcelona style of play will give better statistics, as they have been the ball focused team, and Real Madrid has been the counter-attack focused team.
For me what edges Ronaldo over Messi is performance and success in national team, and also the Champions League.

Gosh, already written so many answers on this debate and had decided to stop but I have never talked on why I appreciate Ronaldo too- so here is an answer dedicated to that…Still I believe Messi is the G.O.A.T :)
So utterly honest if I be, when it comes to being a footballer and the work done on the pitch- Messi is better, it’s no rocket science. But there are certain aspects of the game which isn’t decided by the goals you score or the assists you deliver or how smoothly you dribble- and those are the aspects which some people use when they say Ronaldo is better than Messi.
What I mean is, all the reasons which people use to say Ronaldo is better than Messi can be summed up in 3 words- Strength of Character
Football isn’t just about scoring goals, it is about scoring goals at the right time and when it matters. It’s also about what you bring to the team
Imagine your team is in a major finale and trailing by 3-0 or 4-0…most probably you will like Ronaldo to come in and do the job than Messi- why? You can’t trust Messi in these situations while Ronaldo actually lives for such challenges- he is always ready to go the extra mile- to give it all.
What most people fail to see is that Ronaldo isn’t just about goals and assists- it’s about what he brings to the team. He brings his insane winning mentality and the never give up attitude to the team- and that’s why Real Madrid are struggling without him- they are missing his aura, not his goals.
Yes Messi has more goals VS the top 6 teams than CR7- but does it mean he will be successful in a league in the longer run?
CR7 is versatile as hell and he doesn’t care which opponent it is or which league it is. In the Premier League, he won the PFA Player of the year two years in a row, Premier League golden boot once and was in the team of the year four years in a row. In La Liga, he has a phenomenal 450 goals in just 438 games winning the Pichichi thrice and in just his inaugural season in Serie A- he was the Serie A Player of the year.
Messi basically is ahead of him in La Liga, right? Ronaldo is ahead of Messi in both Champions League and International arena. Ronaldo has the most goals and the most assists and the most trophies in the Champions League. Ronaldo is currently the active player with most goals and more trophies in international football- he is a beast when it comes to Champions League and International matches.
Also, CR7 is a complete player when it comes to fitness aspects- more complete than Messi. Just ask for a player with physicality, speed, jump, aerial duels, headers, free kicks, penalties, dribbles, power, goals with both feet, leadership- Ronaldo has them all.
Whichever club he went to- he made them legendary. Would Manchester United be the same without him? No Would Real Madrid be the same without him? Obviously no.
What matters more is that Ronaldo isn’t just about goals and assists- it’s also about the massive influence he brings to the team because of his personality. You have a teammate who trains early and leaves late and also trains on off days- doesn’t it influences others and creates a positive atmosphere for the team? Off the pitch and on the pitch- you have this team-mate who brings his insane winning mentality every match- it makes the whole team better- it’s this side of his which goes unnoticed but matters a lot
It’s his Strength of Character that has helped him remain one of the best footballers for over a decade and a half.
    CR7. ❤️

    • @sumzk
      @sumzk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I agree, I believe MESSI is the goat but I respect Ronaldo a lot but you're saying his winning mentality goes unnoticed? That's the only argument people have when they compare him to Messi, it certainly doesn't go unnoticed.
Messi is a great big game player as well, he's being judged on the last two -3 seasons when the team just had to sit back and defend for 90 minutes and 1 more thing I've noticed is Messi is tremendously unlucky. I have instances, Messi misses a penalty in copa America finals and The team loses, Ronaldo misses in 2008 UCL finals but Utd win. Messi doesn't do great in WC finals, team loses, Ronaldo doesn't even play the Euro finals, team wins. Messi is average at Anfield, Barca bottle it, Ronaldo is average Vs Liverpool , Bale wins them the match. The point I'm trying to make is Messi's teams are way too reliant on him, he has to create, he has to score for the past 3-4 years
I'm certainly not demeaning Ronaldo cuz its not his problem, all I'm saying is Messi deserves to get carried, he's never been carried till date, NEVER. It's always only him or him and others, it's never only the others, only Neymar seemed to be carrying us(Barca) when Messi was injured and he left

Or after Neymar left and the MSN trio was dissolved. Yes he is one of the best ever but I want to see him prove himself away from Barça

    • @mewojuayesamson7408
      @mewojuayesamson7408 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@pedromrgdias MSN worked so well because for the first time in Messi's career, he had support. He had someone who could score goals(Suaréz) and someone who could help in the playmaking and assist department (Neymàr). Messi finally had what he wanted since 2012, COMFORT. He was tired of the team depending on him and it has gotten worse. Ronaldo is one of the best players in history no doubt, but he is also a tiny bit lucky. How can you have strikers like Aguèro and Dybala upfront and jokers in the back? Messi does not need to be judged internationally cause it's his team that doesn't live up to expectations.

Christiano Ronald (CR7): His is a machine!! From Portugal. 35 years old, currently plays for Juventus, 1.87 m (6 ft 2)
    Where he played:
    2002-2003 Sporting CP
    (Portugal)
    2003-2009 Manchester United
    (England)
    2009-2018 Real Madrid
    (Spain)
    2018-current Juventus
    (Italia)
So much to say about him... He went to the EPL and dominated the league, he went to La Liga and dominated it too (when Messi was not the #1). Mostly thanks to him, Real Madrid won 3 Champions in a row and 4 in 5 years. Last time this happened was from 1973 to 73 by Bayern Munich. Winning such trophies is a team effort but I'm sure this would not happen without him. As per his team mates, he is the first and last one on training ground every time. He is a true athlete. He has speed, perfect ball control, rarely misses the goal, jumps like no one for head kick, and boost his teammates during a game. He is a true leader. As a Barca and Messi fan, it kinda hurts to say that but I gotta admit it.
CR7 has no equal (I'm not saying he is the best). I can't remember of any striker that can come close to him. Since he played Manchester United (lets say 2005) he was at the top and by far. He was doing more tricks while at Man U but become a lot more of a complete player at Madrid. Just watch his stats, it's just incredible.
Messi and CR7 are the best ever, hands down. They have been on the top of he football world for the past decade and by far. I don't think we've ever seen such consistency in the history of football. They have different styles, Messi is more a team player. He will often start the play in midfield and be a big part of the offensive play as well as scoring. CR7 is more a striker, his team will build up the offensive play for him to score and he does it wonderfully. Messi stayed in only one club (FC Barcelona) which is the down side from a lot of people, others take it as a strength (loyalty). On the other side CR7 played for 3 major leagues and proved that he can be above every other strikers in each of them.
I just wish to see them play together for like 2 season. Even at the end of their career they would destroy any team together.
and as Gerard Pique said: "Cristiano Ronaldo is the best of humans, but Lionel Messi is from another planet."

In my opinion they are more or less similar in terms of skills, but there a real dealbreaker thing.
Ronaldo is a real leader, while Messi cannot lead his teams and that is a huge minus. So in my opinion Ronaldo is the better, because football is a teamgame and doesnt matter how many good tricks u do if u losing, because the team is mentally weak. Since Xavi retired, Barcelona usually crushed under pressure, many times humiliated by other teams, while Ronaldo's Real Madrid was almost unstoppable and dominated Europe, beat all records. Also the Argentin national team always played under real potential, why Ronaldo lead the Portugals to win Europe Cup.
I think almost every football fan saw pictures when Ronaldo hype the team and fight even in losing match, while Messi is just walking sadly and totally dont do anything to motivate his mates.

I feel the same way, especially with Portugal national team, Ronaldo was one of those players that gave that extra motivation to his teammates, even when they are losing, he gives it everything to make the come back. In Barcelona you are right Xavi was the one making the team work and they had one great leader in the field in Puyol. Soon they left Barcelona started to slowly lose their "mojo".

Most, if not all of the best ever football players usually are great in a couple of skill categories (shooting, dribling, assist, aerial, etc). lmao did you even watch this video? I see a whole lot more than just Ronaldo "being at the right place at the right time." he was faster than Messi, his feet were quicker, more tricks & skills, long distance shots & freekicks, left foot & right foot, headers....he didn't transition to become a striker until 3-4 years ago after his knee injury in 2016. he was the scariest player to set foot on the pitch during his prime years at ManU and Real Madrid. he's 35 years old now...of course he can't maintain the exact same standard as before. but 17 years after his debut at
ManU he's still setting records left and right. plus he's a natural leader & captain...something Messi will never, ever be.

Many times when his teams were losing, he was the one making them not give up, you can see that with Real Madrid and Portugal, when they were beat, Ronaldo was there, saying "eu estou aqui" (I´m here) and to me that´s what sets him apart from all the other great players that played the game.

So guys, l have seen BUNCHES of comments on any Messi/Ronaldo video saying Messi is talent, Ronaldo is hard work.
I do not agree. Honestly, you can’t run that fast, dribble just like the ball is sticked to your foot with glue, Be super accurate in free kicks, show the world what chip means in football and pass that beautiful with eating burgers and French fries all day. Especially with the fact that he wasn’t so healthy and used to use growth hormones as a child, That’s just such a weird thought. Messi has an amazing talent, yes, (for example I can’t be Messi with only working hard.) but he does work hard as well. He has trained himself for years to become Messi. Believe it or not.
On the other hand, oh c’m on. CR7 isn’t only hard work as well. He is gifted and does have a super cool talent in football. So, what’s the point of all these?
In my point of view,The truth is, both are a combination of hard work and talent. About Messi, the talent is much bolder bc he does things that drops everyone’s jaws. Since a very young age( If you search for 8 year old Messi’s skills in football you will understand what I’m talking about.) he played amazing. Not only as a kid, but he really surprised adults too. But, well, this special talent needed to be taken care of. To not leave out training every minute. To grow it. And Leo Messi, definitely did that in the best way.
About Ronaldo, he was also a very nice football player as a kid. At a young age, he even used more dribbling and slick skills, beside the high speed. But, his dream, was also to become the best player ever. So he practiced a lot, again, again and again. Probably if we want to compare pure Ronaldo and Messi, Messi’s got more talent, Ronaldo has done more to reach this place to compare him with Messi and the other great footballers, which is really precious to me. So motivating.
Lots of respect for both and I feel lucky that I’m living in the era of this exciting competition, but I personally prefer Messi’s football, Ronaldo’s strong character.

Ronaldo is 35 years old now. Normally a "soccer" (damn that's hard to write lol) player stops peaking at 30-32. He played for Manchester United one of the biggest clubs in the world since 18/19 years old. At that age he was already a promising rising star.
He was one of the fastest players ever, has the record for the "highest header goal" in soccer, is the absolute record breaker in the UEFA Champions League (the biggest club competition).
Took Portugal (a very small country from Europe) to their first 2 international titles ever.
In the debate between Messi and Ronaldo?
Messi is a pure genius, born to play this game and surely one of the best ever. But Ronaldo is the very finest athletic machine soccer has ever seen. He is too fast for his strength and height. A bazooka has a right leg and supper accurate on is weaker foot (soccer players usually only master one of their foot).
There is literally no characteristic or skill a soccer player requires that he doesn't have.
Oh and btw! He jumps higher than the average NBA players.

Both CR7 and Messi are just unbelievable players, surely among the best 5 ever. I think Messi is better in solo goals, dribbling and assists. They are levelled in free kicks and in pretty much the rest Ronaldo is better (long range, headers, speed, both feet). Messi needs to prove himself outside of Barcelona and in the national team. Ronaldo has won the three major national leagues (EN, ES, IT) and an European Championship and a League of Nations with Portugal. He's the full package - left foot, right foot, speed, high jumps, ball control, speed runing with the ball, header, bicycle kicks, scissors kick, bakcheels... you name it. Messi have a Godgiven talent but he doesn't practice half of what Ronaldo train. Ronaldo won everything on 3 different coutries - England (Manchester United), Spain (Real Madrid) and now Italy (Juventus). Beside, he already won 2 major trophies with Portugal national team. Messi won everything only in Spain (Barcelona) when Barcelona have the best team in the world, but as Xavi and Iniesta retired, Messi seams to loose is ability to make the diference, at least as much as Cristiano do. Messi is a tremendous player, really skilled, but only on ball control and spees with ball. Like I said - nobody can compare them.

    The best:
4-4-2 direct counter : Ronaldo, real threat in the air, always in position, scoring ability, good crosser and is overall the better complete footballer.
4-3-1-2 possession: Messi, patient when need be, excellent dribbler, looks for one-twos, vision, keeps the ball well and is overall the better technician.
I hate Tiki-taka, it can become a boring feast of passes with no intention where falling asleep is easy, my preferred style is direct play with the ball on the ground and thus I would choose Ronaldo, if tap-ins were easy everyone would be making 40 goals a season, in fast movement play Ronaldo just is where you want him to be. Others love the old Barcelona which is beautiful when played with no restraints, Messi is far better suited here and the best in the world at it, the patient game waiting for the explosive moment.
Having chosen Ronaldo over Messi is a style preference as both players are so similar in "overall" skill, with that said I can see Messi adapting easier to a more direct game than Ronaldo adapting to a patient game, Ronaldo is not the most patient of players ... he wants things to move forward at all times (my kind of player), screw patience.

Legs are different than hands with hands you want to gain strength the precition is more natural even if you have to practice but legs are stronger than hands you have to learn more precition than strength and be able to shoot with both legs is not normal in football only the most skill players do it in a high level in a match

Number 7 is reserved for Real Madrid legends...
    Juanito, Butragueño, Raúl, Cristiano
Now they gave it to Hazard... well, I have my reserves on that

In my own opinion, the difference between c.ronaldo and messi is tha Messi is pure gifted player thats why he's so humble and Ronaldo is work so hard than other player to achieved what he had today, and maybe that's make him a little chocky but they're both are really nice guy in personal

I think you should also watch some videos of defensive players, just to give you the perspective of how important and difficult it is to defend.
I'd recommend you to watch Sergio Ramos, Carles Puyol, Maldini, Vidic... I don't know, to put a few names. I'm sure someone could say other amazing defenders.

Ronaldo is probably considered by most to be the greatest goal scorer of all time, Messi the greatest player of all time. I think most people can agree with that. That being said in a Real Madrid fan and it was truly a joy to have him. Greatness. Ps: the video you reacted to isn’t the best. Messi has had a pretty strong mandate on the Spanish league having. Won 8-11 league titles in the last 11 years. They call Ronaldo mr. champions because he is the champions league (most prestigious competition in Europe) highest goal scorer of all time. One aspect he has over Messi has been his decisiveness in knockout stages of that competition and in international play having won 2016 euros with Portugal ( an underdog ) and the nations cup in 2018 I believe. Messi has lost 3 finals with Argentina which is considered to be historically a powerhouse. That being said if we just sit down and watch fútbol Messi is the goat, regardless of wins and losses. They both have an extensive amount of individual awards and feats. Ronaldo has 5 balón d’or (trophy at best player of the year) and Messi has 6. They are 1 and 2 all time in wins. Undoubtedly the two best players to play the game and the only two to dominate the game at the highest level for over 15 years.

Messi is like MJ and Ronaldo is like Lebron playing in Same Era.
