I like the sound of the Carven. I did have the Flowmaster Outlaw Extreme. It was so loud I ended up taking it off in a year. I couldn’t hear my radio or the person talking next to me. The outlaw sounds like a Race Rally Tacoma. It definitely woke the neighbors on a cold start and in overdrive. So I’m just buying the muffler from Carven and having it installed in place of my stock.
I dig it. Carven probably has the best sounding option for the Tacoma I've heard outside of the TRD exhaust. If my TRD exhaust ever needed replacing I would look at Carven
Dude 100%. It sounds really really good on it.
@@TRDJon do you know if this would fit on a 2.7l Tacoma? I can’t find anywhere saying it would
@@Yes-qqqq no would not. Different engine and exhaust piping size.
Thanks man great video. Just ordered and thank you for the discount code. Haven’t install anything on my taco in weeks and super excited!
Glad I could help! Enjoy!
I went with the MBRP 3" turndown for my tacoma. Sounds really good partied up with my S&B cold air intake.

I personally like the carven exhaust for the Tacoma good video man just got mine installed yesterday 🤤
Enjoy Steve!
Sounds crazily amazing, can't wait to hear your 4runner has this on.
Same.
Thanks Calvin!!
I saved my pennies for months and went wild with Black Friday sales so I’m tapped out for awhile. Adding this to the never ending list,. Looking forward to more.
Sounds great Ryan!!! Glad you enjoyed
Have an Overland Tailor Tune installed on your Tacoma 3.5 and you’ll have all of your torque begins at 2K RPM and continues until redline.
This also STOPS your Tacoma from hunting for gears in your 6spd auto transmission.
I’ve also noticed a 2mpg increase in my fuel efficiency.
I immediately added a K&N intake to my 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road and I’ve been looking for an awesome sounding exhaust.
I’m an old duffer but I still enjoy that guttural growl from an engine.
I’ll definitely be adding the Carven to my Tacoma.
Man, sounds so good 🔥
Thanks man!! Really enjoy this one’
Just got it yesterday. I’m waiting until this Monday to put it on. So early Christmas gift for me
Hope you enjoy it!
You can get the stock exhaust off on a TRD O/R without taking the spare off. You can do it on flat ground with a little work, or you can park the left rear wheel on a curb and it will open up the space you need to pull it out. The Carven is small so its a nonfactor.
Yup just got mine with this same exhaust and it sounds great!!
Right on! It's so good!
I love my carven! I will say when you axle dump it, the drone is a bit worse with the sound reflecting off the ground so if you can I’d definitely recommend only doing axle dump when you go off-roading.
If you you’re someone reading this with a 6mt Tacoma hearing it bang limiter is amazing too lol. With the factory 4.30s and being on 33s rpm’s in 6th at 70 are about 26/2700 and it’s a little bit droney but my tires are definitely louder.
I get compliments all the time about the sound which is not normal having a V6. Definitely the best exhaust for the Tacoma out there!
sounds great. will likely be my next purchase!
Hope you enjoy it!
Hello friend, I have a super 10 flowmaster and I like the sound. Do you think that one of these Carven exhausts will improve the sound even?
I owned 2 new trucks 1 was an 09 tacoma, and a 2010 rock warrior with the 5.7 your exhaust on the tacoma sounds great cold start.. I struggled with the tundra finding an exhuast to replicate an american v8 note. The Nissan titan v8 sounds sick .. point to this was u said the tacoma exhaust sounds like the tundra and I was like whatttt. Then I see u have the new v6 tundra..
Yea should have been more specific lol. Try maybe Gibson for yours?
I have this exhaust on my 22 Tacoma. There are times I like it and other times I don't. Worst is when cruising highway with cruise control on and even the slightest hill truck downshifts and exhaust just gets annoying, which on a longer trip happens multiple times. Then in town cruising around its not too bad and I like the little burbles you get when downshifting. I'm at the point of possibly reinstalling the stock exhaust. I kept it just in case I wanted to switch back.
Same reasons why my dad doesn’t want to install an exhaust on his 17 Tacoma, he already went through all of that with his previous truck and reinstalled the stock system on it, got tired of the drone.
@@STILLNIGHTPEARL I don’t blame him. I actually reinstalled my stock exhaust this past week. I was over it. I enjoy the quiet now. Just not a fan of it for my daily driver. Now I just have to sell the Carven and get some of my money back haha.
@@goldenflash0588 yeah man, I mean they sell the quiet exhaust systems, but those literally sound like stock, what’s the point right? I’m sure you’ll get most of your money back since that system is popular, and at the end of the day if people can save some money, they’ll buy used over new.
I had the same issue it’s cool driving in the city but when your on the highway it’s annoying I had the same issue driving on the freeway long distance so I went back to stock
I just put my stock exhaust on after running a flowmaster flow fx for a year. I forgot how nice it is to not have to talk over my exhaust/ listen to music over the drone.
We have a flowmaster flowfx on our 4Runner
Drones at 2k+ and once it finds a good gear, it’s pretty quiet
Even when decelerating, zero noise after a short little burble noise
When we gun it though… it’s a different animal. I also added a simple k&n filter, it pulls harder now with the exhaust
I can only imagine how much harder it will pull with a full CAI
Put and S&B on it and she will rip even harder!!
I have a flow master on my 2018 tacoma and boy it Roars in Florida traffic!
Sounds sick!
Thanks Dray!
Curious you think the axel dump would make it sound different? Reason I ask I want one for my 23 tacoma but can’t decide Flowmaster one or this one
it sounds great .
I'm saving my money for that 😂,really sounds good 👍
I am sorry if I missed it in the video, but this seals the deal on which exhaust I liked. When purchasing it on the website, you chose the short bed right ( if I am not mistaken, my SR5 bed looks the same as yours in this video). Once again, sorry for a silly question, just want to make sure.
Mine is a long bed. 6’
Install a Helmholtz resonator/chamber and that drone at cruise will be a non-issue.
Is this the carven TR, installed the Gibson on my 4.7 V8 4Runner but having problems with axle pipe vibrating on rear axle and exhaust tip hits rear trailer hitch. Considering carven R exhaust as replacement, Gibson too quiet.
Sounds good
Thanks Joe
Wow it sounds awesome for me.
Glad to hear that!
You were able to fit in the full-size spare to fit with your upgraded wheels?
I still have the stock tire size under the taco
Why put an aftermarket cold air intake on? The factory box is already a cold air intake
How are you getting that kinda MPG?
Will this system work on the 2023 models? By the looks of it the stock systems look the same and looks like it would fit.
Should yes
Will this interfere with emissions in California?
Dammit I love how it sounds but I need it to be high clearance
Those rrw wheels in the first shots look sick! What offset were they?
They are -12
CODE: TRDJON saves 5%
@@TRDJon thats great thanks for the code too! Did you have to do a cmc?
When are you installing a carven exhaust on the 4runner?
Whenever it is back in stock.
Can you post a picture of the exhaust with the axle dump?
I can’t post here. But if you look at the link in the description they have a photo
I wonder how it would sound if you had a slight cone shape to the exhaust end, might take some of the drone sound away which sounds a bit irritating (for long periods). I owned 2 Honda CBX 1050 6 cylinder motorcycles, one new and stock which had the stock exhaust and the other was modified which had a modified exhaust (6 into 2), sounded amazing, it was cone shaped along the pipes to the end and it gave off a real nice smooth f1 sound to it.
It seems the cone shape design changes the sound to more of a quieter sound at idle but revved up, it sounded like an F1 (for a lack of a better word). The new exhaust is a bit noisy at lower rpms Jon but a nice design for sure (my personal views). I noticed that wiring harness on the rear end, do you think that might be a bit close to that exhaust? Sorry Jon, I'm a fuss bug at heart and on my own vehicles when I work on them, hehe. Thanks for the update and a nice exhaust design for sure. :)
Always thanks for you input too!! The tip is a 4” tip so a bit bigger than the piping too. The smaller muffler is bold and loud for sure compared to other tame exhaust. But Carven definitely prides themselves on being loud, bold, and different.
@@TRDJon Thanks for the reply Jon, well they get an A+ for Bold and Loud for sure, hehe, doesn't hurt to experiment a bit though to strive for perfection or give different sound level options, I don't know anything about Carven only from what you stated here, take care. :)
For you! You too. Thanks!!!
The sound fits the Tacoma pretty well.
It really does
It would be good to know how it sounds while towing something.
You will definitely hear it no doubt, especially when at 2-3k rpm.
Maybe I got used to it but after having the exhaust on for about 2 years, I feel like it got mellower
That’s how the Tundra one is to me as well. I know it hasn’t been a few years but it’s been a few months now.
Have you done the OTT tune on the Tacoma yet?
No I never installed that
"I like the exhaust so much that I turn the radio up louder so I don't hear it!"
Yeah, that's a great review
How would does this sound for a Tacoma with a 4 cylinder 2.7l ? I don’t want it to be annoyingly loud. And if I had to choose between this and the Afe what would be better ?
Can you do more. About tundra 2022 please
What do you mean?
Gibson trail elite has a high clearance dump
Nice sound from the exhaust.
You might want to get a shift controller that you can plug into your OBD2 port. I’ve found it lowers the RPM’s from stock, improves shift points and can gain 1-2 MPG’s at highway speeds. By reducing RPM’s will also reduce the drone at highway speeds.
How does that work with out re gearing?
@@TRDJon
Stock gearing has you go at least 72 before it shifts to 6th. You can leave it in stock mode or go to the 3 modes available. I still have stock tire sizes. Also improves off the line acceleration as stock starts in 2nd gear.
Ott tune it
Sounds pretty good. Curious why you changed the wheels out?
Selling the truck and wanted to keep the other wheels
Which lift kit you use? And how much is lifted?
OME BP-51. I have a full video on my channel about it here th-cam.com/video/y4TxZRPjTGo/w-d-xo.html
Is this exhaust compatible with a 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport?
Yes. Just pick your proper cab and bed size
Now try some glasspacks!
Oh gosh hahaha
Awe vs Craven which sounds better with low drone
idk was awe is.
I can't really tell if it sounds like a bumblebee🐝 like Rob Motive's does ? it is nearly impossible to get any sound out of a V6.. It seems the quieter they are the better. A V6 is just a generic imbalance..
I haven’t heard his. The one sounds more like the motor itself sound is amplified.
@@TRDJon Okay that's good.. his sounds like a lawn mower is following him.🤣
Oh dang. This one to be has a deeper tone
@@TRDJon 👍🤣
It's louder that's all it matters.
Let’s do 500miles on highway to see if there is any drone. I’m thinking buying one of these just afraid of the annoying drone.
I did about 80 miles today round trip and wasn’t annoyed
Thanks Jon, I think I will try out with Carven. Considering the price is better than TRD.
For sure!! It will be a little louder than TRD but for me at least first impressions it wasn’t an issue
Of course! I hope you enjoy it! I have a discount code as well in the description.
Brand of the wheel on your Taco?
Nitto
Sounds like a raptor
It does a little huh
what is the price of it?
Linked in description with code
Yea this 3.5l engine is impossible to make sound really nice
My opinion is still the same as on the Tundra. Just skip the exhausts on V6s. Just not good.
So sure exhausts aren’t for everyone. I appreciate you watching still.
What muffler from carven
It's linked in the description
I don't think you should sell this Tacoma. Please keep having fun. For years.
I was thinking the same thing when I had it on the lift at Yotamafia yesterday…but need to not get attached to it and move forward with the vision in my mind.
Borla is the best, no one else comes close to Borla, that was very poor packaging by Carven, Borla packaging is superior because they use expanding foam to protect the exhaust during shipping as is their product. Borla uses T304 stainless steel though out their entire system. Almost every other system uses 409 stainless steel which is inferior to T304, 409 will rust. I went to Carvens website and I can't find anything on the type of pipe they use. Are they using aluminized pipe, or are they using 409 stainless steel pipe? They don't say so I can only guess that they are using inferior 409 stainless steel that will rust.
Stick with companies that use only T304 stainless steel the cost difference is not that much, Carven is charging $629.99 for their inferior 409 stainless steel cat back while Borla on a double cab with the short bed is $828.99 and with Borla you get T304 stainless steel.
I installed a Borla Cat Back on my 2023 Tacoma 2.7 four cylinder extended cab with the 6.1 foot bed, the V-6 cat back system bots right in with the Borla extension pipe that is used for the double cab long bed Tacomas. I have a video on my site showing the Borla installed on my 2023 Tacoma extended cab long bed 2.7 four cylinder.
Whoo, first!
Thanks man!!! Enjoy’
😂biurifo😂
Can you install this on my Tacoma?
It's very very easy to do
You must have it for free because that shit doesn't sound good at all! Idk you think anything other than stock sounds good on a V6
I guess you didn’t listen to what I said in the video then.
Must be getting old as that sounds…uh..painful and lots of vibration. (Obviously each to their own!)
Vibration?
4R and Taco v6 just sound awful no matter what exhaust is on them. You need different headers and even supercharger to make them sound good
Fart can
You need some Orange Virus in your life brotatochip.
