Thank you for this guide, I had spent nearly 13 hours trying to get a server created and allow my friend and I to join. Once I got to your vid, everything was done in like 20 minutes.
For those people having the issue where their server only shows up on LAN and friends can't see it try changing the Query port in the Ark server manager to a different number then port forward like shown in the video except use the new number. This would be in place of 27015 in the one he named Ark3. Your server should show up in unofficial instead of LAN now. Just make sure when looking for it inside of Ark you check show password protected servers if you are using a password.
If your router does not have NAT loopback turned on you will be unable to find your server using your public IP address as well. ASM also does a check to determine whether your server is accessible and it works whether you have loopback or not and is indicated by the server Availability at the top of ASM. Available means everything is setup correctly, waiting for publication means you still have a networking issue of some type. Some ISP's use CGNAT which will prevent hosting a server you can verify this by comparing your routers WAN IP address to the Public IP address listed at the top of ASM, if they do not match your ISP is using CGNAT and you won't be able to host a server without using a VPN that supports port forwarding.

when i try to download the server it says "Invalid URI: A Dos path must be rooted, for example, 'c:\'." how can i fix this ?
I also had this problem. delete any folders youve made, uninstall and reinstall the server manager and be sure to set the data folder to soemthing like "C:\steamcmd\arkserver". if the destination is too long it causes issues and if its less than one folder below C:\ it doesn't work.
Does this still work
yup
when I run it and it asks if I want to run it as an administrator when I click yes it just crashes every time, any thoughts?
(edit) so I just restarted my computer and now when I click yes, nothing happens at all
Hi. Thank you for the video. I recently changed my modem and updated my ip address on the ASM, however my server isn't showing up when I launch Ark. Do I need to update any of the server files saved on my PC (ini files perhaps?)? Also, my server availability is now showing as LAN only. I have a new modem that is a duo modem/router, so my whole set up has changed. Any advise is appreciated. Thank you.
hello...everytime I try to see if the port is open it says it is not but the internet company says it is
Is there an option for it to be cross platform? Like a ps4 can join the server
No this installs the Steam version which is only compatible with crossplay using Epic Clients.
Would you be able to help me figure out why when I click "Start", I see the black box pop up for a millisecond before it crashes? I have an error report I can't understand if there's a way to get that to someone to help me out xO
So, with this, can I play on the server while hosting it? sorry if that's a dumb question
yes, just use direct connect in-game to your local IP Address : GamedataPort
@@KeySmashStudios i got problem here, how my friends to access my server? I already give them my ip and port but they still cant see at unofficial and access my server.
@@tommiwijaya1672 It's probably a port forwarding issue. Make sure you go to your router and forward all the ports on the right side of the window.
@@KeySmashStudios i already add port 27015,27016, 7777,7778 but my friend still cant see my server. At Ark server manager still server still initializing.
The dedicated server works out perfectly for me, but when my friend try to join it's just saying "server not responding". And the server dont appear on ARK servers, neither on steam server list for him, but it does for me. How can he join? We are playing Abberation, if that have anything with the problem to do.
This is usually a problems with ports. Run the server, then go to a portchecker website and see if the ports are open, if not then that could be the problem.
@@NB-Tarro Port checkers do not work for Ark Servers, the best indication as to whether your server is accessible is the availability indication in ASM, if it says waiting on publication you have a network issue preventing players from connecting.
windows defender isnt very happy with me running this, is this normal?
Depends on settings. There's nothing harmful in ark server manager
Followed to the word and am getting an 'Unable to find RunServer.cmd' error. Any ideas?
Update: Going from Win 7 to Win 10 is a nightmare and in Windows 10 for some reason my ability to run batch files was turned off. I fixed this and have set up a server that I can enter and see in steam without any issues. However when a friend of mine is trying to join she is getting a 'Server not responding' message when using my public IP to connect.
Anyone had this problem?
