Hey there KJ! I bought your plans and parts list about 6 months ago, haven't gotten around to starting the project just yet. My biggest issue so far has been trying to find A arms. my understanding is that I cannot use two sets of front A arms for this build (front A arms in the front and front A arms in the back). That being the case, Is there a different ATV model i could find IRS a arms that would fit your plans? I am also curious what the eye-to-eye measurement is for the shocks used. The reason I ask all this is I have found it extremely difficult to find a polaris 525 IRS in any useable condition, and the rear suspension parts are equally as difficult to find it seems. if you know of any places to find them that I don't know about, that would be much appreciated!
Hey, thank you for joining in on the fun! Rear a-arms are included in the plans. They have worked great on everyones builds. The shocks are roughly 16” eye to eye but the chassis is pretty easy going as far as shock mounting so they don’t meed to be a specific length. You can use polaris predator front shocks on all four corners as they are very similar to the outlaw shocks. I’ve been picking them up for under $100 each on ebay. The ktm 525 is definitely my favorite but all kinds of different engines have been used with great success. I hope you get started soon, we all love new builds!
Well the chassis is definitely made to be a blank canvas for whatever you are dreaming of. So many different builds with their own personality from the chassis. Check the description for a link to downloadable plans to get a huuuuge head start. Enjoy the build 👍
These are awesome! I've dreamed a lot about opening up a karting place with karts like these on a dirt track with a bunch of features. I think it would be so cool! Almost exactly the types of karts i was envisioning!
This is the best video I’ve ever seen in a while. This guy here is someone who truly wants to show someone how to do something because every other video you could find someone trying to do this is spending thousands of dollars or is not showing you how to do it correctly this man here is an example of someone who could do something correctly and cost-effectively. I was gonna build one of these over the summer, and I had no clue where to start but this man here showed me how to get started correctly and at the same time it looks pretty cost effective so if the man who made this video sees this, I would love to say thank you and you could truly do good work in the world
Love it! That thing rips! Love seeing people fabricate things instead of just buying. Great job, looked like you really enjoyed building it. I can't decide what I want to build next myself...
I absolutely LOVE what you did on this Kart. I've got a rebuilt R1 engine that I'd love to put in something like this... but I don't have the welding or fabrication skills/tools to do it. Wish I knew where I could buy a frame that would let me drop my motor into!
Thank you! When it comes to fabrication, the hardest part is to start. Once you bend, notch and weld your first piece it's all downhill. It's extremely difficult to make a roller because there are sooo many different engines out there. Take a crack at starting fab work, you won't be disappointed, and I show you everything step by step. I wish you the best!
Lot’s of first time builders having success… I did a budget kart that has a predator 420 and tops out around 50, great way to cut your teeth before building one for lightspeed.
I really get this feeling because this project looks rather large and all, that taking on a task like this would be better in a persons home shop or garage of choice rather than in a driveway freezing thier ass off! I think that's fair to say with how junkie countires have got with quality! And shows here the work is still tough enough! I mean kindness goes a long way becuase this work is accomplished with love! I would think that makes this go alot longer with care in mind! What a quality build! Idk, the camera angels where as quality as the welding!
Wow that is absolutely crazy. I am looking to build something like this using your blue print. Could you approximately tell me what each thing cost. Because I don't want to spend money on the blue print and then find out I can't afford it. Also how long of a time did it take. But great job! Work Of Art. Looking forward from hearing from you.
Man they are so fun!!! Fun to build along with fun to drive. All of the info you are looking for is on the channel. This is a well documented build and I walk you through every step to build yours. Here is a video to get you started… th-cam.com/video/2hvp7eO6W2s/w-d-xo.html In short these can be built for under 2k all the way up to whatever you can afford. My average build cost for the ones with gears is around $6k. Enjoy the build 🦾
This looks way more fun than an ATV. I think that would be a good donor source for all kinds of components, in fact almost everything except the frame. You could probably use much of the front and rear frame clips for the suspension....just fabbing up the cage and cockpit area.
Yup! That was the idea. And man does it work well! I do make tabs for the suspension just to customize it and align it correctly, but yes. The VF-1 Chassis is a blank canvas for however you want to set up a single seat kart.
brilliant.....every petrol heads dream / fun"". Great choice of engine. I like everything you have done. My own preference would be keeping stock carbs air box & exhaust, instead of air filter pods.
Thank you so much! There are so many people building this, and they are all successful. We have a real movement happening. I wish you the best with your builds 🦾
Thank you so much! This is not a business. It is my hobby that I’m sharing at the request of like-minded garage builders. So many guys want a project like this so I was happy to help out.
Awesome job, I appreciate and definitely notice your fabrication skills, just a heads up, if you throttle up on those jumps it will level out the buggy, just from listening to the sound, when you guys hit the jump, you instantly let off the throttle, causing your nose diving that you guys are experiencing. Go the speed your comfortable at hitting the jump, then once you hit the jump, pretty much go full throttle. You usually wanna hit jumps in a lower gear so you can get your rear wheels up to speed faster while in the air to level out your vehicle.
Thank you. It always takes guys a few jumps to figure that out but we film all of them, I left the first few in there to show the front end doesn’t dirt dart when you are learning how to jump. I’ve ridden dirt bikes for 20 years so I know about goosing it on the lip. Once guys (and gals) figure this out they can’t get enough!
Thanks man! Lot’s of guys putting their dreams together with this chassis. It is a blank canvas for your imagination. I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Enjoy the build 👍
You’ll get there. I fishmouthed a piece of tubing, welded it to another piece; and when I could hit it with a sledgehammer and the tube bent before the weld broke I started building. I wish you the best!
Thanks so much! I get a lot of comments about the yard, but I bought the extra land for testing and playing so I could’t be happier. It’s pretty rocky but healthy so you can’t even tell someone had the time of their life after two weeks and some rain.
What a great project. If you improve your welding skills, you will be unstoppable. I was surprised how rough the welding was considering how good you were with all the other fabricating and engineering work you did. If you work with a pro welder even for just a few days, I think the improvement would be night and day and add to the list of things you do very well.
My welding is fine, it’s just not very pretty because I don’t weld every day. I’m a father, husband, and military aviator so this is just a hobby I’m sharing with you guys. I’ve built 5 of them with no failed welds and you can see I’m not easy on them. Thank you for the compliment part of your comment. Stay classy 🖖
@@KJRaycing Then we agree on everything. I never had any worry that any of your welds would fail. It's purely cosmetic, when everything else looks so good, it's the one thing that stands out (at least for me). Don't ever stop building. The video was very enjoyable.

this just makes me wanna complete my shifter street kart motor swap even more. someone offered me a kawi 636cc motor but i said no because the frames to small.

The stability of the cart at high speed when turning is just crazy. Amazing project! I'd like to make my own modified version. 😮👍🏻
