Thanks for bringing back the tuba matty... wadda trademark for your channel... in fact when i made my blunder in the course... the tubas will be playing in my head🤣 lovvit
I'm a 12 handicap and my buddy is a 4. His short game and bunker play are far superior to mine and his ballstriking much more consistent on average as you would expect. There are days that I beat him, and that is when I'm hitting all of my stock yardages and tons of fairways and greens with solid putting and typically those days I break 80 or am right around it while his game is a bit off in turn. I would say the best way to lower your handicap is to practice a lot especially your stock full shots with every club so it's automatic and simple once you hit that groove on the course. Short game is important but if you are not blessed with much touch or have the chip yips just focus on getting your ball on the green when you miss your approach the safest way you know how with a given club and two-putt bogey at worst. Aim away from bunkers if your bunker game is shaky, including on your drive. Leave yourself around 100 yards out on layup shots and short par 4s to get a full shot in. Aim with margin of error on the drive and approaches to the fattest areas with consideration to your natural shot shape. Manage the course and recovery shots in a realistic way to your game. Always be aware of speed vs. line on the greens and accept that bogey is not always a bad score...it's about saving strokes not and blowing up to doubles, triples, or worse. In essence, always play to your strengths while putting some thought into the highest percentage way to play the course based on those strengths and that will breed confidence to help drop that handicap lower when you are clicking out there.
Awesome video. I was a 16 handicap for a long time for a lot of the reasons sidekick talks about to much thinking between shots I couldn't hit or aiming for the pin instead of just hitting it to the center of the green. I now have gotten my handicap down to a 9 with a lot of practice first and foremost. Course management is big aiming points are big ALIGNMENT is crucial to hitting your target pick a spot 40 yards or so in front of you then to the spot where your target is pre shot routine playing with confidence to minimize some of the bad shots because they are going to happen we all try to emulate what we see on tv when we watch the pros and it's never going to happen play your game your strengths and build off that
Something I notice between how Matt and Mo play pitch shots (brought on by watching the first hole here): Mo has much less hand involvement that enables better striking.
