The sight without the side protectors are the M1. They added the protective wings around the sight for the M1A1. The A1 is also where they switched to a fixed firing pin in the bolt. Great video on a great gun, though! 👍

Glad you did. I refinished this Thompson a while back. When it first came in it was chrome. I stripped the chrome and reblued it.

With the modern versions costing between $1,500 and $3,000, it is quite an investment (auto-ordinance).
Compare that to $16,000 to over $25,000 for an original WW2 one, yeah quite a price shift.

New Auto Ordnance Thompsons are all semi auto not full autos. The price is more based on being transferable and not the age of the gun.
@@BWEFirearms You can blame them not being Full Auto on the 'Firearm Owners Protection Act 1986' where 3 sentences made it illegal in the United States to make or own any machine gun made after that Law went into effect.
In case you didn't know, I don't like it nor the NFA. If our military can use a gun/rifle or any other weapon it should be available to the general public.

Hey man off topic but here it goes. Get your whole body scanned including your head. I went through the same thing with my grandmother and they didn’t scan her head. It ended up spreading to her brain and we caught it too late. I believe if she was treated better and more properly she would be here today. Just tryin to help. Have a blessed day man.

@@bigpanda6787 From what my doctor told me the type of cancer I have never travels below the thigh and the insurance companies don't want to pay for it. When I beat this we will do a full body scan to make sure.

I love shooting the Uzi but there is just something about the Thompson.
Not Richard, but I find the MP5 and Uzi to be much more user friendly, though the Thompson is probably the most iconic.
Was there ever a Suppressed M1/M1A1 Thompson? A Special made Fluted Barrel with holes with the Suppressor Encasing the Barrel would keep it fairly short.
To my knowledge there has never been a Thompson with a ported barrel. The .45ACP is subsonic so there is no reason to port the barrel. I know people have cut the barrels shorter and threaded them for a silencer but that is it.
There actually were a few military ported thompson barrels for use with an integral suppressor extremely similar to what you've described. However not on the thompson SMG. They were used to build the DeLisle commando carbine.

looks like the rifle is long range 1000 yards and you can make it into a machine gun!
@@dennisgarrett2044 It's the original version of the HK G3 machine gun/HK91 semi auto. They are not accurate out to 1000 yards unless you are talking about the HK PSG1.
Will this bolt work in the 1928a1? Eliminating the blishlock.
It will not. The bolt is side cocking on the M1 and M1A1 Thompson vs the top actuator on the 1928 and 1921 Thompson's and their variants.
No, as Dolphinvet stated the bolt handles are in different sides on 1928s and M1s.
