- It's good to see more handgun options in 380 ACP for new shooters, those with weaker hands strength or recoil sensitive, that aren't pocket pistols. The Ruger Security-380 has a 10/15 +1 magazine capacity, a Lite Rack Slide, and low recoil.

That safety is very well thought out !
Just got this baby. Man it’s nice. The 1911 grip angle and the 15 rounds in a Glock 26 size. So cool. Can’t wait to get it and start carrying it. Only 200 rounds put down range so far but no failures. Also 40 rounds of Federal 380 hydrashok deep no issues.

Got mine a few months ago and it was love at first shot. Easy to shoot, carry-even with the 15 round mag, and take apart for cleaning. Its become my primary CC. Especially liked the grip texture. Gives a good grip without being rough on the hand.
A very nice review, thanks. I really enjoy your videos. I have the Security 380 and enjoy shooting it. I like the 380 round and was wanting a higher capacity 380 pistol. I also have a Glock 42. I think Ruger hit the 10 ring with this one, a Goldie locks for me. It is light to carry, and one point to mention is the Security 9 compact holsters fit perfectly. So we have many options already available for this new pistol. Cheers.
I think the magazines are the same ones for the mayor for the security 9. Also they fit in both mine. Can't put 9 mm in it but the magazines look as identical except for a little bit and a 380 had extra deal inside the magazine like a little square but he goes in and out of them security. 9 just like it was made for it

Almost perfect for my needs, old, nerve damage and arthritis in hands and wrists...Old eyes as well, optics ready would have made it perfect for me...North Carolina Engravers solved this with a optics specific cut and applied Cerakote finish to prevent oxidation that seems to be a common issue with these Ruger handguns..😊
Good points. Also, .380 ACP minimizes the risk of overpenetration.
I'm 69 but I have no issues with any caliber of pistol (so far lol). I bought one of these recently pretty much because it's so easy to shoot well and it compliments my LCP Max. Great review, and great pistol.

Old farts, like me, will be looking into the feasibility of a firearm like this. This isn't just a woman's firearm. With the boomers aging, expect men and women to express a lot of interest.
I'm really confident 380 is not under powered with the newer SD rounds.

Another great review!! I am planning to purchase this model to rotate with my Sig 365-380 (WC -XL) for cc. IMO these are great sizes for 380. Plus, the price is good. The Beretta Cheetah seems nice, but the price is really high!!
I've had a Sig P238 since they came out way back when. Love the gun and it is still one of two in my EDC rotation, the other being a 9m.
With that I've been looking for a 380 ACP with more capacity than my Sig's 6+1.
The Ruger Security 380 might be the one.

I thought mine had an issue, but I see yours is the same. The ejector.... mine is bent to the left and down and I thought it was a bad part, but I see yours is the same. I would like to know from Ruger if this is a messed up part or if it was designed that way. I am also Leary of the mag followers having little toothpick sized leges that gold it in place instead of the bottom of the follower being a full skirt like it should be. Plus these are using the 9mm Mags with a spacer, and the followers are a full 1/8” too short from front to back, allowing the nose of the follower to tip up and the slide rub a groove in the follower. I just wished they had not went so cheap on the mag design for such a nice gun.

Good review! It has a loaded chamber witness hole or viewing port. Not a loaded chamber indicator. My Sig has an indicator that I can feel when a round is chambered.

Bought one for my wife for Christmas. Been a POS since I unboxed it. Malfunctions nearly every round. Failures to feed, eject and go into battery with four or five different ammo types. Back to Ruger with this one. Really wanted to like this pistol too.
Grand Power makes 3 double stack 380acp, CP380,P380 & LP380 .... I'd really like to get the New Beretta 80x ....
Other than it having a manual thumb safely i haven't seen any cons for this firearm.
And the manner in how the safely functions its not bad at all.
Its a very good gun. And i for one do feel that 380acp is a very good round for concealed carry.

Good video! I have a bit of arthritis in my hands and need an easy rack pistol. This looks like it will fit the bill. As for the .380 for self-defense, I asked my brother, a cop who carried the 9mm (and a damn good shooter), years ago about it when I went to buy my current .380. His reply? "Practice...shot placement is everything and the .380 will stop the bad guy." Thanks for the video!

So true. I occasionally hear comments about my 84fs, that a 380 is underpowered. I answer that .380s have been used for decades quite effectively and as former firefighter, I have responded to lot of people who were DRT (dead right there) who had been shot with a .380. I know I wouldn't want be on the wrong end of one.
It's only takes 1 shot placed on the critical mass area. Not 10-15. Someone on drugs maybe😂
watching your trigger finger...........Squeeze, don't jerk. Believe it or not, Your trigger finger does have an impact on where that projectile lands. Squeeze that trigger, DO NOT JERK IT! Save that for your moment for............well we know. hehe.

Got 1. Love it. Dont understand the bitching about the great external safety on this gun. Just another great wsy to carry one in the chamber. No way in hell am I carrying a CCW I can't carry with a round ready to go.
