I think he doesn't want to give the player the satisfaction of reacting to resets. So instead he just hides it behind the "expression" thing. And as for flowey he was just pretending not to know. As flowey says When he realizes ur milking him: "'your just like me" and this means he did a similar thing. And maybe he did that with sans. And since sans realized what flowey was doing he just stopped acknowledging the resets as best as he could. However on the genocide run his goal is to annoy the player enough so they reset. This is confirmed when sans says:" I know I CANT beat you. One of ur turns... ur just gonna kill me.. so uhh I've decided.. it's not gonna BE ur turn.... ever... I'mma just keep having MY turn til u give up". So he wants to taunt u after each death to annoy u. But doing this would give away that he remembers. So that's why he mentions ur expression each time. And he would try to "play dumb" each time he acknowledges it like when he says:" did I getcha?". That's just how I feel about it.
Sure but too be honest, you are pretty much writing your own story at this point. I mean it's fine, all this is fiction in the first place. I only mean to point out that the narrative intention in the game is to have a character that can comment on things the player does but isn't as antagonistic as Flowey. Toby solved this by making Sans' knowledge based on hypothesis/scientific guess. I like the nuance of sans, he isn't just a nihilist, if he could remember then that would mean all his jokes and relationships are just sad lies, which I think contradicts the spirit of the game. It's also fairly obvious that Flowey would have figured this out during his millions of resets, which would also contradict his role as a player allegory since he has 'seen every line of dialogue' if sans could remember, Flowey would have someone to talk to who always has something new to say and thus his getting bored with the world would not be as soul crushing. I guess TLDR; Flowey is the real all knowing, all powerful, and most of all *tragic* character that a lot of people want sans to be. Also, if you start focusing more on the reasons a story/character was written a certain way in the first place, instead of just in-story explanations, it will make both viewing more enjoyable and make you a better writer since you'll be able to identify and interpret more nuanced characters/stories. He doesn't remember resets, but knows that the human is using them. He feels like he met him before, and the human acts like he already went through all of this. Sans just guessed, that maybe, he has an ability to control time, but only in one way, by reseting. I think he doesn't know that it's called reset. And, because of that strange acting, like he knows the future, and maybe controls time, he jokingly said "next time". If sans knew, sans wouldn't do the same things he did in the past, now would he?

(I’m very behind in the UnderTale Community 😅) I saved my point at the button puzzle part before heading to Toriel’s house, but I didn’t save the part where I spared Toriel and talked to Sans, and I died afterwards. And then I learned about the save thing and when I talked to Sans again that’s when I saw this part of the game (at the beginning of the video). I guess some people knew how to save and assumed Sans knew all of the resets, oh well.
I have a challenge for anyone who doubts that Sans can remember the reset. The challenge is to explain how Sans counts how many times Frisk dies if he doesn't remember the reset?Expressions? Okay Let's assume that Frisk makes a variety of annoyed expressions like 😠, 😡, 🤬, 😒, 👹, 👿, allowing Sans to differentiate each expression based on the number of deaths. The question is, how can Sans associate 😠 with one death, 😡 with two deaths, 🤬 with three deaths, and so on, given that each expression could have many interpretations and infinite possibilities? There are so many potential meanings for each expression that if the probability is calculated, the likelihood of Sans correctly guessing your total deaths eight times in a row is (1/∞)^8, meaning it's impossible. Now, can you tell me possible methods, besides 'Remembering Reset,' that Sans could use to determine how many times Frisk has died?" Additional point: Sans not only need to guest how many time you dief based on Frisk expretion but he also need to guest when he kill you with faked mercy based on Frisk Expresion wich is also annoyed expresion.Meaning that this 😠 expresion not only could means "You died __ time" but also "You died by Faked Mercy"
I can add a proof to you: Sans doesn't read expressions because he says that he loses count on your deaths, which means he was counting the whole time, not reading expressions, also half of human's face is covered in shadow, it's been probably made by Toby Fox for these people that can't think not straightforward, so it's a really bad excuse

@@madladdie7069it doesn't prove anything because even if he does remember resets it's impossible for him to remember if you were friends with him because you do True Reset after Pacifist route, which makes everyone(even Flowey) forget so not true
Canon sans:hey chara what CHARActer do you want :)?
Fanon:HA I'M SUPER DEPRESED!
Gacha:hey im sans im depresed i can remember of reset I know about the au haha!
Canon chara: =)
Fanon chara: i murdered everyone im the blamed for genocide hahahah es ez
wait why does sans doesnt use max power bc he got the blue eye but he got one more eye and is blue and orange eye
Imagine if sans and flowey teamed up
They would be like unstopeble
go play ice bound
they probably won't because Sans doesn't like Flowey's vision of the world, if he was ok with it he wouldn't be the main reason of Flowey's resets
sarcasm is a thing you know
all of those are sarcasm
frisk always has a -_- face but in genocide, they might have a =) sometimes but not in actual gameplay
6:35
you know
floweys resets where a looong time ago, frisk mightve made lots of resets after that
memory fails sometimes, you know
and also, paps could be being pranked by an actual echo flower
This comment has alot of might, yeah sans might not remember another timelooper, yeah he might remember, yeah Frisk face might be a smile, and like you said, in game your sprite is something, in game maybe Frisk is pissed of by Sans trolling.
@@indie_gamer7tell that to Sans who can't even see the half of human's face because it's covered in shadow and force him to read their expression to prove us something
You know he could be trolling you about the echo flowers. Pretending he doesn't know just to give you a scare.
it's really in his spirit, but people now stopped thinking like they should think and started thinking really straightforward, and it's not only a problem in these theories, it's also means that people started degrading, which is really sad because all the time great philosophers tried to write without being straightforward, even Jesus Christ wasn't straightforward in The Bible(The Whole Bible isn't even straitghforward) and I'm starting to get afraid that it will get worse with time but I will pray to God for Him to give people wisdom(ok I probably went to deep into religion, sorry for that I'm just a christian)
I think he can remenber of resets like flowey but didnt true reset
true reset erases the save file and replaces it with a clean one
@@halobreadsame with world erasing after genocide
@@Marselo-uo7do yeah I disproved all the things in that video in one comment but I don't remember if I explained why he doesn't remember true resets, the proof is him mentioning special attack, he asks if it sounds familiar, and he does it even if the first route you take is genocide, which means he only assumes that you have beaten pacifist route before, which also explains the "I guess we never really were friends, huh?" line
he can remember loads but not resets
because he has small amounts of determination
he doesn't actually. in the genocide fight there's a line from him that's like "don't tell the other sanses that". he doesn't remember loads. he just know they are happening cause he's a scientist who's measuring that stuff.

Dude he probly said that bc he is a comic he dus stand up comedy
Also I am pretty sure Sans will become trapped in the Undertale universe. For all the "dirty brother killer" memes, he doesn't seem to care that much for Papyrus, perhaps cause he isn't his original or actual brother.
True sans kills you or at least tries to when you kill his brother but with his friend eh not really he's more a protector to his brother than to his friends but he still cares about them but not as much as his brother so yeah
@@rosacinnamon404 no he doesn't kill you if you don't do a genocide, if you kill papyrus he stops watching "over" you (he doesn't stop undyne ecc) and judges you. The reason he doesn't attack is because he knows that you are able to reset the timeline and that if he fights you or not it's totally useless (in a neutral run when you kill papyrus he says something like:"you're not welcome" and then:"see you later"
This is because he knows that you're going to reset, but he won't remember anything apart the dejavu everyone gets, thus reaffirming his point that you are a time traveler aka you have reset.)
@@Matt-wj3zy oof That comment is so old lol, But Yeahs I figured that out later, Because I gotten confused at that time because of the fandom. Your right though, Ive played the game, and Figured out that He cares about everyone, It's just that he doesn't really try to stop you, (Unless Genocide) because of Reset, People get really confused because of the Fandom and Canon stories are much more diffent
The “did i getcha” was most likely mocking you. The “don’t tell the other sanses” was probably referring to the AUs that would be soon to come about the game. He also 100% knows about flowey considering
Echo flowers dont pop out of the ground. He was probably joking considering most of the fanbase knows about flowey’s background. Sans still “reads you expression” in pacifist perfectly on the exact amount of resets. Hes too lazy to do that, and on genocide he cant tell the exact reset numbers of when hes killed you perfectly THAT MANY TIMES
Other sanses was the future himselfs because he knew the player would die
How would Toby know that his game would have AUs? Also it's not because he is lazy he wouldn't have a way to track to see if someone is a timetraveller, this one thing you said falls flat with other diologue in game.
Toby Fox isn't all-knowing, he wouldn't know about the ludicrous amount of AUs (or even really any of them) before releasing Undertale, and if Toby wouldn't know, neither could Sans.
@@Darkalmswhen you die you still meet the same Sans, but you meet other sanses when you beat genocide and erase the world and create new one, the proof to this is that all characters forget everything, for example Toriel forgets your pie preferences, even Flowey forgets everything and it's all because it's in another timeline(when you load or reset you just load a point of the timeline you were in, even Sans says that timeline are jumping left and right until they stop, which references to death of the world)
