Good video and explanation of the benefits of a subcompact. I don't think it will be long before Paul gets one! Tractor Hard! 🚜💪!

I’ll take a dedicated mower and use the bx for tractor use. Saves many hours on the tractor as opposed to endless back and forth cutting grass.

I got rid of my zero turn because it was terrible in hills. Mine was a Bad Boy Maverick so it wasn’t a little thing. It was much faster on flat than my Kubota B2301.

I own a JD Z turn that I have had for 10 years, a BX 2680 and the B2650. I only now own 2+ acres of land and the B2650 is way too much for this property. The BX and the z turn are the work horses. If I could only have one piece of equipment I would take the BX. Great machine.

All great points. The versatility makes one feel better about their investment. I bought my sub compact tractor with a belly mower deck for the exact same reason. After 2 years, I ended up buying a dedicated mower. Why? I'm tired of being the only one in my household able to "transform" the tractor into a mower, then back into a tractor. It stretches the time it takes to mow & adds work each time. A dedicated mower fixes that, which adds value to my investment in the additional equipment. I'm also able to keep my tractor with the loader on & belly deck off, making using it significantly easier & involves less prep work to get started on the job.

I have used both zero turn and 2 series Deere and I have found that a finishing mower on your 3 point hitch will give you much more stability on a hill side than the belly mower. It seems to act like big beaver tail for stability.. I had it on there and mowed a ditch with it regularly, when I tried to mow the same ditch with the belly mower I put the tractor on its side.

Oh man! I’ve never used a 3 point finish mower. I know the bush hog does help stability though. Lot of weight low to the ground.

@@christophergallagher531 little crack on the plastic hood and the driver side lighting on the roll bar got knocked off but got away with very little damage done. Was almost able to keep it from tipping jumping off the side and pushing it up to get it past the steep part but the stupid stafety under the seat cut the motor off and left me there holding it on the side of the ditch. After this I rigged that pressure switch in bypass mode .

You are lucky, when it comes down to it.
I know what you mean about the safety switch. Many of the stupid maneuvers I do require follow through with power. Kinda like a race car in a banked turn.
Stoping at any given point can come to a bad end.

Mowing is a big part of how I justified adding the BX 2380 to the line up.
The blades came bush hog sharp, not mower sharp, but I have not touched them. Finally hit a root yesterday, woops. Can't see a change.
Like all my mowers, I trimmed the rubber safety shout back to the inner bar. That's a good 4" off. This really helps send clippings farther out dispersing them better with less clumping. This is especially use full in wet conditions.
The machine with R14s floats way better than my Yanmar 2020D with ag tires.
In fact it helps roll out old ruts!
I still need a lawn tractor to get in tight spots, where the ropes keeps me out.
Also I am finding 2,800 rpm is plenty in most cases. This saves fuel for sure.
    Good luck out there Chris

    • @gregorymacneil2836
      @gregorymacneil2836 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I got the B2601 for that reason and the ground clearance. The extra 3-4 inches ground clearance makes a big difference as does the loader capacity if you are using forks.

I have never driven a BX, seat on one twice. For a 6’6” 350 pound guy with big feet it was hard to get on and off.
But a lot of people love those little tractors and from what I’ve seen they are good work horse.
But yes the B2601 fits me and what I’m doing at home better.
I also had a little time on an LX with a cab. If you’re a big guy with a belly don’t do it. OMG GET THE BUTTER.

If all that property is his he should be looking at something bigger. I have the B2301 with a woods 60” finish mower. It also weighs a little more and can do more work. I rarely bog my 2301 down. Also lifting capacity is much better and the 3pt hitch on the B series is way better. Also look at the size difference of the axles and then 3 speed trans it way better.

With the B model I was surprised on how tight the turn radius was. I had a craftsman GT6000 it turned a little tighter but not much. I have the R4’s on and thought there goes the lawn. Once again surprised it doesn’t rip it up. I was going to get the LX but OMG price difference with everything from the tractor to what goes on it. Butt at the end of the day it’s up to you. I’m just a guy telling you my experience.

My dad tried to get me to buy a big tractor. I told him I did not need a B-52 bomber. I needed a sniper rifle and that’s what a BX is! you can win a lot of battles with just one bullet 🤔😁😁

My neighbor smoked his zero turn belts a couple weeks back cutting property across the street they bought that hasn't been mowed in years. I finished with the B , shaft drive is a beast , the deck belt is massive, I'm on 5th summer same belt and blades. My cub cadet cost more to mow with belts , blade wear and about double fuel usage over the B. Did he buy a BX23S yet ? 😃

Gator blades! Put Gator blades on your machine if you can.🙂 The lease packages are such that if you can get enough work out of the machine two to three days every month you can justify the lease. The downside of the BX is the ground clearance - if you have forest step up to the B2601.

I have not tried Gator blades. The stock ones looks like they will last years.
For sure the BX is low. I pushed the limit once or twice in the woods. Luck was on my side.
I see there are after market shields, and short cuts to replace the hydro cooling fan.
The positive trade off is the lower center of gravity.
I looked at the purchase, in terms of cost per hour to run as well as other factors.
In this case the more it is run, the less it costs per hour in respect to payments fuel and maintenance.

@@christophergallagher531 The gator blades mulch or partially mulch in so far as the deck is a side discharge.
I ended up getting the B2601 for the ground clearance but I would have preferred the slightly more compact BX. The lease option is excellent just for the insurance - for me - the Kubota reduced my property maintenance time and effort from 5 days to 2 or 3 per month so it paid big time - plus more flexible scheduling options. I cannot imagine having a large property without my Kubota.

I have a sub compact and a zero turn. The sub compact is scary on side hills and slower to mow with around trees and obstacles. Also, the belly mower is a nuisance when using the tractor for other purposes. Just saying.
