Everything you said is accurate. The problem is GC and down players rarely make decisions well. Either they always stick around without boost, control every ball in front of net in a 1 v 2 or push another of these ideas to an extreme. I would love to see more content about players being honest with their capabilities and just letting the opponents make mistakes. Bc they will almost all throw if you bang it over their heads and let them try to make the 1/10 perfect play. This is how my old man hands gets GC in multiple playlists every season.
Yes, because rocket league is a situational game. You must be able to recognize what the best play is according to your situation, which realistically, comes after thousands of hours of gaming.
I have like 4k hours in game and still can’t decide correctly. And I don’t know why. IFK how to tell what my mental block is. IDK if I’m OVERESTIMATING my abilities and playing too aggressive, or underestimating and too passive. But it’s probably both of those in any given game
I do not think it is a "problem", it is a part of learning curve. Step 1 - don't miss the ball when you don't mean to Step 2 - do not hit the ball when your teammate intends to hit it Step 3 - when you hit the ball, hit it in the direction you intend too Step 4 - when you are not hitting the ball, position yourself to follow up the play Step 5 - do all previous steps faster Step 6 - refine Step 1-5 until perfection

I swear I’ve got to have 1000+ hours in this game over 5+ years and I CAN NOT fly at all. It melts my brain. I’ve peaked at C1 and will never be higher
@@KMACKTIMEAre you decent in training packs, never play training or feel like you can't do it at all? I think practice helps but sometimes the blocker is lack of practice, lack of application in games or it's just really hard. C1 is great for not great aerials, I can't make champ and think I'm ok. @@TheSpinlippy I wish I had the time to practice with training packs. lol I’m lucky if I get a few hours a week now with work and family. I’ve accepted I’ll never reach C2 or higher
I think the main thing missing from this list is where to look, which is hard to see from a replay obviously. I’m assuming that most players around my level aren’t actively watching their teammates and opponents enough to make a lot of these decisions consistently. Maybe I’m wrong though.
Amazing video! This is very in depth and actually provides a solution/things to look for. A lot of videos point out the mistakes and then offer a solution of “don’t do that” rather than what we should be doing.
Awesome stuff as always Virge. Was just watching your video on shooting a couple of days ago, and it has helped tremendously. Keep up the quality uploads.
I’d love this video for 3s as well! I know a lot of these count for 3s, but I feel there’s a bit different rules for 3s as well. Thank you for the video!
This is pretty accurate. I follow a lot of these patterns and I'm low C1 when I'm playing well. Personally I'm still in the "hit the ball away" mode of a lower player, instead of "control the ball" mentality. This video is well reasoned.
I swear man, all this videos are soo useful. I was a bronze player only 2 weeks ago then climbed up to GC3 simply from watching 2 road to SSL series (leth's and flakes') and now, after seeing your video I finally got what I needed to make the final stretch to SSL. I thought that RL it's one of those games where advices don't really matter at all cause it's a fast paced game where you don't have time to remember all the single advices every one told you. So you simply have to play enough to actually improve at your own pace and any strategic and tactical advice simply can't be implemented cause somebody else told you to do it. But woow, apparently I was 100% wrong. I have to say, it's truly amazing how helpful this videos are and how they taught me to stop time and actually have as much as 4839 minutes to think about the most optimal choice in every single position. I owe my SSL rank entirely to you Virge, to Leth and Flakes. Hopefully watching this kind of videos and also some tutorials on how to half flip and double flip reset, I will become pro in about 2 weeks time. Wish me luck Virge.
As a diamond myself even before I was diamond I always spammed the wall to ari dribble training pack which noticably helps with my off the wall plays in ranked.
Boost over ball is definitely the worst thing up until low gc. The amount of times people don't recover on small pads or stay around low boost but rather go all the way back is mind boggling to me.
I def do that it’s cause I don’t want to be overcommitting it’s pretty hard for me to realize what’s overcommitting and what’s keeping pressure hard to balance it
Yeah dude, and it compounds with other mistakes too! Like the play at 1:10 with the over-aggressive position, he got into that position because he wasted all of his boost, then instead of positioning for pads, went straight for the corner boost.
Genuienly I think the spinning too much during aerials is down to lack of control and mechanics as well. I find myself way too often randomly spinning when I take off, not because im trying to look cool or freestyle, but just because I don't understand which way the car is going to turn when I press the air roll in certain orientations, so then it comes down to guessing a direction and over-correcting in the same direction as the momentum you've already guessed. Solving this just comes down to more hours doing aerials and getting comfortable with car rotations.

Players are always holding each other back. I recognize all these mistakes from my own play, but so often when trying to correct positioning errors your team mate immediately starts calling you out for not making plays. Meanwhile they're going supersonic all the time, but never making meaningful contact with the ball. And before anyone says "well go play casual then", honestly the most toxic games of my life have somehow been in casual lobbies. I've no idea what they're all so mad about in there.
