Hi, Paul- thank you! It definitely is. 😁 I had to work this past weekend, but will be on the mill tomorrow! 😊 It’s finally cooling down a bit here tomorrow, so should be a little better than lately! 😁
Hi, Justin- Pretty much! It’s funny…Beth told our little boy that I was at work and he said, no- that’s not work, that’s his job. So, to him when I’m at the sawmill/ build site, I’m working. And, when at my “real job”, I’m at my job. 😂 It’s definitely a busy time, but we think it will totally be worth it. It also helps that our build is right next to where we are currently living. 😁
Thank you, Todd- The perspective from above the build is just awesome! It gives such a different view and we are excited about it! Keeping the job site clean is definitely important to us. Both Erik and I definitely have type A tendencies so it’s probably to be expected! 🤣
It sure was nice to have Erik back out helping on the barndominium build! We worked on floor joists and blocking- both pretty tedious tasks, but nice to have the help for sure - makes the tasks go by a little faster! Hope you enjoy this video. 😊
Hi- This 65 has four on the floor. But I restored a 53 Ford Customline in high school that had three on the tree with a fladhead and straight pipes. Beth went to prom in that car😁
That would have looked awesome- we will still see a part of the beams on the first floor. Second floor will definitely have better views of beams. We had to make some sacrifices for that second floor, but worth it for the extra space. 😊
Hi, we purchased our plans through @barngeek . Aaron then customized them for us. He’s great to work with! Price for our build- honestly, it’s TBD. And it all depends on your choices. We our using SIPP panels, standing seam metal roof, lots windows….all adding to the cost. It’s not cheap. But, where we live, it’s definitely less than a custom build. Hope that helps!
Deck joists should be treated. The ledger board should be held off the house by 2" blocks to help prevent rot when the snow melts and freezes. This is done in cold winter states were the water can sit for long periods of time.
@@ourdreaminthewoods If snow can sit on it for long periods of time i would do as i pointed out above. In VT house rot next to decks is very common and keeps carpenters very busy . Ice shield Water proofing under the sheathing is a must, air flow is also necessary. I have seen $1,000,000 log cabins turn to mush.
Have you heard about sealer, stained or both? Lastly, your the type of person that uses pressure treated lumber in direct contact with regular lumber......clown
Looking good. If you are feeling the temp, just think about doing the work in the winter at 0° and snowing!!
Thanks for bringing us along
Thank you, Mike- Very true!
I do have a cooling towel that really does help during the heat! 🥵
Wow, that lift is such a time saver and I’m sure it feels much more secure than a ladder! Awesome!
It’s the MVP for sure- can’t imagine a ladder! 🤣
Sure is beautiful, can’t wait to see the wings added .
Thank you! We are excited for that, too. A little milling first, then we will start on those hopefully next weekend! 😁
Drone shot is so cool!
Loving the drone right now! 😁
Subscribed - awesome craftsmanship - hard work amazing structure- from Hopkinsville Kentucky & Jacksonville Alabama Watch the heat !
Welcome- And, thank you! 😊
Two words. Well done.
Hi, Don- Thank you!!! We are pretty proud of this! 😊
Aww, love the Bo cameo! 💜
Thank you! He loves bringing daddy and Uncle Erik popsicles on hot days! 😁

Howdy y’all- got a lot done over the weekend. Checking in timbers is just the nature of the beast. Take care and stay safe and cool. God bless

Glad to see Erik back!
Yes! He is a major player in this build! 😊
It’s really starting to take shape! 🎉
Can’t wait for you to see it! 😊
@@ourdreaminthewoods I’m so excited! 🤩
Days off, what's that lol. You've been working 8 days a week as far as I can tell. Excellent work!

Looking real proper, congratulations, gonna be a beautiful home.
Thank you, Kurt- we think so, too. There’s just something so amazing about these Timbers! 😊
Another beautiful drone shot, fantastic! Great job keeping everything clean and organized on the site. Classic Douglas fir coloration shaping up.
Thank you, Todd- The perspective from above the build is just awesome! It gives such a different view and we are excited about it!

Costruzione molto bella e architettonica. Complimenti per il lavoro che state facendo.
Thank you so much! 😊
wow you guys this is so beautiful!!
Thank you, Heather! 😊
Looking good, very nice job!👍🏻
Thank you, James- Appreciate it. 😁

Your 65' brings back memories. Almost was my first vehicle. That one had just too much rust. Is yours a 3 on the tree?
Hi- This 65 has four on the floor. But I restored a 53 Ford Customline in high school that had three on the tree with a fladhead and straight pipes. Beth went to prom in that car😁
I would get the roof on before it rains
Our SIPP panels don’t get here until beginning of September…
Because I would like to add those upgrades to my sawmill to make it more accurate
Maybe should have placed floor joists on top of beams to show heavy beams from below for effect.just my thoughts.
That would have looked awesome- we will still see a part of the beams on the first floor. Second floor will definitely have better views of beams. We had to make some sacrifices for that second floor, but worth it for the extra space. 😊
would stretching some used cheap billboard tarps over the top help to keep sun/rain off and provide shade until the roof arrives?
Probably. But, I think we are going to push forward. 😁
😊
Thank you, Bart! 😊
Any chance you’ve got plans for that build? And a rough price?

How did your upgrades help you with the building of your sawmill building?
The man lift will get the most valuable tool or machine by the end of this build.
Hi, Erik- Most definitely the MVP of the build! 😁
Deck joists should be treated. The ledger board should be held off the house by 2" blocks to help prevent rot when the snow melts and freezes. This is done in cold winter states were the water can sit for long periods of time.
Hi, Bill- the deck will be covered, does that make a difference?

In Arizona we call more than one joist "joists". Is "joistes" a word where you are?
Hi, Donald- Did I say “joistes”? Sorry about that! We also say joists here in Idaho. 🤣
I would not let kids ran under the lift , it is not safe
You are right. Greg and Erik were very aware that Bo was there, but it’s definitely better to be safe. Thank you. 😊
