Meanwhile James Earl Jones is having tea with Tolkien in the great beyond.
That thought actually brought me joy after this tough week. Ty!
Oh man. Add Alan Rickman on that beautiful scene. 😢
And David Prowse, him and JEJ can meet in ghost/person.. For the first time!
I like to think of him more of a Force Ghost who whispers ways of love and wisdom into the minds of those with that kind of a persuasion.
Chilling with God laughing at all of us
Some funny comments I have found on other videos -
1. Anya Taylor Joy looks more elf than every elf in The Rings of Power.
2. The actress who played Galadriel once described her character as older than moon. Someone commented "older than moon, but still act like spoiled teenager".
3. Peter Jackson hired actual elves to play elves. Amazon hired orcs to play elves and writers of the show.
4. Amazon is orcwashing the elves.
oh she would have been a perfect galadriel
Amazon's "elves" are so mid and average
i miss really really good looking tv actors, i dont care if im shallow, the modern day "writers" are even more shallow
What's wrong with a sexy elf.
@@YouilAushana Where are those? The entire show is diverse humans posing as fantastic races. There are diverse humans, diverse pointy eared humans, diverse short bearded humans, diverse short child-like humans and ugly AF humans.
Everytime I watch something on Amazon Prime, Amazon tries to automatically start the Ring of Power at the end credit, without my permission.
40m viewers also include viewers who watched a trailer. This is not a joke. It also counts any of the autoplay starts, even for a second. Source: My college buddy of 20 years, who is a high powered executive there.

I don't understand why it's taking people so long to see the truth. With movies & gaming they tried to replace fans/customers with the so called "modern audience". All of them must truly dislike us to do that. Turning on your customers is self destructive & on purpose. Everyone should be able to spot poor sports because playing fair is not something they do.
Blackrock and venture cash is very alluring I suspect.
The irony is that they’ve only revealed themselves in a way that cannot be unseen.
They never like us in the first place, because we don't belong to their privileged rainbow community. All these propaganda are meant to absorb or "forced behavior" us into submission. Hence, their new "modern audience".
Because, the objective of these shows is not to make money. The objective is to control the narrative. This is why, for example, TH-cam implements Orwellian changes, despite causing users to flee to other platforms.

Nothing happens in RoP. Literally each episode feels like a filler with no substance
I got plenty of other crap to fill my mind with
Well, that first minute was a wild ride worthy of Mr Toad. What else you got for us Gary?
For some reason my Facebook thread has been full of RoP stuff and all positive (of course) and it's frustrating and rage inducing. Love Tolkien and despise RoP and I'm bombed with the articles about it. Algorithms just going crazy ? Facebook paid by Amazon?
You're carrying a digital footprint between social media venues. So, what you do on, say, Amazon will be reflected on Facebook. Consider also that your phone is listening to you.
Largest institutional shareholder of Facebook is Vanguard. That should ring some bells why you get those articles. That and Blackrock are root cause of many things wrong in the world.
Wbat the heck is Facebook?
The comments are pure gold.. shills stating it's a masterpiece.. bestest show evah!
Yeah, I'm getting that on Threads. And several of them are authors! I couldn't believe it. Just imprinted a mental note not to ever touch their books. If they can't see the issue, morally or technically, then I can't imagine their own writing being anything other than a dumpster fire.
We should have stuck with George's vision of no underwear in space.
I think that 40 million is counting people who view clips of the show on TH-cam or other platforms.
40 million, 'interactions' or 'engagements'?
On streaming platforms, a preview of the show can be viewed before purchasing/watching a show. I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon was using these preview views in their totals (40 million).
Evil? I didn’t think Disney was involved in the Rings of Power project
That explains a lot.

The problem with Hollywood is that most people there are just idiotic businessmen or crazy activists and not artists who want to bring joy to people with good stories and beloved franchises!

My sister said to me "do you still watch Star Trek"?
Nope I'm a straight man and not WOKE!
ROP is just high school theater with expensive costumes
You can't take RoP seriously when the actors & showrunners themselves don't, and judging by the interviews that they give, they just do not take it seriously. Any actor playing Galadriel who describes the characters as an "Elf disgrace" does not take the character seriously.
"Evil cannot create anything new" , true that.

Amazon 40 million view: they added all the trailer views,
Game of Thrones was so popular that there were articles about how significant about of internet traffic was watching GoT.
TH-cam could be great. Instead we got unskippable pre roll adds.
The viewership NEEDS to increase because the COSTS also increase season over season. It's unavoidable.
Take cast salaries, for example. Regardless of how the show is going, the lead actors have to be paid more because their presence becomes increasingly fundamental as time goes on. GoT subverted this, to a degree, but it was true even for that show that killed off many lead characters. Beyond the actor pay, the story complexity increases which requires more money into editing, sets, CG, etc. These shows not only need to bring in more new viewers but have to increase repeat viewer watch time to make up for the increased cost. Yes, there are exceptions where cast members have agreed to take pay cuts or smaller raises, but that only highlights the issue "Ring of the Rings" is and is going to be facing.
Surely, Rangs of girl powah is "Ship it till you Make it"
It's like modern writers and their approval commeties don't understand what the word "fantasy" means unless they associate it with memories of tawdy teenage fantasies.
Game of Thrones became a cultural phenomena. I never watched it until season 6 due to the Dragons playing a bigger part. But even I knew about the show from online chatter and memes. Especially when Sean Bean got the ax and people talking how often he dies by the end of anything he was in. He didn't even survive in LOTR 😆
Season 2 is where I believe it became a phenomenon because no one would stop talking about it and Season 3 was all the rage before it even aired.
Fun fact: Sean Bean lives more than he dies!
He just dies more often in more well known roles/films/shows.
@@James_Bee By that, can I infer that the movie/show will be successful if Sean kicks the bucket in it?

also was different back in x file days, they put it on 9:00 friday and if you werent there you missed it - for the most part that was still the mentality - they put everything on at that time so they had to compete. you had to hear it was a good show before you would miss whatever you usually watch at that time and wait for the reruns
Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films were overhated.
Certain parts of them were not good. Have you seen the fan edit? Removing the love triangle is a must in order to fix it.
Well, he was going to just make 2 movies, but the studio heads insisted on 3. So he had to pad them.
@@PChazman1 yeah I don’t blame Jackson. He had to work with what he was given and was told to do.

Well Nolan's garage is probably the size of most people's apartments ^^
I abandoned ship when they asked why boats float and stones sink.
The first season was like watching the Titanic sink. Season 2 is watching the Titanic hit the bottom of the ocean and break apart.
Of course Amazon is going to try to spin the story and say that ROP Season 2 viewership is strong. Anything to get their way.
God bless Perry Chan, holy shit lol
A lot more Gary (and just in the USA):
The series premiered to HBO records and is averaging 29 million viewers per episode across all US platforms, according to the network. To put that number into context, season seven of “Game of Thrones” averaged 32.7 million viewers per episode, and season 8, its final season, averaged 46 million viewers.
"Checking the calculator" needs the math sequence from The Hangover overlay-ed lol
I wonder how many of those partial views are accidental views of Amazon Video automatically playing something once what you watched has finished
I love how every video has classic game music in it. The ocarina of time shopping theme just ties that much more authenticity to this!
I'm tempted to shop for all the seasons of The Venture Bros. and rewatch that. I'm going to save so much money canceling cable.
I've also got a pile of books I want to read, so my posture will improve, not having to look at this stupid computer.
Do it, I just took up Tom Clancy books, its great to read again.
Bro my wife taught me what VPL is
"Authenticity will be the ruler..."
True words, but also, I think that is already the current standard. People go to TH-cam, because they want authenticity. The movies that do take off, RRR, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Godzilla Minus One, all took off because of authenticity. People are going back to the old days, early 00s, 90s and beyond, to watch more authentic tv shows. Its not GOING to be the ruler. It IS the ruler. Hollywood just needs to catch on to the fact and business will be booming!
Fake it till you make it, is a phase ment for an upward movement. Not a landslide, speeding past people downhill. Saying, " Yeah things are looking uuuup, great successssss."
Sure, but people are insulated from failure in very large organisations, to a degree that they are able to maintain a comfortable illusion of success because their jobs rely on doing a small part of the overall workload. Without a leader, everyone is left to be responsible for the failure. So, they pivot to find the weak link in the organisation.
The audience is the problem… stems from this idealistic performance view as an abstraction from reality.
Ie because everyone was paid and they did a great job, why not pay the audience to like the show as well…
"some"
I mean, I've seen some in a few reactions, that have been utterly destroying it.
I don't even know what service it's on, wait, it's on Amazon, I just remembered.
Never used Amazon before.
They offered a free month, which I registered for, then they asked me for my payment info, that's when I "stopped" registering.
I paid with my name, my location, my email address, and now they want me to pay with my banking info too? That was where I drew the live and what do you know, everyone who didn't do that, and tried to cancel, couldn't for one whole month...
Debt is what everyone's addicted to.
The issue with TH-cam, is that it will errode with the corporate media failure. If they start failing and falling off, there will be less to critique. So there needs to be some genuine content creators step up to fill the void.
The whole media, gaming etc is collapsing, which I think is what they wanted
The problem is (and I don't think Critical Drinker is in this bucket) that there's not always strong cross-over between being a critic and being a creator. The pushback against the woke BS in Hollywood has come largely from critics and that's who's been elevated by this community. Nothing bad in any of that. But the mistake some of those critics are making is thinking that they can become the creators that fill the void, which isn't the case. TH-cam also incentivizes people to keep doing what they've always done. So the critics have to keep criticizing; nobody is making the switch to pushing good stuff.
What we really is some kind of collaboration between non-woke novelists, indie game devs, filmmakers, etc, and this community. But so far that transition isn't happening.
Every episode of the Rings of Power is worse than the one before.
Their only achievement
Good thing I bailed on GOT season 2. Got so much done with my life
To say that corporations have never been authentic, and now it's coming out, is a bit simplistic.
Corps were reasonably good at putting out decent products and shutting down failed ones, back when they had to concern themselves with making money.
Then, towards the end of the past century, easy money became a permanent fixture of our economic system. Corps transitioned away from profits (which they took for granted), and towards prestige for their executives and shareholders.
Their desire for prestige by virtue signaling is just as authentic as their predecessors' desire for profit. It's just not very conducive to hiring competent people and making quality products.
It's like trying to sell a new Star Wars show by saying they will have purple lightsabers. "Fans will be excited to know there are purple lightsabers in the new series". Yeah, just what fans were looking for - Tom Bombadil.
Sauron being a thirst trap I think is based on the letters of Tolkien where he said something like Sauron basically took on a beautiful form to “seduce” those he needed to into accepting him. Peter Jackson actually filmed scenes with Annatar and Aragorn fighting but later decided to scrap them. So, unfortunately this isn’t one we can shame Amazon Studios for. It may not be in the actual books but apparently Christopher Tolkien may have written about the letters revealing this.
I thought this was well known. I’ve known this for years.
X-Ray is using a calculator? your ancestors reject your abacus failure.
I gave the rings of power a thumbs down, a 1 star rating and also told it not to recommend it to me... When season two came out it was at the top of the recommendation list for me.
Amazon is doing some serious pushing for this disaster of a show.
The beginning broke me from laughing 😂😂😂😂
Record of Loddoss war is a better show.
Still have the original OVA on DVD.
Perry Chan going for some old school Zelda music today.
40 million is how many people got a glimpse of the preview when they were scrolling Prime.
For GoT ratings you must also consider that many people had watch parties where 2+ or several people got together to watch.
Wouldn't that only still show as 1 person rating?
So those GoT # are actually probably much higher.
Somehow I dont believe RoP is having the same type of watch parties.
These people have friends?
I heard that live but wasn't ready for the edit :)
"The Rings of Power' Season 2 Ratings Are IN THE GUTTER!!!" - Just as we all knew they'd be a year ago.
Amazon's wishful thinking here reminds me of when my father bought a cheap and nasty unbranded LCD backlit TV for the first time - refused to spend money and bought a shit (Polaroid) I think. Picture was terrible, frame rate of about 40, lagging, no gradation of shades - it was bloody awful. When I told his so he said "it's the best picture I've ever had on a TV..." This is Amazon - know they Fucked up again, refuse to admit it, again.
FWIW, I slogged my way through the entire first season, yet I only made it less than halfway through the first episode of season two before deciding I liked myself too much to do that to myself again. I'm currently rewatching The Expanse.
They put the mid in middle earth
Xray is so bloody innocent it's untrue, she's my favourite normie 😂
Chris is 100% right with the Thrones comparison. The show really blew up after the Red Wedding (season 3, episode 9) because book readers who knew it was coming filming their normie friends reactions went viral (sorry about that 😜). After that the numbers built every season with the first & last 2 episodes of each season getting the most eyeballs every year until season 8. I didn't watch it but read there was a bit of a drop off after season 8 episode 3, understandably so after they blew 8 years of buildup
I rather take a mallet to my stones
Oh my god Gary, bro you are the best out there for this culture shit. I love you and I loved this one, no gay shit but you had me cracking up so loudly. This was really a good one. Great Ending.
The rings of power has eldorado vibes the BBC spent millions and kept saying we love the show it won't end after 2 years it was cancelled
Holy crap. Eldorado. I’d forgotten that show ever existed. And I was happier.
@@GaudiaCertaminisGaming I saw a documentary about it on TH-cam call trouble at the top the Eldorado story, I never watched the show. but I remembered the bbc billing it as bigger than Eastenders. It’s now known as the most expensive soap opera flop in history. I think the same will be said for Rings of Power in regards to tv drama.
If GOT was pulling in 4-8 million viewers, I very much doubt LOR is pulling in 40 million. When it was shows on tv they had a standardised way of recording views, the streamers seem to have thrown that out the window and want to uprate everything. I can't imagine what the benefit of that would be apart from trying to trick people into thinking they are missing out in some way?
Christopher Nolan is the real deal and it is the fans/paying customers that are the lifeblood of an entertainment medium and Hollywood has forgotten that and in their hubris they have lost a lot.
Love that G is rewatching X-Files. I have been rewatching as well and Boy Howdy does that show hold up to this day!! Go watch or rewatch it. You will totally thank yourself. Chef kiss!

Except for the last seasons. Even after Mulder left and Scully became the "believer", it was good. But when they came back with Mulder after many years it was trash.
@@railander Agreed. It's still better than most of the shit today but the volume of episodes in a single season is bananas, even if they kind of jumped the shark at the end there. Changing out main characters on a long running show is pretty much the kiss of death for any show, except for Cheers, lol.

Nope. Morgoth/Melkor was called the God of Monsters for a reason. Aka The Dark Lord! The First Dark Lord!
@@ParkerCS2 Not familiar, if he was the first. Who created him? Who did he create?
@@YouilAushana he was created by the god of gods in Tolkien’s universe Eru Illuvatar, and he is was basically like Lucifer aka the devil from The Bible and jealous that his creator/father wouldn’t share of secrets of creation to him since he was his first born so decided to spite him by trying to cause chaos and destruction to Arda (middle-earth’s planet) and despite knowing nothing how to create he made himself his own minions being monsters such as Dragons, Balrogs, Orcs, Trolls, and Sauron who would later become the second dark lord was his right hand man and best lieutenant. Morgoth had to be defeated by the other lesser gods because he was overall too powerful for the people of Middle earth to deal with, and his death resulted in his banishment for eternity to the void, the very place he initially wanted to help give life to and became obsessed over resulting in his madness and obsession to the point of his rebelling against his creator Illuvatar and now would forever be stuck in the lifeless realm he had good intentions on at one point before going down the dark path he did.
