The interactions between the two of you were so wholesome😂. I’m so glad this video was recommended to me, I’m definitely subscribing and keeping up with your content now
Omg she’s so cool. So awesome of her to dedicate herself to bridging the gap between cultures. I’ll be blessed if I meet someone like her whenever I get around to visiting!
The chemistry between you two was great dude, would love to see more of you two bumbling around Japan cluelessly. 🤙 STILL WAITING FOR YOU TO HIT EVERYONES RECOMMENDATION TABS. 🙏🙏🙏
just found your channel. dope video! I just got back to the states after living in japan for 5 weeks and i fell in love with the culture. it was definitely difficult to make friendships with Japanese people, but i can say when i tried to engage with them that they were more than welcoming! gl with your journey!
@@AthanWright We say [something]-ish all the time in America though. It's a type of slang, like when something is _kinda_ like another thing but not really. So movie-ish was right
Your Japanese is actually pretty damn good for only one year of progress, because you're doing really well at the pitch accent and that goes a very long way.
I just found your channel from this video. Man, this video made me laugh out loud because it reminded me of myJapanese girlfriend and I before we started dating. I see some nice chemistry between you and Mei especially since it was the first time meeting so I subscribed because this content was great! Keep it up brother 👍 This will be a viral video IMO
broooo. almost half hour vid. finally lol. another great vid bro. Mei seems really chill. hopefully I can meet someone like that when I get there. seeing how good u are at japanese tells me I Def gotta study more lol. be safe bro
I just finished watching all of your Japan videos, because I got so into it after watching this video yesterday evening. I like them a lot and I hope you will keep updating us on your life in Japan. I'm in my last year of highschool in Poland and am planning to take one gap year and then go to Japan to study in 2025. My first plan was to go to a language school because I want to become a novel/manga/anime translator, but after seeing the video of your first time at the ICU university I got so excited it was hard for me to fall asleep yesterday. I had some time today to check out their website and it looks like it would be the best fit for me. Love from Poland!
aww hope your journey goes well, i feel that excitement too everytime I see something about the city I wanna study abroad in. I'm also studying abroad in 2025! good luck to us :)))
love the content man. fingers crossed ill be starting undergrad in tokyo from april so watching this gives me hope to make japanese friends or even foreigners such as you
Hi Athan just wanted to thank you for uploading again as well as thank you for producing a longer video, as always it was an amazing video and i can confidently say it felt more immersive because of the length of the video aswell as just having another person with you. Over all cant wait for your next upload! keep it up! :D
Mei was super great and I think her passion to connect foreigners and Japanese is wonderful. I'm going to Japan for the first time in October and am quite nervous. Like many, I've dreamed of it my whole life. I'm trying to learn as much Japanese as I can ahead of time. It'd be great to meet you and Mei, or just cross paths!
First video that I have watched of you and I really like it keep up the great work. I am also going to Japan in June for a year seeing this video gets me even more hyped going there haha. :)
TH-cam randomly recommended this to me but this was really enjoyable to watch just feels really authentic lol made me wish i knew conversational japanese when i first went to Japan
actaully your japanese and her english is at the right level so she can learn better english and you can learn better japanese..this is the best way to better ur language!
Hey ! Found your channel today! how did you decide/learn about where to study abroad in Tokyo? My dream is to study in Japan just like you. Seeing how you were learning Japanese starting from the basics in school is so cool and I wanna do it so bad but I don’t know how. Any advice would be eternally appreciated thanks bro.
my school had only 2 options in japan for me to choose from since I didn't speak Japanese, and only one school in Tokyo. My advice would be to do research into the colleges in Japan that you would like to go to and learn about the process to study abroad/ be full time student. all the universites are dying to have more international students so the admissions process is actually easier than you might think
damn Mei is so pretty! she talks in an interesting way, she doesn’t look boring at all!!! super fun vid thanks!! would love seeing you two together again 😄😄
I love watching your videos as they are what inspired me to want to study in Japan. I'm only 15, but I hope my fluent ability of the language can be quite good enough to where I can have a natural conversation.
Japanese people are very serious. In my country almost no one is like that, so people like me who are more introverted stand out, but in Japan I would probably blend in much easier (if I didn't look like a foreigner and spoke perfect japanese lol)
Haha I must have just missed you guys I was at tokyo station that day too 😄 I just got here fir my study aborad and I also hope to make videos, it would be awesome if we could meet up and talk about videos or something!
Movie-ish to say kinda. She is right, people sometimes say that... it was so common in florida. Also you too loked like having so much fun... good for you guys!!! Keep up the hard work
ive been trying to connect more with japanese students that come to my city to study. im lucky to have a university that attracts a lot of high achievers here lol so i can relate with / agree with mei on the connecting with international students bit. i like talking to people from all sorts of cultures, and ive recently met many. it's really fun and refreshing, considering so far, ive only interacted with people who have the exact same background as me (raised in same city, etc)
Incoming freshman at Duke this fall,,and man, got to say I've enjoyed binging on your channel for the last few weeks as I was doing my research into life at the school😂! Fav campus creator and sure hope I could meet you on school one day once I matriculate!🙌🏽💙
It's interesting that Osaka has tons of Koreans, considering the history between Japan and Korea. That was interesting to hear from her. She could pass for Korean until she speaks.
Does anyone know how I can become friends with someone who is Japanese and lives there, because I want to go this year or next year in winter to Japan. I would really like to meet someone who I can spent time with and get to know Japan more like culture, language, food etc.
Chopsticks pro tip. Move your hands closer to the end. I think your hands are to low which makes it harder to control. Also, your middle finger should be the only finger in between the top and bottom chopsticks. がんばってください🎉
Personnaly i actually do karate and i think osu is like some type of greeting like to our sensei you know so yeah we do it in the beginning of every like session and kata and combat which is kumite so yeah just fir a fun fact.

This was both cute and cringe. Cringe only because it was like watching your younger brother go on a date and you’re rooting for him but all his jokes don’t land. You did well! She was very chill and hope we can see her again. 😊
She seems very sweet. What are the odds that someone meets another person on Instagram, especially from another country? Interesting. Mexican nor Hispanic is a race, by the way (they do have afro-Mexicans in Mexico and so on). The funny part is that she thought you were part Japanese (it must be your eye structure). They have a Book Off here in NYC.
She’s an amazing young lady and appears to be a great deal of fun to be with. She’s a huge asset to Japan.
mei's goated
I like how she’s trying to speak English despite things kinda language barrier or mistakes! Fighting!

that's a lovely thing to say
Your Japanese is actually pretty damn good for only one year of progress, because you're doing really well at the pitch accent and that goes a very long way.
yeah lowkey what helped me with the pitch was watching anime for the last 2 years prior. so anime does have its purposes 😤
