Still not sure what my path even is, but I guess living more for myself than others is a good place to start. ❤
I genuinely don’t know why your channel doesn’t have more subs. I will say it was really hard for me to find your channel again!! I tried “American student in Japan” “first time in Japan” “living in Japan” and nothing came up for you? I then searched my subs as I’d forgotten your name and couldn’t find you either. I finally remembered I sent your video to my younger brother who also loves Japan and thankfully I found you again!! 😅 now I have alot to catch up on, but bro your Japanese has improved so much!!! I’m still in the “stupid cheesy anime phrases” part and I doubt I’ll ever learn more unless I plan a trip to Japan in the future. But I get to see a lot through you! :)
I feel that, I produce music and whenever that happens I just keep on doing stuff, you will get back eventually
I really really needed to hear "you don't need to have it all figured out" THANK YOU SO MUCH ATHAN ONCE AGAIN!!
Super helpful!
Do you think that you'll go back and stay for a little while longer?
It's interesting that Osaka has tons of Koreans, considering the history between Japan and Korea. That was interesting to hear from her. She could pass for Korean until she speaks.
This was a wholesome video.
Great video Athan
Athan I love seeing you on camera! Please make more videos like this!
thank you, this vedio made my day. keep going 🎀
Aww thanks!
i hope can study abroad In Japan next year
yoo athen i asked this last vid but i’m not sure if you saw it. where in japan were you staying? i have been very inspired by your videos and i’m curious. thanks!

Sup bro! Keep it up, remember, we’re all gonna be great someday!
@AthanWright thanks bro. I really appreciate that
I just found your Japan series and its been exactly the kind of content I've been looking for lately. It feels a lot of TH-camrs in Japan are kind of generic. It was refreshing to see your honest up and down experience. I'm curious what channel plans you have for the future be it travel or whatever else
Heck yeahhh
Just came back from Japan, you’re right bro. It teaches you a lot about yourself and how life is on the other side of the world
Yessirrr
welcome back man, been waiting for a new vid for a while now.
Thanks dawg
missed u man
Good to be back
bro's grown so much since i last seen his videos... omedotou & awesome to see you're doing well, Athan bro.. PEACE! =)
Thanks bro!
I haven't watched an Athan Wright video in a while, but whenever I do, it's always SUPER inspiring. This was exactly the video I needed at the point in my life, and I'm glad you could share your experiences! Hoping to study abroad one day too and take that leap! :)
Ayy preciate you Max!
I hope to study abroad in the future, and your channel has always been so inspiring and motivating to me. Thank you for the advice, I love your videos sm!!
Ayy preciate you!
My sister and I really want to go to Japan and live there, but we don't even have jobs to fund the trip and we would need a family to look after us. We are both very scared of just leaving without a plan, but this video has inspired me to try to let go of a plan, but keep it as back up, just in case.
Happy I could help!!
Im working towards getting the MEXT scholarship right now. I hope to go for maybe a school year.
Bro its so much cheaper, i wanna live there
welcome to heaven.
I'm barely seeing the finale but i joined the channel around 2k subs i believe and i remember always looking forward to the next Japan arc video. I'm glad to see you haven't stopped posting after leaving Japan because you honestly are pretty entertaining to watch so i just want to congratulate you on surviving a year in Japan on your own and on all the subs you've gained in the time period! Road to 100k!!
She's cute; she likes you. 😂
This journey was absolutely amazing! Keep up the good work and one day you'll get massive with this quality of videos and soul you put into them

Aww, I kinda cheated and skipped ahead. Bummer that your time in Japan ended, but I have a suspicious feeling you'll be back. Beautiful vids, keep it up!
I just stumbled upon your channel. I just came back from Japan and your videos are making me tear up missing everything about Japan. I want to go back and leave America behind. I hope you are still enjoying Japan to this day and I wish great fortune for you and your YT channel! Keep it going!
I reallyyyyy want to get int Duke
Hi Athan. I just saw your video. You give off a really nice vibe. I hope things are going well in Japan. I'm moving to Japan next year for two years to learn Japanese. I've been there already but I've excited nevertheless. You video made me even more thrilled. Have a good one!
Am I the only one that thinks the guy at 5:56 looks like Tatsuya Kitani?
Other rules in Japan for foreigners: -Don't expect to become close friends with the people like you are accustomed to at home. It won't happen. -Don't believe everyone likes you because they are polite of helpful. Some do, most don't. -Don't think everyone is being truthful with you. It is customary to not upset or insult people with the truth. They will talk behind your back (hone tate mae) but not to your face. If they do it's because they are REALLY pissed-off. -Don't think because no-one complains about your behavior that they are alright with it. -Don't believe compliments such as about your ability to speak Japanese or use chopsticks. For them it's kind of like applauding at the Special Olympics. -For new visitors don't get too close to anyone if possible. It's not uncommon to hear that foreigners stink like butter-soaked wet unwashed dogs. If you move there, the stink wears off after a few months. -Don't think local Ofuro or Onsens don't care that you are there. They do. Many if not most people would rather you weren't and will in fact leave the pool once you get in. -Don't think that your jokes are funny to them. If they laugh more often than not they are simply in shock as to how unsophisticated or bizarre your thinking is. Besides it would be impolite to not show some appreciation for your efforts in spite of how unrecognizable as humor your comments may be. -The highest aspiration of most Japanese people is to achieve perfection in how they act and what they do. You will never reach that level and will always be tolerated because you are a Gaijin and will never be and if fact can not be perfect. There may be aspects about your personality they like, but mostly they are envious that you have no inhibitions. -Just because you get invited to go out or to events it doesn't necessarily mean they like you or want to be a friend. It is a fairly common status symbol to "have a Gaijin" to parade around to their friends. -Don't expect to have any "rights" if you are working at a Japanese company. You don't. -Don't expect to be able to rent any apartments or enter any establishments. There are many who won't deal with foreigners at all regardless of how long you've been there. Japan is for the Japanese, not for you. You are mostly begrudgingly tolerated, not appreciated. etc etc etc
Is there a way we can help Mei-san's dream come true?
This is wholesome as heck
Such a positive perspective! Really happy for you!
Man... you are my inspiration now. Yesterday i was searching for a yt video about studying abroad in Japan, then i stumbled upon you. Which im really glad i did.
