Speaking as a musician, I wouldn't consider Marty's version of Johnny B. Goode to be shitty. Aside from the very end where he gets carried away and the band loses him, he's killin' it. The joke isn;t supposed to be that he's playing it shitty. The joke is that he's throwing in all this post-Hendrix influence which sounds like noise to the highschoolers of his parents' generation.

Have you ever watched "Elders React to Dubstep?" It's pretty funny. A couple of them actually like it. But then again, they've had decades of cultural musical change to soften the blow.
I'm oldish. 38 to be precise and a few years back I got way into dubstep and spent a couple hundred hours trying to learn how to make it.
When I started hearing tracks by teenagers that blew mine away, I figured it would be best for me to refocus my efforts on what I'm already good at. It was fun though. I have a few tracks that weren't total shit.

Yes. Dan Harmon has many more notches in his belt for writing comedic shows. And his humor is more methodical, as opposed to Justin's body/gag/gross out humor.

Yes, I have to admit I'm not a fan of witless bawdy, or random humor. I'm also heavily swayed by how irritating the gagging tick they chose for Rick was (not the gags--bits he does but the literal gagging on vomit constantly, he's an alcoholic, we get it.) The episodes fully dedicated to random (not surprising, not clever, not unexpected, just random) humor like the inter-dimensional tv sequences feel like a waste of time and potential. I've seen a lot of Harmon's standup and his other shows but I suppose I am judging Roiland mostly by the irritating side-characters that he voices and what little I've seen him make previously. Maybe I'll give Solar Opposites a chance.
Or the time machine is paradox-correcting and it's the same Marty with no memories of the new timeline because that would cause a paradox.
After Hours is one of the only reasons I'm subscribed. Please do these more often, they are greatly appreciated.

Here's something I just noticed in Back To The Future 2: When Marty and Doc go to 2015,old Biff uses the Delorean to travel back to 1955 to give the almanac to his younger self to create and alternative 1985.When old Biff returns to 2015,it's still the same 2015. If the younger Biff now created an alternative timeline with the almanac,why didn't it alter 2015?

Alternatively, every iteration of Marty is fed up with his life, rich Marty went through his own adventure similar to original Marty, and the Martys of every universe effectively played musical chairs, with varying results, and the original Marty just happens to have had the best change.

Aside from the hysterical debates you guys get into and the insightful conversation about movies, to me you guys offer up such knowledge not just about our lives but about the median of movies and pop culture all in one sitting. You guys are so incredible that i wish you did this series more often. I learned more about the human condition from listening in on your discussions than i did during my AP psychology class and my college philosophy class (both of which i passed more than easily but is neither here nor there), but all i am saying is thank you guys so much and i hope to see more of this unique kind of content and keep being awesome.

I have an easier explanation for the "same Marty" bullshit. Two, in fact. Explanation one: Marty is disjointed from the flow of time because of his time travel, meaning that his parents didn't need to happen to conceive the exact same Marty- there's one timeline that changes if the past is altered, like in Doctor Who. Marty wasn't changed because that would cause a paradox, and because he was dislodged from the flow of time. So, same Marty, different timeline where he still exists due to self-fulfilling prophecy.
Theory two: Quantum entanglement. It's when the existence of two things are so closely interlinked that they absolutely *HAVE* to exist together. For instance, let's say we have two dimensions. In Dimension A, we have Doc Brown and Marty. In Dimension B, neither of them exist. For whatever reason, Doc Brown gets pulled into Dimension B, and because his existence in the fabrics of time and space is so dependent on Marty, Marty gets pulled through with him. It's like the files of a game. If you get rid of one file, the whole thing won't work properly. In other words, Doc Brown literally could not exist without *that specific Marty,* so his existence is sustained on a universal level by necessity.

This means that there isn't just one reality that changes, otherwise Doc Brown and Marty would have just changed along with the 2015 future without ever knowing since they would then be affected by the changes of time.

My personal theory: Marty is actually Doc Brown's son who was planned to be raised by the McFly's. Marty's existence that was in peril in BTTF1 was that version of him shifting into a different existence entirely since his adopted parents would have never met. It would explain why Marty is the same in all versions and why Doc Brown has such a keen interest in Marty's life.
in 2023, you hear a phrase like "i'd kill an army of marty's" and then you look over at Rick and Morty, and you start to realize how deep the rabbit hole goes. We knew rick and morty where based on doc brown and Marty, but i wonder if the currated timeline theory they discuss here influenced the rick and morty showrunners as well.

Daniel forgot about the ending of Back To The Future III. In that scene, Marty was going over everything that happened to him and Doc Brown with Jennifer. Doc then appears in a time traveling locomotive 🚂. Jennifer then shows Doc the note that she brought with her from the future that vanished and Doc was like, "Of course it vanished! It means your future isn't written yet!" So, what they experienced in that version of 2015 is just 1 out of an infinite number of possibilities that could occur.

I remember reading an RPG game book that used multiverse travel as a plotting element, and one of the traits you could give your character is "Temporally Likely", meaning that more often than not, a different universe/timeline will still have a version of your character.
Marty is just a temporally likely event.

wait, I was always under the impression that when the timeline shifts in back to the future the characters all simply change to become the new products of their past, and that because Marty was "outside of time" when the shift happened, he was able to observe the differences while no-one else could. like how the concept of 5th dimensional travel would work. and if that's the case then he wouldn't be "replacing" another marty nessisarily, he could just represent the consciousness of the marty from the original timeline but in the body of the one from the new timeline

a bigger plot hole is WHEN Marty returns to Doc Brown at the END od part 2, BECAUSE Doc FAINTS, making it for HIM IMPOSSIBLE to piece back together the LETTER Marty wrote in PART 1, to protect him from the Lybians ... THUSLLY causing a PARADOX, melting the universe and making it DISAPPEAR!!! xD hahahaha
WHY? Well, when Doc faints, he is brought back home by Marty, than he wakes up in the morning, finding Marty BACK in the past, STARTING a new timeline for the OG 1985, deleting the fact of the life rescuing LETTER, which was in the trash and was probably taking away by the trash man the next day, EASRAING the possibility for Doc Brown to know about the Lybians, and THUSLLY dying at the end of part 1, preventing part 2 and 3 from EVER happening! :D

Like your vids but No though. There is only one single timeline in the BTTF Universe with a single Marty. Whenever a new one is created, the other one gets deleted. Meaning the universe that Marty is in at the end of the film, is actually a different one. The world that he's from is gone but since he is the catalyst of this change, only he remains untouched by the change hence remembering the other timeline but he has no knowledge of the one he's in now. It's the point when Marty travels to the past that is pivotal. Every Marty exists up until that point and converges into one single universe but If Marty were to die in the past or the future, Marty would cease to exist in every timeline from the point in which he first traveled through time.

I have been watching these for a while. Love em. If you could pump these out weekly. I would follow more religiously. I tend to go back and search for them every 6 months. Also if I can suggest maybe a crossover with the =3 folk. Kind of the marvel vs DC comics in comedy. I think people would go sick if someone like Robby Motts would appear as an intrusive waiter / stalker / other. I love the dynamic between you guys. I laugh at least once a show. Again though. Would love more of it.
Alley Oop has its origin as a comic strip in 1932. It was also a song from 1954. And a skateboarding trick since 1978. I'm constantly amazed by how confident Katie is stating things that she actually does not know.
I think Swaim's character is just a *little* too clueless in this episode, but still, there's never a bad After Hours! Keep 'em coming! It is, by far, the best series on Cracked!

One, when watchen back to back Doc's ear bud changes from what a Bluetooth actually looks like now at the end of one to what a headset looked like in the 90s. Second, why are Marty's brother and sister still living at home?? And what time do they all go to work??
