I remembered one of the Nornir chest that had to be solved by the sigil arrows. I solved the puzzle pretty easily first time, get the item, and put my ps5 to rest mode right after because it was very late.
The next day my game was restarted because of the update, and the game didn't save my progress and it put me right where I didn't get that Nornir chest. I was like "cool, just have to do puzzle again, not that hard."
Turns out, I spent about 15-20 minutes on the exact same puzzle that I solved less than a day ago because I couldn't get the sigil arrows on the exact spots I had on previous night, on top of the rune expired before I can get all 9 arrows out to make 3 big circles, which was how I got this exact puzzle done first time. So yeah, the rune arrows puzzles can be inconsistent and annoying.

I'm sure everyone has had those feelings before, especially creators, and I've felt it for sure in my life. Going through a long bout of that right now. But it was inspiring, makes me want to get back into content creation and video editing and all the stuff I love doing but always thought I was never good enough at to continue. The story was all over the place but they pieced all together the thing I didn’t like about ragnarok was that they took off the hand to hand combat skill, and even just the feel of the audio of the sfx felt more powerful in 2018. Ragnarok felt different and I have grown accustomed to it and find it a worthy successor of 2018. This might be controversial but I still think cory could have potentially made the game even better if he had his hands on this one just because there were a lot of concepts developed in the 2018 game that were just forgotten in ragnarok like SPOILERS………………………….. Don't sell yourself short, this video does something that very few videos are able to do in this day and age, it's tempered.
In the digital age of media consumption, the most common video creators follow one to two molds: Create a mountain of content, a new video every day or more, or they exaggerate things to the extent of becoming meaningless.
This video has a title that could have gone to say either, "No game is perfect but this is as close as any could possibly be" or "no game is perfect and God of War isn't even close". Instead, we get a personal introspective review of the game, with no spoilers, that states the game is near perfect "if you enjoy linear story focused games".
It's very refreshing to see someone make content that feels like something real. There are those who achieve it, but it's difficult to find. I think you can count yourself as one of them.

For anyone who doesn't understand why he made this video, I believe the story of ragnarok was so good that it also impacted him personally with real life because of the life lessons not only atreus but kratos went through with all the other characters in the game playing a big role on both their journeys.
Like he explained in his video that not everything in life is going to be perfect just like any game is not perfect but life is what u make it just like ragnarok how kratos learned to trust his son more and atreus learning that some of you're actions can have severe consequences but again it's a part of growing up.
I totally loved the way he explained this video and I too loved the story from ragnarok. I can honestly say that this was the best story from the 2018 God of war and ragnarok told beautifully of atreus and kratos combined together that I've ever played in a video game. Thanks for this video. U broke it down perfectly. 💯🤙👍

I can relate with the "nothing is ever perfect" cause I am a recognized artist locally where I live and put the pressure on with every new project I pen onto paper. My art is very abstract and hyper unique/detailed... I always try for my own perfection, but some of my best comments received from my fans were from pieces that were personally considered very flawed and "wtf. I could have done this better?! Why you like it so much?!". We are always our own harshest critic. Just keep on producing what you love and never underestimate the power of keeping your mental health working according to what YOU want within yourself... Other people don't matter in this scenario.

Like everyone surviving except two minor characters (despite Brok being more important than Freyr) made it feel almost like a Disney movie with f bombs lol. I'm not saying it should've been super dark and depressing like 3's ending (it definitely needed a light at the end of the tunnel type ending) but there should have been way more casualties than there were because 90 percent of the characters surviving was kinda goofy. I honestly felt Kratos should have been killed off but in the right way, like in a badass earned way. They definitely pulled pretty much every punch especially at the end

I think the main reason I was expecting him to die was because in every main gow game he does die. Albeit he only claws his way back from the dead in the original and 2 I was still expecting some sort of scenario similar to that in the original where Ares impales him with the broken column in pandora's temple and there's a whole Hades section which was super fun (I've still never seen anything like the part where you have to climb up the rotating columns with blades on them, that shit was sick). Like imagine if this had been a trilogy instead and part of the plot is Thor kills him at the beginning like he does in this game but doesn't revive him and everyone thinks Kratos is dead but is actively fighting his way out of Valhalla or Helheim. God of War Ragnarok is a wonderful experience. The world is beautiful. The gameplay options make the game as challenging as you want. Gear customization is varied and suits different kinds of gamer. The characters are deep and interesting and they are given interesting and emotional arcs. The main story, though you know where it will end up, is heartwarming.
I think the game tied up all the major loose ends from the previous game. Kratos had a whole different character arc from the previous story (instead of learning to open up to his son, he learns to trust his son and accept that Atreus is growing up) And Atreus got much more development here and matures significantly.

*Spoilers* Eh. This story was all over the place and left a lot unresolved. The issue with Tyr ....sucked. Atreus continuing to be...a moron. The Norns talking about prophecy like a movie production: "lines" "script" "storycraft" "third act" "curtains fall" etc. That was a little too meta and off-putting. Heimdall looking and talking like an irate whole foods clerk the whole game. Odin talking like some average old grandpa in a Chevy Chase vacation movie. Freyr talks like a California stoner the whole time(he actually says, "I'm gonna hurl." in one scene.) ALL THE BACKSEATING during every single puzzle in the game(and you couldn't turn it off. I tried.). Kratos not being intelligent enough to understand that war may be a possibility. Everyone else, especially Freya, not being smart enough to ignore prophecy. Sindri's break with Atreus and Kratos. And for the first time, not being able to play Kratos, the God of War, in a GoW game. Playing as his annoying kid and picking fruit with another annoying kid, Angraboda. These parts dragged the pace of the game down. All the artificial lengthing of the game with all the hidden loading screens i.e. walking through tunnels, cracks, caves, extra long row boat sections. Unskippable cutscenes. "Mystery box" storytelling: In this case, they used a mask. All the build up and nothing. The mask was just a writer's crutch to get Odin and Aterus together. No payoff whatsoever. And Thor having very little relevance in the story outside of a drunk bouncer character for Odin. Actual battle in Asgard was less than 20 minutes out of a 25 hour game buildup.
There were a lot of more noticeable flaws this time around. This wasn't a game until you were able to control Kratos and explore a little bit. This game made the mistake of lots of Sony products lately: It wants to be an interactive movie more than it wants to be a GAME. For the casuals, this is great. For gamers, it's frustrating. There are very long stretches of this game where you are forced to put the controller down for 5 to 10 minutes and watch a cutscene.
I liked the gameplay as always. I liked the extra variety of enemies and quests over the last game. The graphics and environments are top notch. But this one is definitely overrated and many times has taken it's audience for granted by thinking people will be okay with playing Atreus for over a third of the game.
Yeah it's not perfect. But all the flaws made it below average in comparison to previous games. Definitely an underperforming GoW game. I hated Ascension but that game is better than this one, in my opinion. Mechanically and Narratively.
WE all love a little story to connect one end of the game to the other end but they definitely oversteered a bit on this one. The game was afraid of silence. Sometimes you had not one but two companions just nattering on and on and on in the background. All while moving through enemy territory. Kratos, more than once, has to tell everyone to just shut the f*** up. None of his companions learn. None.
Honestly, I'm not oblivious to how much people love this game and I can agree on most points that are made. It may just be me after having played over 30+ years of games, my standards have been a little too high.
I'm just tired of all the shilling. Just tired of it.

I have to strongly disagree with your take on Ragnarök's difficulty settings. Ragnarök has the worst implementation of various difficulty settings as it does not make the game harder but simply more tedious by giving enemies only more health and damage output. Every small enemy can two-shot Kratos but has enormous amounts of health. This also works against the game on a narrative level, never making you feel like the God of War if everything can kill you so quickly but you struggle to take out even the simplest enemy.

    • @johnnyjets2343
      @johnnyjets2343 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes. I agree, although I find this a bit unfortunate. Especially in Ragnarök‘s case the highest difficulty seems very unbalanced and unfairly punishing. If GOWR is such a compelling, touching, wonderful game, why is your video's thesis, title, and content centered around the negatives of the game? I think overwhelming positives or overwhelming negatives deserve the spotlight in a video as its main thrust, and the negatives should be sprinkled throughout or mentioned in passing as something that hindered your experience, but not enough to completely undo the masterwork you just witnessed. My biggest gripes with it are the rushed story, the checklist map design and the combat
The story started really slow and by the time it got better It ended
Too many events were tucked away or resolved too quickly and the decision to make it 2 parts really hurt the story in that aspect
I wish it was longer like way longer than 15-20 hrs format of The pervious game
But again such risky decision can either hit or miss
And it missed like really missed
A lot could have been achieved and told but it didn’t get a chance
As for the combat, the game got faster, varied and easier with three weapons, powerful ally in freya and three spartan rage modes
It tried to shake things up adding some elements from the past hack and slash games but it ended up in such a mess it didn’t have the same feeling as the first game
2018’s game was meaty, slow, unforgiving and each mistake meant a brutal loss
This one was faster yet easier and more manageable than the first one
Many runices were removed and some were made into basic skills which is kinda cool but they didn’t chose the best ones imo
Lastly, the map design and the decision to make it a checklist in nature like spiderman games
I hate ac odyssey’s map design bc of the many question marks on the map but at least to me everything was there and ready to explore and to be found
Here it’s a list and it gets updated each time you get something new
And it goes on and on and on till the end
Like you have to go back and forth with each map multiple times so you can see everything
Im not a fan of this approach as it tries to be meteroidvania but in the end it’s just a list and you are ticking its boxes
    For me as a game
It was a huge let down
I didnt play many games from 2022
Requiem and ragnarok disappointed me in their own ways
My final score is a generous 8
    And i wanna say
    Thor deserved more
    Norse deserved better
    We players deserved a trilogy
Wait for a sale bc it’s already too expensive at of now

@@gloriousporpoise9731 everyone having the same opinion and repeating the same words without addressing the flaws or criticisms of the game and giving it a 10 are sheep yes. That's not because of a difference of opinion it's because it's not their own opinion.
