- My top 10 favorite cut flowers. After growing cut flowers for our local farmers market last year certain flowers really stood out. These flowers were dependable, easy to grow, and produced a lot of flowers. After trial and error and growing so many different flower varieties, these are my favorites!

im so glad i found you, same zone 7b! thank you for this video, looking forward to growing with you!
It’s so nice to find someone in the same growing zone! Happy growing! ☀️🌸☀️
So excited to find you! I've been searching for a TN gardener (we';re 7B, to, Cumberland City) so eating up your content right now!
Nice to hear from a fellow Tn gardener & welcome to Heirloom Leaves and Seeds! 😊
It’s fun to hear what other people are growing for cut flowers. I grow a lot of cold hardy flowers because I live in zone 8b. My favorites are Nigella, Bells of Ireland, Larkspur, Dara and Carrots. I let my previous year’s carrots flower because they are so strong and last a long time in the vase. For summer flowers I mostly grow Sunflowers, Dahlias and Gomphrena along with some grasses. Unfortunately, the florist I grow for doesn’t love Zinnias because the petals dry out really fast so I only grow a few for fun.
I like to hear what others are growing as well. I have added Bells of Ireland and Blue Grama & Feathertop grass to what I am growing this year. I am glad to see they are on your favorites list & I am looking forward to using them in bouquets this year. 🌸
Hi! can you please do a video on how to grow dara? I have not been successful yet for some reason, would love to see more videos of it
That would be a good video. 😊 Make sure to start indoors in mid-summer and have them in the ground 6 weeks before first fall frost or you can try direct sowing as well. 🌱
I love Jewel of Opar too!
Such an interesting and pretty plant! ☀️🌱😊
am very interested in the snapdragon - I ended up with a "freebie" from a bird I guess and it produced SOOO much AND survived our winter so I am looking for more
Nice! I have some that produced flowers last year & overwintered. It will be interesting to see how they do this year. Snapdragons are definitely the workhorses of the garden! ☀️
Do you direct sow most of these?
I like to direct sow whenever possible. I definitely direct sow the sunflowers and zinnias. I will start the chocolate lace flower and snapdragons indoors every time. The other varieties it just depends, if it’s early in the year I usually start indoors. 🌸
where do you source your seeds?
I like to source my seeds from several different seed companies some of my favorites are Rare Seeds, Select Seeds, Redemption Seeds, Fruition Seeds, and Botanical Interests. All have a nice selection of flowers, herbs, and vegetables. 😊
