After the first mouse falls in that bucket you will make one with a lid!

@@FlanaganHomestead there is something about mice and buckets of water.
      It is like a magnet.

So sand, silt, leaves, sticks all have microbes on them and bacteria grows. So this is filtered for big stuff but still not safe to drink.

Consider spray painting or buying a cover for the IBC tote otherwise it might grow Algae over time.

where did you get those larger filters/cartridges ?? what diameter is the hole in the middle / your pipe that you drilled holes into?

    • @FlanaganHomestead

I ordered the filters off Amazon. They are a regular pool filter. 1 inch diameter hole if my memory is correct

    Two things:
1: should have turned the bucket upside down and drilled the hole from the outside.
2: i rhink that filter is/was designed to be completely submerged, but your system only has the bottom quarter or third of it submerged. Maybe instead drill the hole in the bucket up high on the side and place the end cap on the bottom. At the top end of the filter, a 90° elbow that then runs the pipe out through the side. The bucket will fill up and submerge the filter.
Hope my 2¢ makes sense. (Or cents) 😂
