This is just what I am looking for. Great job. One suggestion. If you could identify the various connections and filters in Amazon, that would certainly take away the guess work. Giving your viewers more confidence when they go to make a purchase. I believe you can set up an account with Amazon and get a commission for every purchase by providing the link in your description area. Keep up the good work 👏
I agee with Derm on this. It would be nice to just at least have the parts list so if we don't know what we are taking about when we go to purchase we have something to fall back on.
Check out the cat liter buckets, they are right at 5 gallon size and have flat sides. The lid that comes with them works great also. Love your videos, keep up the great work.
Thank you. On the tops of those 3/4-in schedule 40 pipes where they poke out the top of the filter Do you put caps on top of those to keep stuff from getting inside the water supply from those open tops? I have very small critters like baby crayfish baby salamanders stuff like that that would definitely get in there
I'm wondering if putting caps on the top will cause a problem with a siphon/suction or other such air block preventing the water from going down to the cistern
Hi, great video. I just built one and the 20 micron filters i have aren’t passing any water. it’s barely a trickle. all the water is exiting the overflow. is that normal? really hoped it wouldn’t restrict flow that much. Thanks!
You must have a lot of sediment in the water May need to go to a 5 or 10 micron filter Then if you can place a spin down filter before the water enters the cistern
@@basecampwnc1745 there’s not much sediment and the filters aren’t clogged or anything (brand new from Lowe’s ). i wonder if these filters usually rely on inline pressure after a pump or something. i’ll look into a larger screen or the inline spin down. thanks again!
@@basecampwnc1745 it’s project source #5225358. (YT won’t let me post the link). I bet that’s my problem. The package/website doesn’t say what material but it has a springy/plastic feel. Thanks for making time on your sunday morning!
If you look back a month and a half I did a complete rain water catchment system From collecting the first flush the tank and filtering the water with sediment filters and a UV light
Would it be OK to position the overflow pipe above the mainstream pipe. Instead having the holes for the two pipes side by side, have the holes vertical, one above the other. The same as the holes positioned at the stream dam?
You can place the anywhere it’s the top of the overflow pipe You could place the overflow outlet just below the top of the filter then no need for the stand pipe Placing the overflow pipe at the bottom makes it easier to clean out the spring box You do not glue any of the pipes in the box So this lets you pull out the overflow so you can drain the box and sediment
Why isn’t the overflow pipe positioned at the highest point in the bucket vs lower than the incoming water supply pipe? What am I not understanding? Thanks
Thank you for your quick reply. I must have been looking at it wrong in the video. I really like your idea of using the hose barb to hook up directly to black water pipe. That’s how I’ll be doing it. Again thank you. Btw, I live in West Virginia but travel to wnc to fly fish several times a year. Beautiful area
@@basecampwnc1745 I was thinking that the white would reflect the sunlight. I should’ve paid more attention in science class 😆. I recently found out about 303 protectant spray that it inhibits up rays. I’ve been spraying anything rubber and plastic. That’s outside with it. Lol.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills. It's really helpful.
I hope you found something in it helpful

Wouah very interesting thanks for the video very informative.
I'm loving these videos.
This is A GREAT IDEA! Cost effective and extra filtration. THANK YOU
We built ours after watching your first version of making a spring box last year. Works great!

Very nice picture quality. Thank you.
Excellent job!!!
I really appreciate your videos!

Called an Amazon affiliate link cost your viewers no $ but you make a small commission.

@@mcsportoif you can’t figure what fittings you need for this. I would suggest to just buy the one already made from Carolina.
Thank you so much for these videos!!!!

Great video.
Nice filtering system 👏 I’ll be building one ☝️

Good idea

Ya but they’re not “food grade”😆
Awesome great idea!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸

You can cap off the tops
It also helps to hold the filter down
Unless the filters need to be changed the water is not that high
The bucket will be sealed with the lid. Shouldn’t be anything else in there
Love how he blanked off Clausen but u can still see it. Lol

I use the string or paper element
Have never used the solid fiber element
What kind of filter are you using?

So far how often do you find yourself replacing the filters even after you clean them several times?
As long as you spray them clean probably a year of use
Just don’t use full force water on them you will blow a hole in the element
@@basecampwnc1745 ah ok thanks for the response

In order to overflow the water flows into the top of the pipe

thanks for the info
Do bulkhead fittings seal on the round buckets?
Yes they will just tighten and flatten that surface
Same as on tanks
So what do you do about UV degradation of the bucket?
You can cover it up or bury it
And why is dark color better than white?
You don’t want sunshine to come thur and sunshine algae will grow and n the tank
Paint it cover with a tarp or old rug.

Hey, are you still out there? Emailed you a few times and hoping to hear back.
Guess not 😖
I put a gamma seal on my $10 and makes it a screw on lid
I emailed you a question. Do you answer emails? Or is there a better way to get in touch with you
Google didn’t like your address so it was in the spam folder
Send me your pictures and I try to see what we can do

I sent you an email 😊 my email begins with natureswayfarm,,, We have a few other questions How do you get a seaping spring to fill this bucket?
Have not received anything from you
