- This presentation by noted author and freethinker Ravichandran C was the concluding programme at the Swothanthralokam'16 held at Payyannur, Kannur on Dec 24, 25.
Ravichandran here conducts an interesting survey in to the legality and morality of crime and punishment and their related implications with regards to the variable like free will, determinism and rebirth etc. Ample grain for the thought mill.

'ഞാന് നബിയുടെ അടുത്ത് ചെന്നു. കൂടെ പത്താളുമുണ്ട്. അപ്പോള് അന്സാരികളില് പെട്ട ഒരാള് എഴുന്നേറ്റ് ചോദിച്ചു: ''പ്രവാചകരേ, ഏറ്റവും ബുദ്ധിമാനും ഏറ്റവും ദൃഢനിശ്ചയമുള്ളവനും ആരാണ്?'' തിരുമേനി അരുള് ചെയ്തു: ''മരണത്തെ ധാരാളം സ്മരിക്കുന്നവരും മരണത്തിന് ധാരാളം തയ്യാറെടുത്തിട്ടുള്ളവരുമാണ് ബുദ്ധിമാന്മാര്. അവര് ഇഹലോകത്തിലെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠതയും പരലോകത്തിലെ മഹത്വവും കൈവരിച്ചവരത്രെ.'' ഈ നബിവചനത്തില്നിന്നും നമുക്ക് മരണസ്മരണയുടെ പ്രാധാന്യത്തെപ്പറ്റി മനസ്സിലാക്കാവുന്നതാണ്. ഇബ്നു ഉമറി(റ)ല്നിന്ന് നിവേദനം. നബി(സ) പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു: ''നിങ്ങള് ആനന്ദങ്ങളുടെ അന്തകനെ, മരണത്തെ ധാരാളമായി സ്മരിക്കുവിന്.'' മരണസ്മരണയെ കുറിച്ച് ധാരാളം ഹദീസുകളുണ്ട്. ദാരിദ്ര്യവും രോഗവും മറ്റു കഷ്ടപ്പാടുകളും പ്രതിസന്ധികളും ബാധിക്കുമ്പോള് അതിന്റെ പേരില് മരണം കൊതിക്കുന്നത് നല്ലതല്ല. നബി(സ) പറഞ്ഞു: ''വിഷമം ബാധിച്ചതിന്റെ പേരില് മരണം ആഗ്രഹിക്കരുത്. മരണം കൊതിച്ചേ കഴിയൂ എന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില് അവര് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കട്ടെ. അല്ലാഹുവേ, ജീവിതം എനിക്ക് ഉത്തമമായിരിക്കുന്നിടത്തോളം കാലം എന്നെ ജീ വിപ്പിക്കണമേ. മരണമാണ് എനിക്ക് ഉത്തമെങ്കില് എന്നെ നീ മരിപ്പിക്കേണമേ.''
ഒരിക്കല് അബ്ബാസ് (റ) രോഗബാധിതനായി കിടക്കുമ്പോള് നബി(സ) അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സന്ദര്ശിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം മരിക്കാന് ആഗ്രഹം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. ''അബ്ബാസ്, പ്രവാചകന്റെ പിതൃവ്യാ, താങ്കള് മരണം കാംക്ഷിക്കരുത്. താങ്കള് സുകൃതനാണെങ്കില് താങ്കളുടെ സുകൃതം വര്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതാണല്ലോ ഗുണം. ഇനി പാപിയാണെങ്കില്, താങ്കള് ഇനിയും ജീവിക്കുന്ന പക്ഷം പാപമുക്തി നേടാനുള്ള അവസരം ലഭിക്കുന്നു. അതാണ് താങ്കള്ക്കുത്തമം. മരിക്കാന് കൊതിക്കരുത്. എന്നാല്, തന്റെ മതത്തില് വല്ല കുഴപ്പവും സംഭവിക്കുമെന്ന് സംശയിക്കുന്ന, അല്ലെങ്കില് ആശങ്കപ്പെടുന്ന ആള്ക്ക് മരണമാഗ്രഹിക്കാവുന്നതാണ്.''

If I come with an argument "Then why Islam believers are committing crimes" then your argument would be "That's because they are not real Muslims, a real Muslim will not do so", because after all that is the argument when it comes to ISIS right? So why don't you think this way "Those who committed crime the other day is not real Christians" because at the end of the day it is said in the bible too that committing crime is forbidden.
