Interesting trade off between time spent and charging stations and how that relates to your next stop. What I’ve tended to do is plan it out to eliminate a stop by over-charging at the first charging stop. Might be more time overall (haven’t done the math on this) but at least psychologically it feels more productive stopping less. Great video! Also, bucees is a 10/10 recommend. Have to get the brisket sandwich though. Always try to stop at one when I can
On our road trip to TN last year I did overcharge and I found it didn’t help much in reducing time. Also I think it truly depends on your own driving habits. If you enjoy stopping more free for shorter periods (and you’re a family with a toddler), this method works. But the beauty of it all is you can chose to do what you want how you want. And thanks!

We have a 3 and Y now but just put in a order for a X plaid (trading in the 3 and transferring fsd). The Y had been a good road tripping car but looking forward to the easy entry and getting our little one in with the falcon wing doors. Autopilot and Fsd is great on road-trips.
I have a 2022 Model X Plaid with 20" wheels (red/white like yours) and I prefer to have less stops and longer charging sessions. In 600 miles, I wouldn't stop more than twice. 93% charge should easily be enough for 200 miles, arriving at like 8 to 10%.. I once did 1100 miles with 5 stops. (Lakeland/FL to Victoria/TX)
I personally prefer the opposite which as a ICE driver previously I would have not preferred. But the breaks help to wake me up and stretch my legs. But that’s also the beauty in creating your own route to drive how you want
@@Macstechtoybox There are valid reasons for either charging strategy. I plan my charging around food stops. My road trips are often very long and I have done 1100 miles in a single day when I had a Model Y. 3 long stops when we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner and two 20 mins stops when we didn't have food. Only the 2 non food stops cost us time over a gas car while at the other stops, we needed 30 to 45 mins to finish our meals, so, charging to a higher level did not cost us time.

Thanks! I think the next trip we take we will use the Model 3 LR. It’s just with the baby the extra space in the X is invaluable.
