I love the Halo 1 grunts. The other ones are a bit too... anglified? And kind of humanized... and they lost the "Grunty" aspect of them. Now they're just smaller enemies with pitched voices and that's it. (Also it's weird to not see the CE grunts throw plasma more often)

I have been replaying the MCC and have been on such a kick that I realized I knew nothing about the species we fight and on a whim looked up Halo grunt adding everything I saw to watch later. I never ever expected this when I opened the video and I never expected to laugh so hard. It's so funny to pick out little fragments of the insults. I may have to watch this video 10 times to catch all the insults. These guys have always been my favorite in the series and I honestly feel bad beating them into the ground in. The first 12 seconds of the video were "wtf am I watching" and now I've watched half the videos on this channel and am enjoying them

I find it funny when Halo 3 Grunts talk after dying. It's practically players playing as Grunts and complaining. It's a bit hard to tell, unless you're paying attention. It doesn't happen in Halo 3 itself though. Just the random screams of death.

Halo 1 grunts appear to be generally more dangerous individually, but halo 3 grunts have the advantagd of pack tactica while halo 1 grunts tend to scattet and flee against multiple opponents.
I gotta say, both iterations are surprisingly formidable when they aren't panicking. EDIT: And then the fuel rod cannons came out... no contest. Halo 3 wins.

My takeaway from this is that, as the series went on, Grunts got a whole lot braver, but also generally more sparing with their actual shots.
