    This technique worked perfectly! My 10 year old daughter made a beautiful confetti spiral shirt with very little help from me!

    Helped my kids make a bunch, but how do you prevent the dye from getting into the white? After the big reveal we rinsed and the whites were no longer bright

    So in another video it was display that you use a little soap and I used the smallest amount and now my daughter and my shirt do not look as good. I thought I commented on another video of yours but perhaps I didn't. The dark blue that's running through a light blue part of her shirt is completely gone and both shirts look like they've been washed for a whole year 😭. I don't know if it's because I use soap. But eventually you'd have to😅. What dye did you use exactly?

    Looks great! Can anyone explain the reason for storing the shirt in a bag? Why not leave it in the open to ir-dry?

    • @AmandaKam
      @AmandaKam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! The reason I put it in a bag is just to avoid any mess if I have to move it around.. I have cats so I don’t want them messing with it etc. I used to sell tie dye so I have left shirts to dry out in the open in a closed off room and to my knowledge the dye "drying" into the shirt didn't make the colors any more or less vibrant. (just never leave them in the sun!!)

    Newbie question: every time I tie dye, my white ALWAYS gets dye on it. Am I not rinsing enough? Using too much dye initially??

  • @maddsturr13
    @maddsturr13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Stupid question when you wash it after 24 hours do you use detergent?

    Did you soak the shirt in soda ash off camera? The dye looks very vibrant! If not, did it fade or bleed after a few washes?🌈🌀

    • @AmandaKam
      @AmandaKam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly can't remember if I used soda ash on this one... but to be honest, with these dyes I never noticed much of a difference, they are SO vibrant! And won't fade for YEARS even with washing in hot water!

    Oh, hell. Now I know for sure the jacket I am about to rinse is going to look like crap. Because this is so much easier than what I did, and your shirts look like how I dreamed this jeans jacket would look.
    I made a bunch of crazy pony tails and did lowlights in black. I had bleached it first in those same areas. Oh, crap. This jacket is going to have to be burned.

      HAHAHA oh nooo! I am honestly so curious to see how it turns out.... but yes - try this next time!! :)

      @@AmandaKam it’s not bad. My daughter likes it. It was a dark denim with a yellow kind of wash on it. Bleaching only took out the blue denim, so I used that yellow as it’s own color, and put a yellow orange, a pink, a turquoise, and did gray and black low lights. But this jacket is going to have a lot of patches on it, and probably some painting. I am actually considering tying it back up the way it was and just brushing the top areas visible with a little white fabric paint. I generally just paint jackets the way they are, but my daughter liked this jacket, and it was pretty dark blue. This is my “Here comes the Sun” girl, and she loves rainbow and tie dye. It takes me months to paint a jacket, and my middle daughter is getting 2 in a row… I’m spoiling her because she just had her 5th child, and he is the light in my heart. So she is being rewarded at every turn. If I had a way to send you a pic before I start on it, I would do that. It is not nearly as bad as I expected.

    Hey is there any alternative of colours i can use rather than dyes? Like acrylic colour with water or natural made colours, will it still give the same result?
