    Growing up in the sixties, and passing the Fox ranch, in Malibu Canyon, every day on the bus to school, we saw many productions come and go, but none was more exciting than POTA. Having spent my entire adult life, working in the film industry, I truly appreciate the work that went into this documentary. Bravo!

    I love the superimposing with the 'host' amongst the cast. He even does the script direction to help us to see how it was. Probably the best film set revisited or film comparison video I've ever seen!
    Congratulations👍🏽. A real work of love for the film❗️👏🏽😎

    That was really awesome. I saw the original Planet of the Apes when I was 13 at the movie theater. It was like Star Wars for me. I saw it several times. And then I watched the next four in the series, going to each one repeatedly.

      I saw it on late night tv. This is what sci fi should do, give you a totally new perspective on the universe.
      I saw last Jedi yesterday. While it is a good movie, it is a rehash of stuff we've all seen before.

    Pretty amazing film, which has stood the test of 50 years time.

    a hot, steamy town
    a young boy in the first row of a neighborhood movie theater
    a bigger than life
    theater -
    the hushed tones
    the dark interior in the middle of a sunny day
    sitting there transfixed
    completely immersed in another world...
    and sent into my own imaginary
    orbit
    from the explosive! sound and visuals of the corn field scene straight through to closing credits.
    thanks for the memories

    My dad and his friend were boating at lake Powell in 68. They came across the spaceship and looked inside at the valves and pipes used to sink it. Then they saw people on the shore and went to inquire. The y encountered the film crew who told them about the movie. None of the actors were there at the time.

    • @cuda426hemi
      @cuda426hemi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The hatch that blew off is on the floor on Lake Powell still as far as I know. Then they re-used the ship on sequels and the TV show - after Escape From POA, the nose cone was a different color because when it "washed ashore" in Escape in Malibu it broke from the tow lines and smacked into those rocks forcing quick fix on the cone. As far as I know nobody knows what happened to that dart shaped steel prop - collector buy or rust at scrapyard.....🗼

    EXTREMELY WELL DONE......I love this sort of thing, as I've always been a fan of this movie ever since the day I first watched it just before I turned 15 in 1968.......I lived in Huntington Park, California at that time and saw the movie there on Pacific Boulevard either at the Warner Theater or at the California Theater......I have also always been a futurist and now realize at my age of almost 67 during this Coronavirus pandemic that THE BEST YEARS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HAVE NOW PASSED INTO THE DISTANT PAST.......I arrived in California via Spain in 1963 from having been a rich kid in Cuba, and I don't need an elephant three feet away to see it......Humanity's days are numbered, and movies such as Planet of the Apes have a very strong meaning for those of us who can think and reason........CONGRATULATIONS ON THIS JOB WELL DONE......César M. González Betancourt, ( Sierra Cuban on You Tube ) Miami, Florida, Estados Unidos de América.......PROUD UNITED STATES MARINES DAD......AND MOM TOO.

    You have an excellent technique of immersing your viewers in each location, across 50+ years of time and erosion. Scouting the locations was enough of a chore, but you went and did the extra heavy lifting to bring it all together like this. Thanks for all your hard work.

    What a great job on this, it’s fantastic, I see you posted this 9 years ago, so I may be a little late on the compliments. I remember going to see this film when I was 11 when it first came out, I went by myself because none of my friends would go. To me this is the one that matters, there’s many sequels, and it was done again years later, but this is for me the best one, way ahead of it’s time.

Had a semi sealed off crying room under the balcony for moms and infants. Can still smell the urine when I think about it. Ugh... Vividly remember everything about that movie, and the 2nd one too, Return to the planet of the apes. This video was spot on with scene fades in and out. We'll done you damn dirty ape! P.S. Vacationed at Grand Canyon and flew to Page AZ for day excursion. Came in over Lake Powell. Beautiful oasis in the desert .Took raft trip from Glen Canyon Dam along Colorado river through Horseshoe Bend. Boat/Raft captain pointed out film location(s).

      Wrong. You don't know at what stage the tide was during the filming 50 years ago and now.

    • @SteveSputnik
      @SteveSputnik 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The average sea rise over the past five decades wouldn't be measurable with the naked eye, especially, as Rui points out, when the tide might be at a different point to what it was when the movie was shot. Take into account such things as weather variations, tide cycles , time of the year etc. and the fact that both pieces of film are long-shots and it would be ridiculous to use the latter piece of film as evidence that sea levels aren't rising. A rise of 2" wouldn't be noticeable with the naked eye, but it would be significant if it marked a trend.

    Coming back to this genius comedic take on Planet the Apes film locations, it seems funnier than ever especially after watching some of the recent attempts from others posting their versions of this timeless classic from 20th century which was made in the 1960’s.

    This is a fantastic video of the making of one of the BEST SCI FI FILMS ever made....I went to Lake Powell first time in 1970, and every summer for the next 42 years, many times. My good friend Wally, on a fishing trip, witnessed the filming at Last Change Bay on Lake Powell and told us about it. I have every version on film/tape/disc since then. The BlueRay is just astounding, and the music was and is a huge part of the film.. I cannot describe the audience reaction in the theatre back in '68; it was shock, amazement. I saw it at least 5 times, including at a Drive In...THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO MR. ATTIA!! will pass it on to all my friends.
