  • I bring my Audi R8 to Bill from Garage Autosports to get a full intake cleaning! Carbon deposit build up is a problem with direct injected FSI engines and thus a walnut blasting intake service is needed to ensure proper power delivery, fuel economy and performance! This is a common maintenance item that has to be addressed for all direct injection engines

You'll also see higher buildup on the valves that are closest to the pcv, this is why catch cans do help with this issue.

Doesn't work to remove such stuck on carbon. Used as a preventative measure then perhaps if you run it though an intake vacuum hose. You can do things the right way or the BS way that's your choice.

The fk it won't help, ive been using it before you dks were even born. Toyota has a system that alternates injections to clean intake valves off.Run a catch can on pcv system,or don't buy Audi, Volkswagen.

@@carswithsonduren I'm in the process of getting one custom made from this guy. He makes them to order for Audis. I have a Q7 and it's impossible to find most aftermarket parts for, even though it's the same 3.0T as many other models. He custom mills the necessary hose adapters/fittings. His prices are better than the cheap plastic kits - and his is all aluminum. If by chance you're in Tampa, FL, he will even install it for free. He has 1 video - search for "2015 Audi Q7 Catch Can Installation" if you want to see it. It's not the best quality video but I can tell from trying to deal with rounding up all of the proprietary valve cover hose fittings for mine that he has a good understanding of Audis. If you don't want to keep dealing with this I would get in touch with him.

Catch cans definitely help with buildup, although much of the buildup is due to valve overlap, and a lack of port fuel to clean the resulting buildup. Maybe we will build a solution for the 4.2/5.2 😉
