I personally love the uber endgame. The most satisfaction I get from the game I think would be making a Smiter after you have a character that can farm keys. From there just farming Tristram for torches and hoping for those high rolls has always been something I enjoy.

Love the video, but I wouldn't call Hardcore, meme builds, or speed running an "endgame." Those are more "playstyles" as you can do those from the moment you start playing the game. What I would call an endgame for D2 are the Uber bosses.
When I think of end game, Anni and Torches come to mind. And really most of the best runewords are end game as well. Beat the game, magic find, look for runes, look for bases, etc. Usually you'll want to build different characters for many of those purposes as well.
1- Holy Grail : It's not endgame content. It's just being a collector. And it's not something realistically achievable if you are not a full time streamer playing 24/7. Definitely not endgame content. 2- PvP : Fair. It's endgame. 3- Exp to 99 : Fair. It's endgame. But so boring, nobody want to do that and every people who exp a char to 99 admit they will never do it again.. unless they are a full time streamer playing 24/7 only diablo 2 for money ( no offense ). 4- HC : Well, it's not endgame content. Just another mode to play the game. 5- Meme Builds : Same as 4. It's just you trying a meme build, nothing related to an endgame content. 6- Speed run : It's not endgame content. Yeah you can only speedrun when you know perfectly the game but the endgame of a game is something created by their devs for the players who are at the end of the game.. speedrun is just a '' mode '' created by players to challenge themselves. It's the same as HC, it's just another mode to play the game. I think most people who want new true endgame to D2R don't care about speedrunning the game. 7- Trading : How is it related to endgame content ? It's the economy of the game. Sure you trade better things at the end of the game but it's not endgame content.. just the economy of the game online. We can add Ubers/Dclone as endgame content. I don't want to be rude or mean. I just want to be realistic and fair, and only point 2 and 3 are true. All others point are not related to an endgame content at all.. So in fact there's only PvP/Exp to 99, looting the best gear for your char/Ubers/Dclone as endgame content. And honestly besides PvP for some people, the rest is very boring since you already beat the highest challenge the game as to offer you. Even Blizzard North admit it's an unfinished game, they wanted to make a second extension and maybe add some more endgame and challenging content.
I think it depends how you define endgame. I think points 1-6 are all endgame if you define it as "post hell baal". Point #7 is kinda related #5 imo, which I would say is to try/deck out all characters and classes you wish to play.
On the old Diablo II, there was a lot one could do on open battle net with hero editor. I miss those days. Still got some of those character files saved... they're like antiques now :)
Being able to solo Ubers with whatever class you happen to be playing. I did this with my summon necro. I was told it was too hard. I saw a video of someone doing it and thought I could do that too. I then did it. It was super fun.
I still want a proper PVM endgame. Not everyone is interested in PVP, and there are builds that great for PVM but not PVP, and vice versa. I want a PVM endgame that even if your character is level 99 and have the best of the best gears (min max everything) can still find yourself keep on playing this endgame because this endgame is just so fun and never gets bored.
When people say "Diablo 2 has no endgame" they probably mean the actual game doesn't contain any endgame activities that you don't have to make up yourself - which this video basically confirms - other than leveling to 99, which did get a bit more interesting with the introduction of Terror Zones.
my endgame is having an army consisting of each major build once. unfortunately the 20 char limit plays against me. I love starting the game anew and overall have my stashes being a grand item museum so to say. therefore space is my arch enemy^^
Map hack is not needed. Also racing to 99 is impossible for average person. Lama only slept 30 hrs and he has full group. Chaos terrorize only made it that much faster for them and they didn't have to only Baal at lvl 98. Pvp will be over run by d2jsp buyers. They should add popping players back to the game. That would add a another end game.
Small thing but I’m so glad you mentioned map hacks being so common! I tell my friends about getting banned in a massive ban wave because we were all map hacking and they look at me like I was aim botting!
I finally crafted my first enigma on ladder today. Chaos p1 farming was amazing yesterday found a Ber Sur and death fathom and after some trading I'm so happy!!!
i think that when people say that there's no endgame in d2r they don't mean that there's nothing to do in the game but that they don't see the point of continuing with grinding for the gear of a character that already sucsessfully completed hell mode, i mean there's ubers but you just make a smiter and that's basically it. no point in upgrading your smiter/hammerdin to continue farming hell mode if you already completed hell mode. that's why games these days have endgame systems and different engame bosses like in poe you have maps and endgame bosses and uber bosses and in last epoch you have monoliths, endgame bosses, endless arena and dungeons. im not saying d2r is a bad game, its an amazing game but im missing some interesting endgame mechanic that inspires you to keep playing and upgrading your character to push the limits of what you can do but i also understand that the devs want to keep d2r as close to the original d2 as possible
I really like the meme builds. In 20 years, I have never had a char above level 90, but I have tried more than 50 different builds for sure, Last year I have tried a Druid with only crafted gear. You can learn a lot about item and affix levels and it's fun and challenging, but surely a meme build even with a crafted 400 ED weapon because you just can't stack up +skills. If you want to do a craft only char, you'd better try out a javazon or an avenger pally, maybe even a sorc with a two handed staff.

issue i have playing public lobbies is that everyone seems to be in a damn rush. Even when i put, "WALKING act 2 start," people just join to farm ahead of me. WIsh people would slow down and enjoy the grind together, but I know I'm the minority and have been playing this game for the past year, not past 20 or so years.
One of my all time favorite things to do is craft the Summoner Trophy Necro Head +2 Necromancer Skills with +3 Skeleton Mastery, +3 Skeleton Warrior. Thats GG right there with out any other useful mods but you can keep going until you have something really incredible.
D2 is an awesome game, been playing from the start, but some of the stuff you mentioned are not end game activities at all. The definition of endgame is: activities that you are doing after you finish the game that help you progress beyond the base game. 1. The Holy Grail - in ANY game you can have a holy grail type of end game. Just by making a goal to collect every item in the game it does not mean that the game has and end game activity, it just means that you enjoy the pain and randomness of this task. 2. PVP - The only end game activity from this list 3. Racing to a specific lvl it's not and endgame activity and it should not be regarded as it is. Just because the lvl 99 grind in D2 is crap, it doesn't mean that you can call it endgame. 4. Changing the game mode is not considered end game. Again, end game means what happens after you end the game, not restarting it on another game mode. This means that Hell difficulty can be considered end game with this logic. 5. Trying different type of build is not end game. This made me laugh. 6. Speed running is again, a way of playing the game, not an endgame feature. 7. Trading is an endgame? This made me laugh again. So, in my opinion, as a purist but also as a gamer that understands that games evolved over the past 20 years and that D2 can benefit from this, these are the only end game activities in D2: 1. PVE endgame: Ubers and Diablo Clone. 2. PVP endgame is, well, PVP (low, mid, high lvl). Everything else is just "make your own end game" challenge.
Killing hardcore pkers is fun, gear a low level char out, pretend to be a newb and wait for them to come. You have the advantage of waiting and waypoints, entrances

But a well-built lvl14 charger will have about 850 life, do 350 pvp dmg 1 handed on a hard shot along with 75% block and 500+ def. Even a level 30ish pvm character that's trying to quest will go down easily. You're basically not going to harm them unless you have a LLD... which is expensive and time consuming to build. 😁
Not mentioning Ubers is a travesty! Most casual players will rarely get a shot at Torch farming, but with some effort it can be a very rewarding experience. Keep slayin!

That's exactly what we DON'T need! The three-difficulties type of game is an old school design that I find frankly... outdated. Adding a fourth one would be really disappointing. I'd prefer another kind of endgame, like new uber challenges (Tristram-style) or craftable maps. That said, the real endgame of D2R would be adding some quality of life features. Item filter, currency stacking, area level near the area name on top right screen, item level when hovering on items, bigger stash, et cetera.
I don't think your definition of endgame is what others think. Like, reaching lvl 99 and trying different builds is not really an endgame mechanic, it's something you do while playing the endgame. What most people mean about more endgame is probably something like maps or delve from PoE. The addition of terrorzones is a good example of a new endgame mechanic.
Keep your chin up! Maybe do some farming in areas you can beat to get better gear, places like the Pit and Nightmare Cows are good. If you have an online character, try and trade for gear to help your character. Look for build guides for tips what gear is most effective. And even then, ultimately it doesn't matter as long as you're having fun playing. Good luck, and enjoy!
I'd ignore that guy. You will have to farm for 100+ hours to maybe get 1 piece of gear you can use. You're better off stalking public lobbies and hoping for a free drop game. The RNG in this game is absolutely abysmal. I personally don't have time in my life, to waste on that crap. Game is fun, but putting together a character is next to impossible unless you have a large group playing as well. I'd rather farm for a perfect chikage in the Chalice Dungeons again, before even attempting to make another character in D2r.
I'm a very casual player but I've found some very good unique and rare items across four full playthroughs of D2R. Ultimately, if the game isn't rewarding enough for you nobody is forcing you to play. I'm enjoying it and that's enough for me.
One good thing about PvP is that most PvP is played on Non ladder. Why is this good? Because items are easier and cheaper to obtain. Sure there are some super rare items that are expensive but your basic PvP gear like enigma, torch, anni, etc are very obtainable.
i stopped playing d2 and d2r just for the simple reason that we dont have enough space for holy grailing, i love hoarding items so getting them to drop the uniques that are bad is a pain for me, they should add a storage tab just for holy grailing that you can put one of each unique

My favorite niche build is exploding arrow paladin with the kuko shukaku bow. I'm not sure how far I can get with it BUT I found the bow yesterday on ladder so buckle up buckaroos.
I do use D2JSP. I try to farm my own gear and sell on the site and try to see my FG go up in thousands. So far only highest i've ever got is 2K. Bad thing is the temptation to buy things when you get inpatient.
Just finished hell with my Bowazon and yesterday was rune hunting and Diablo clone popped up . Luckily I had enough full rejuves to keep my merc alive and got an anni . 17/5 - Not too bad
You also have what, 7 different classes, and at least 2 different end game builds per class? So right there, there's a minimum of 14 different ways to run the endgame. On top of the meme builds, DIY builds, etc.
I already went +2 over my highest lvl ever, i got lvl 90. I made my first real zerker , i'm working on my first Grief . I love running TZ's,stony tomb runs .....
Too much endgame almost haha. Go farm an infinity or enigma, go make another class, get 99, holy grail, LLD, farming full perfect equipment for every slot, ubers. So much
wouldn’t even attempt a holy grail without storage upgrades. but a lot of that other stuff is meh to me. i like pve, solo and coop. and i like putting together characters. so i think it will be more fun when high runes are more common.

I really dont think blizzard gets it at all. Diablo 2. Not diablo not diablo 3 or 4 diablo 2 is where its at. Its the only game i play other than smash bros or mortal kombat. I love that i can play it on my switch or my ps4. I bought my friends each a copy and forced them to play with me. And they love it! I hope that they continue to add more content.
My dude. I love Diablo and i respect your options. But those are just /not/ endgame. You listed a bunch of self imposed challenges - which of course can be fun and i do some of them myself - but the big difference here is you can make up stuff like that in games with actual post-game as well. Just because you have found a way to entartain yourself with a game that presents you with no more content to explore doesnt mean it has said content because you willed it into existence.
I dont really agree with this. Every end game stuff is way too repetitive and I dont believe its the reason people stay. I believe its games nowdays games isnt as great as before. Also the loot in d2, they just mastered that one, no game gives you the feeling that d2 does in terms of the excitement on what u might find and the reward if u find something great.
I get that you think it's a LOT of endgame, but they're comparing it to modern ARPGs. PoE has 10x the endgame of D2 (not joking even a bit). Last Epoch is easily 3-5x the endgame of D2R.
wow, you certainly have to lower your standards to differentiate those as 7 forms of endgame. compare d2 to path of exile and you wouldn't split hairs to make really weak points.

Necro works too. Wands can be crafted and can get skills. Never gonna be God-tier but doable

Need new Difficulty after Hell , Terror similar to Terrorized whole Campaign.
That's exactly what we DON'T need! The three-difficulties type of game is an old school design that I find frankly... outdated. Adding a fourth one would be really disappointing. I'd prefer another kind of endgame, like new uber challenges (Tristram-style) or craftable maps.
That said, the real endgame of D2R would be adding some quality of life features. Item filter, currency stacking, area level near the area name on top right screen, item level when hovering on items, bigger stash, et cetera.

I don't think your definition of endgame is what others think. Like, reaching lvl 99 and trying different builds is not really an endgame mechanic, it's something you do while playing the endgame. What most people mean about more endgame is probably something like maps or delve from PoE. The addition of terrorzones is a good example of a new endgame mechanic.
I can’t even beat hell difficulty so I’ve never made it to end game. 😢😢
Keep your chin up! Maybe do some farming in areas you can beat to get better gear, places like the Pit and Nightmare Cows are good. If you have an online character, try and trade for gear to help your character. Look for build guides for tips what gear is most effective. And even then, ultimately it doesn't matter as long as you're having fun playing. Good luck, and enjoy!
I'd ignore that guy. You will have to farm for 100+ hours to maybe get 1 piece of gear you can use. You're better off stalking public lobbies and hoping for a free drop game. The RNG in this game is absolutely abysmal. I personally don't have time in my life, to waste on that crap. Game is fun, but putting together a character is next to impossible unless you have a large group playing as well. I'd rather farm for a perfect chikage in the Chalice Dungeons again, before even attempting to make another character in D2r.

I'm a very casual player but I've found some very good unique and rare items across four full playthroughs of D2R. Ultimately, if the game isn't rewarding enough for you nobody is forcing you to play. I'm enjoying it and that's enough for me.
@@greggen63 I'm casual. I play maybe 10 hours a week. But I love the game. It's just hard to get good gear with so little time to farm.
Xbox actually does have achievements for D2R mostly easy to reach benchmarks.
One good thing about PvP is that most PvP is played on Non ladder. Why is this good? Because items are easier and cheaper to obtain. Sure there are some super rare items that are expensive but your basic PvP gear like enigma, torch, anni, etc are very obtainable.
i stopped playing d2 and d2r just for the simple reason that we dont have enough space for holy grailing, i love hoarding items so getting them to drop the uniques that are bad is a pain for me, they should add a storage tab just for holy grailing that you can put one of each unique

D2 has my fav end game of any game I've played. You can never get the perfect char

After watching this video I have come to the conclusion there is no endgame in Diablo 2 so you didn't do a very good job.

I do use D2JSP. I try to farm my own gear and sell on the site and try to see my FG go up in thousands. So far only highest i've ever got is 2K. Bad thing is the temptation to buy things when you get inpatient.
Just finished hell with my Bowazon and yesterday was rune hunting and Diablo clone popped up . Luckily I had enough full rejuves to keep my merc alive and got an anni . 17/5 - Not too bad

You also have what, 7 different classes, and at least 2 different end game builds per class? So right there, there's a minimum of 14 different ways to run the endgame. On top of the meme builds, DIY builds, etc.

Completely min maxing your character with perfect everything and choice rares is my end game

Too much endgame almost haha. Go farm an infinity or enigma, go make another class, get 99, holy grail, LLD, farming full perfect equipment for every slot, ubers. So much

wouldn’t even attempt a holy grail without storage upgrades. but a lot of that other stuff is meh to me. i like pve, solo and coop.

I really dont think blizzard gets it at all. Diablo 2. Not diablo not diablo 3 or 4 diablo 2 is where its at. Its the only game i play other than smash bros or mortal kombat. I love that i can play it on my switch or my ps4. I bought my friends each a copy and forced them to play with me. And they love it! I hope that they continue to add more content.
Farming some zones like a bot is not an endgame. Sadly D2 is very lacking in that deparment.
My dude. I love Diablo and i respect your options. But those are just /not/ endgame. You listed a bunch of self imposed challenges - which of course can be fun and i do some of them myself - but the big difference here is you can make up stuff like that in games with actual post-game as well. Just because you have found a way to entartain yourself with a game that presents you with no more content to explore doesnt mean it has said content because you willed it into existence.

I dont really agree with this. Every end game stuff is way too repetitive and I dont believe its the reason people stay. I believe its games nowdays games isnt as great as before. Also the loot in d2, they just mastered that one, no game gives you the feeling that d2 does in terms of the excitement on what u might find and the reward if u find something great.
I get that you think it's a LOT of endgame, but they're comparing it to modern ARPGs. PoE has 10x the endgame of D2 (not joking even a bit). Last Epoch is easily 3-5x the endgame of D2R.
I spend a lot of time crafting rings ans amulettes. Never get a 2/20 frc ammy. I think i crafted 1k ammy 😅

wow, you certainly have to lower your standards to differentiate those as 7 forms of endgame. compare d2 to path of exile and you wouldn't split hairs to make really weak points.
