@@joncollins7730 Definitely not. The DX Special is a re-release of the DX with a few more games. If you want Arcade Tekken 3 / KI, go hit up either the Odroid N2+ or a mini-pc. Not one Pandora box is capable of it.
If you connect a USB keyboard to these boxes can you set up the key mapping to the correct controls? I already have arcade controls wired to generate keyboard key presses for a PC. If that's not possible on the family editions I think I need to look at the rewiring it all for the jamma version.
I'm still using a Pandora's Box 6 in my Alphacade. It's fine for me since all I mostly care about it is old 2D arcade games. At some point I'll probably upgrade it but this doesn't look like it.
PS2 games can mostly run perfectly and some PS3 games too, but on a mid to high end miniPC. If a new Pandora Box were to perform similarly, it would cost between $500 to $900.
Good morning, can you tell me if the arcade games play well? like neo geo and mame, that is the only games i'm interested in, i'm 35 i remember the times where we had arcades in every cofee shop, my brother is 6 years older than me and he took me with him, but i could only watch him play, he used to tell me " come on grow up faster so you can play with me xD ". Wen i finally was 18 the arcades were gone, we want to buy this with the arcade sticks so we can finally play together. Thank you for the review :)
Hey, are you thinking about reviewing the Pandora DX Vertical edition at some point (the cocktail version called as well). I wanted to get one but I am not technical and I have no idea how one could give it power (as it's not the family edition and I don't have an arcade cabinet). If you could review it in a future video, could you pls explain the part about using it at home without a cabinet pls?
Compare the connectors and interfaces of this with your pandora box, if they are the same you should be able to direct swap. Even if not, I'm sure you can get whatever necessary connections needed to get it working.

Hi everyone, I got my Pandora's box DX special but came all in Chinese! I know how easy would be to go to settings and change the language but in chinese is very hard to do, looking screenshots online I located the Language setting but when I click on it, it only gives me two options which I assume are Chinese and English, I tried both by choosing and saving, box restarts and all shows in Chinese, I wonder if I'm doing something wrong or this box came defected. any help would be great :)
What I don't understand is why the manufacturers don'lt have a couple of people work on the software. I get that they want to use cheap chips, but configuring the software would be the cheapest way to improve performance. Do the manufacturers not even watch any of these channels? Cant they even make sure the tip 100 games are setup correctly? Why can't they just hire team pandory to fix this stuff?
Cause they don't care . Why improve software when you can change the number or name and make it sound likes something new and better while changing very little so less work more profit .

I think it's better to just go with the Mini PC. Yea you will have to spend more money but you are going have better satisfying experience with 60,000 retro games. Just save your money and buy a Mini PC.
To be honest, the Super Console X PC Extreme hardware can't compare with those MiniPCs using the Ryzen APUs so it's better to get the latter of you want to run more than a few PS2 games comfortably.
one weird thing I cannot understand, is that they insisted to use a extremely old version of MAME 2003 (0.78) which by default, a lot of issues to emulate games such as aliens 3 guns or golden axe revenge of death adder etc. sound issues also caused by the terrible ancient emulators. It seems that the guys who makes decision of what to do within that company doesn't play retro games themselves. Anyway, let's see if they did any change in EX version
None of these emu machines ever seem all too great tbh. Decided to just make a bootable usb stick, stick it in my PC, boot from it, tadaa all the emu's I want and they have the full power of the PC available. Want to do some old skool games at a friends, usb in pocket, plug it in there, tadaaa. :') Do you also collect old consoles and computers (have yet to check out the rest of your channel)? Having a hard time finding broken ones to fix for a reasonable price in the Netherlands. Prices on Marktplaats are like "yeah no, junk that may or may not even be fixable by the best of us isn't worth 100s..." *subbed* Groetjes! (You are Dutch right? My Dutch accent detector says so ;) )
It s possible now to play Dreamcast..stv..saturn..deathsmiles (from mame)..Terrordrome..? I will be happy with a stuff like that without glitch and original resolution.

The quality is so hit and miss on these devices and that is the kind of thing that puts me off from getting a Pandora's box most of all. With all the steps I think I would have to take in order to make one of these work well, I feel I would be better off re-purposing a last generation mobile phone which would be both more powerful and flexible in terms of what I could do with it.
The real solution is to get coinops on a cheap used computer. Coinops arcade retro 2 completely blows away these boxes. Problem is it requires some out of box setup but still pretty easy. I'd love to have an out of box solution, but these manufactures just dont seem to care.

The last Pandora's box that I know of to have a Fan is the 18s Pro. I just wouldn't buy one without a fan.

The DX Special does have one new feature. It now supports 4 USB Controllers instead of just two from the original DX.

The cut-outs on the top are still there, so why didn't they put the fan in the DX Special? Seems like there's no good reason to leave a fan out.

Not likely, you need a better than average PC with 4ghz+ and at least 8gb ddr4.
These as in Pandora boxes, no, but mid to high end miniPCs can run upto WiiU and PS3 games, though be prepared to pay for them.

Pandora's boxes have issues with older classic games like Galaga and Donkey Kong. They are missing the sample files that make these games incomplete.

Check out ETA Prime videos, he reviewed quite a few, like the Minisforum UM700 or Beelink GTR.

Probably because the old/low end chip used in the box is only able to run that version smoothly.

The just released Pandora Box EX had higher spec hardware that I heard fixes the screen tearing on 2D games. Supports N64, Dreancast PSP
What chip does it use? In general you can tell the performance level based on the chipset it uses and compare to similar products using that chipset.

The S905 chipset is on the low end side, I had a 2 year old Android box with the S905x3 chipset that costs only 30 bucks.

Pandora box 4s works great for me. 880 games and all work really well. Have a pandora box 18 with 3000 games and I never use it.

My smartphone with retroarch emulator is better than this.
