@@dani_i8942 First time I've been disappointed with a track from them to be honest. I am glad though that this one won't be on the new album that they're bringing out, Josh said at their Pulse of the Maggots show that the new record is going to be super heavy so that's something to look forward to, just hoping they don't get too metalcore.
Proving yet again that they are one of our best metal bands today. So glad they are going strong after their hitatus.

@@beebopoped4720 They went on hiatus at the end of March 2016 (officially announced in September that same year) until December 6 2019, when they released I Sever and announced Cycle of Suffering.

In fact, Josh ended Sylosis in 2016 because of his self-imposed restrictions on how the band should sound (E standard tuning, 80s thrash as a primary influence, vintage-oriented production, no breakdowns, etc.). He immediately started writing songs for a new project and sent the demos to Nuclear Blast and they said it sounded like Sylosis, so he added some more Sylosis-isms to those songs and made Cycle Of Suffering. The real reason that the hiatus was officially announced was him joining Architects. He slowly worked on recording CoS during the hiatus.
Also, he's stated during one of his Twitch streams that his new goal with Sylosis is to make "metal metal" music, in the vein of Pantera and Lamb of God, since he finds there aren't many bands like that nowadays.
@@13guitard00d thanks for the heads up. It sounds like Josh ditched some of his self-imposed limitations (at least on the tuning) for the last album. Good for us if it unleashed his creativity.
I just discovered this band. And... HOLY SHIT. The tone, the voice, the shredding. Pure metal, I love it

I love Sylosis, seen them live more than 6 times and listened to everything they have made. I like this song but I really hope they make thrashier stuff. Thrash is generally dying as a genre and I wish these guys keep it alive.

Sylosis has been my favourite band since I first listened to them in 2010. 3 singles since Cycle of Suffering is a blessing. It’s really helping out with the wait for the next major album.

With so many bands changing their sounds of late and alienating fans, apart from those who blindly follow and wheel out the ‘it’s progression’ line (BMTH, Architects, Parkway etc) it’s a relief to have Sylosis still doing what they do best and sounding great 🤘🏼
They manage to do the impossible - they strike a balance between staying true to the sound that they're known for and adding new elements/experimenting.

The outro breakdown is so sick with the left right bouncing between the guitars and that steady ride cymbal.
