Hi Gaynor, I'm fairly new to your channel, after a friend suggested a video of yours to me. You are delightful, and so is your art. It's completely different to the things I create, and I love that. I enjoy coming along for the ride as you share your process. Look forward to the next one!
Love to see you getting into the sketchbook again!! "it's like looking at the clouds"... i love that, and love you. Thank you for another lovely video 💗
Good morning Gaynor, nice to have you here for breakfast 😊 l do think its a privilege to get to see inside an artists sketch book. I have books full of what some folk would perceive as rubbish. Its so encouraging to see you scribble and scratch and print and paint where you are letting go of ideas. They are places of practice....... Im looking forward to seeing the new look cabin.....Thank you for your bright and cheery inspiration Alioban ❤🐕xx
Hello again! Loving the abstract figures! ❤ You have given me the courage and inspiration to sketch and play! You never know what will come out of those little sketches🌻 Thank you Gaynor!
Gaynor, you inspire this broad spectrum of creators. You make a good run of whatever motivates you, reach a sense of intermission, and plunge right on to another exciting muse. Thank you for sharing all of your tips and processes. How great it would have been to have your leadership when doing required fashion illustration. The 70s and 80s were rife with accomplished designer-illustrators but the focus was necessarily on the garments, specifically silhouette. Your brush has a wider scope of pure artistry. Beautiful!
I always at all times have my tools out so they are immediately available me they are inviting me to do something that's inspiring and your videos are the best ever Gaynor you have no idea how much I look forward to seeing your work to hearing your voice ❤😊
Your appetite for exploration and the fearlessness that goes with it is very encouraging Gaynor. I like how you use your sketchbooks..... for just what you need at any given moment. There are no rules, are there! BTW, for the November exhibition..... I really like the large pink-toned floral work in the top left corner when you were chatting in your studio. That would be a winner I'm sure!
I so look forward for your video on Thursdays. I could watch you everyday and I quite do I rewatch your streams all the time. Thanks again so much for all your support hard work and encouragement you share with us all. Much love to you and your family and friends from Ontario ❤️🙏🇨🇦😍🤗
Hello Gaynor, what a great example of how to use and have fun in a sketchbook! It doesn’t have to be perfection and should be for experimenting in..I know some people are guilty of not wanting to spoil a lovely new sketchbook but you just have to go for it!I think it’s great when you look back at a page and something pops out!Just like your green figure on the canvas.I. immediately saw one of the Beatles crossing Abbey Road lol!Wonderfull figures, loving watching you create these!Oh,please carry on with Your French lessons on here,I don’t speak a word of French so it all sounds great to me!😁Have a fab creative week!❤
"accidental effects you couldn't make in any other way"...appreciate that statement, the serendipity of painting, sketching loose and free. This video is so inspiring and pushes us a bit to have a go at figures. No perfection required, in fact the out of proportion is what makes an interesting and dynamic painting. (I quite like the big hand) You encourage us to loosen up, be more expressive, and throw perfection to the wind. I think this lesson will help me to bring more life to my sketches so I thank you for that.❤❤
Good morning Gaynor, wow I am so motivated now to go into my studio and do some timed sketching. Watching you is such fun. You are so right about using the markers, pencils, etc. I have such a collection of everything. I am going to work on using what I have. It’s amazing how art supplies become addicting. As always, enjoyed your video over coffee. ❤ Laurie oh very excited about your studio changes. 😊
I too thought of the Beatles - love the line - 'In Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs... ' and all the people stop and say Hello.... such lovely thoughts and pictures in the head - Thank you Gaynor for another wonderful video, out of this world and in the here and now all at the same time.
Lovely as always Gaynor thankyou. I have all my (most used colours) pens / pencils in small cardboard tuna trays at the top of my work table. Some are stacked if less used but still at the ready. Works a treat!
Thank you for another fascinating art weekly. Love the fashion drawing. I have a large vintage feathered hat like the one in the magazine picture. It is black with black and white feathers around the brim. Shout out to Matisse, I like to see his continued influence. Stay well.
Always such fun to experiment and play, never really knowing what's going to show up! I love the various iterations of woman with hat. Perhaps Handy Dandy Craig can make you a a little "chest" to hold your "drawers" of Posca pens and other markers. I love the chests I've seen where as they descend, each drawer juts out just a little farther than than the previous, so you can actually see the contents, while saving space by having them stacked on top of each other. I'm really enjoying playing in my sketchbook now, with inspiration from you!
Hi Janina, Handy Dandy has the Cabin project at the moment ! I daren't add to the list...doing my best to pass the drill and the right screws..... I will suggest a chest next year !!! XXX
Hi Charlotte, re cabin....the last couple of days have been fun....holding bits of wood in place while Craig does the serious stuff !!! We are out of the ground....a bit of framework never looked so exciting !!! XX
I love watching your video on the TV on a Thursday morning... just watched it again on my phone so I can comment... SO inspirational and fun. I was pleased to see Hale Beach (60×30 canvas) again, one of my absolute favourites. Looking forward to more figures next week. Xxx
This was so inspiring again! After last week, I took my high fashion mag collection and tore out pages to provide ideas for renderings, one in particular had a large hat, which was delightful. This week gets me even more excited to start on this, and today is the day! :) Thanks so much for the help and inspiration, as always, so very appreciated! p.s. great news about the international shipping!!
I may have to watch this week’s video a few times. So chock full of inspiration! Thank you so much Gaynor. This week I will be taking one of my paintings to exhibit in our fall show. So hard to decide what to take! I got Honorable Mention in the Spring Show so the pressure is on! Good luck with your figures. See you next week!
Thanks for the sharing and inspiration once again, Gaynor. Drawing in general is so difficult for me. And figures and faces are absolutely scary.... at least when I get done with them 😂 all stemming from memories of early school days and not being good enough. So new resolution: timer out and contour drawing practice. Somewhere I have a book about drawing with the left side of the brain... must dig it out too. Have a lovely painty week working towards your exhibition, Gaynor. All good stuff as always x
As Always, I enjoy how you move from sketchbook to canvas and back, as well as having several paintings in the works. I too, usually have a few things going, but I have been working on small pieces for so long, I’m afraid to go bigger. I only started painting in 2020 and then on rocks. In 2021, I moved to paper and canvas using acrylics, then alcohol inks. This year I started painting with watercolors, then gouache and mixed media. I love abstract and land, mountain and seascapes, as well as nature (birds, wildlife, florals, etc.) and am spending time on sketching, faces and figures. I bought my first 9 x 12 sketchbook and am going to start on that soon. Btw, I’m a multi-discipline creative. I’ve been a musician, songwriter and singer since the early 70’s, so I split my time between all of my creative endeavors. You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you ask you! ❤
WOW, you are having the best time ever ! How about fixing a few sheets of paper together in order to warm up to making a larger painting ? Just have a play XXX
Ah Thursday bliss! Lovely to see your Sketchbook work / play. Most evenings I'm sketchbooking whilst watching TV 😊 I'm hooked on abstract drawings in the style of Kadinsky, Klee and Miro. Have a lovely week xx
Been having an amazing time with alcohol ink on paper. The fact that it dryes so quickly and then what ... well, it's more fun when add ons create the unknown shapes. Still want to venture more into adding texiles. Also, I use different strings with paint pulling into shapes. The next self teaching will B using clay to make shapes. There's fun saving and using tea bags... great little papers to create with. Old books become nice collage pages with alittle gesso ! I wear trifocals, that way no changing glasses to the different distances for vision. Stay happy. Ann, Florida fan
Hello Gaynor, inspirational as usual. You obviously had fun in your usual “what happens if” ..…way. Can’t wait to see what you do with your studio. Have a lovely week. 💐
I LOVE Art Weekly so much.Thank you for your inspiring uplifting videos. Thursdays are the best! I"m wondering if the lovely floral piece hanging behind you in the cabin is a finished piece from the red chrysanthemums you started awhile ago. It's beautiful and I'm hoping we can have a closer look at it at some point. Have great week. You inspired me to actually get my paints out this week and have a go :)
Hi I think you would find a lot to paint in Australia. The red soil and nature with the blue sky and gum trees and natives are beautiful. My best friend owns a country farm retreat called Hosanna and it's close to Byron Bay. You can look it up online but I think you would love it.
Good morning Gaynor! Lovely to see you today, you are my bright Thursday morning sunshine!😊 I would also be interested to know what was that first green you used on the 30x60 cm canvas. Thank you for inspiring me, always!❤

Hi Gaynor What is the name of the soft creamy green you used from the tube on the tall canvas? It's funny to see you putting on warmer clothes as we down here are taking them off as it warms up, and up!
Hello Gaynor 🙌🏻 I see that you are getting into figure and fashion. I was wondering, as you were drawing in your sketchbook if you have ever tried paint sticks, sometimes known as oil bars, depending on the manufacturer I took figure drawing for four years in college. I really love drawing the figure although painting figures was a struggle for me. So I thought I would ask if you have ever used that particular medium because I found it very rewarding when painting figures. 🤔
OCD rules when it comes to my pencils etc. I haunt charity shops for tin pencil cases, so my pens in one, pencil crayons in another, Supracolour in another. Etc
