Maru, Serral, Raynor are like rock paper scissors: Maru can beat Raynor by standing still and firm as a rock, shrugging off damage Serral can beat Maru by over whelming him from every side like a paper wrap Raynor can beat Serral by cutting through his defences.
but maru also beats serral around half the time and serral beats reynor a lot recently, so more like maru beats reynor, maru ties serral, serral beats reynor

He meant for the 12 pool. He meant it wasnt an all in or any kind of timing attack. He just made the 12 pool for that early poke and in case maru proxy raxxed.
Zerg has no counter to ghosts, lowko. Banelings aren't a counter to ghost any more than they are a counter to marauders, because ghosts aren't light units. In any of those scenarios, if maru's ghosts were caught by banelings and he "just" splits, the banes don't deal enough damage to even kill the ghosts, because it takes 7 banelings to kill a ghost. Zerglings are light, so ghosts deal double damage to them and any expensive unit just can get sniped. The only soft counter to ghosts imo is the infestor, because a single unnoticed infestor can render ghosts unable to snipe or run away, but then again, ghosts have about the same EMP range like fungal growth, so in reality T could prevent ghosts from being hit. Imo T currently suffers from too good lategame units vs Z. Which makes a style like maru's, just sitting back, letting zerg mine out the map but take unfavourable trades and then dominating the lategame without zerg having a counter to it too good but very error-prone too, because if at one point maru makes a mistake, he will probably just die, but if he makes no mistake, there's no way for Z to win the game.
Don’t understand why Reynor tried to push the issue frontally when in my opinion Zerg is for run-bys. He tried it once with the dropalords, but should’ve gone for it more or even for a nydus. As this game shows you cannot kill a terran by killing SCVs (because they have mules) and cannot kill it frontally because of turtling (libs, tanks, marines, ghosts, etc.) so the only option is to take down the production facilities the units come from. I guess it’s easier said than done though. 🙂
These command centers are a brilliant move from Maru, who anticipated Reynor's economical supremacy, A perfectly timed strategical decision that allowed him not to die under the piles of bailings.
Man , what a come back , Maru play this like a strategy game and fully take advantage of the choke points on the map . The switching from scv to mule actually was brilliant, every time reynor ran by with bangling he always end up trading with bunch of mule that almost expired .
Such a great breath of fresh air! Love what you do Lowko, thank you for your love and dedication to such a great game. Your casting is by far the most animated in my opinion. Again, thanks for the amazing casting!
the biggest evolution I've seen in tvz is that (with maru leading the charge) they've relatively recently realized exactly what those ghosts can handle on their own. so the defense is better because ghosts are handling more, and they're losing less ghosts because they know what ghosts can't handle. I'm sure this has been over years but it feels recent that it has gotten SO well handled.
If our planet ever runs out of Salt, all we'll have to do to replenish it is to hold Lowko in front of a screen with Ghosts. You can feel it flow from him at the mere mention of those cloaky-bois.

That sensor tower at the far-right base was actually galaxy brain. With the planetary fortress, two liberators, and single seige tank, Maru wiped out a huge amount of Zerg who just rushed in eagerly, and it was right about when the mules were about to expire anyways. So basically Maru got a TON of free minerals and then baited a massive army trade in his favour without even losing the Command Center. Maru played ridiculously well this game, even though he technically had a massive economic disadvantage, he still had all of the resources he ever needed for whatever he wanted to do throughout the game. From then on it was just a matter of always making great trades, which is easier said than done, but Maru's clearly able to pull it off. Using the Ghosts to bait hordes of Banelines through his Seige Tank corridors was also great to watch, really getting unconventional value out of those units to make their early production worth it.
I love watching Maru's late game. 26:27 This moves needed to happen earlier for Reynor. Wish he made more lurkers sooner, there goes a point in the game where ling-bane lurker can run over ghost pretty well and even sandwich them. At least that's what I've noticed from games with Dark vs mass ghost.
The build forces Zerg players to soldier up, slowing down the droning and the economic expansion. Maru doesn't lose the marines, medivac shows up and all of a sudden the terran army is ready for some serious multi-prong.
The problem with playing against Maru is that zerg usually expands aggressively as they normally would but this inadvertently gives more time for maru to just turtle up and create an unbreakable fortress which which plays in his favour in the end.
Maru is literally a very skilled bronze league hero. Big TPM, building armor, high sec auto tracking, Mass command centers, nukes........All of them can be found in bronze league terrans
Maru solved the problem that in late game zerg can trade out terran eco with units and overwhelm terran with pure army. Just build more CCs :) No seriously when you think about it, SCVs cost only 50minerals so they are really cheap units. The only reason terran eco crumbles is becaue you can't build them fast enough and losing 20 in a fight creates a snowball effect that allows zerg to swarm you with better eco. But if you have 5 ccs you can instantly rebuild them as well as mule to fill the gap. That's how Reynor's strat of destroying eco didn't work this game. Despite losing 10 SCVs each engagement Maru still has a really strong eco due to those CCs. And eventually Maru is going to out-scale reynor because his trades are way better than reynor's. Ofc, you first need to play like Maru so you don't die in those fights straight ups.
I think the point of the triple rax is to force a response from your opponent - get them to tech against marines instead of other units and then do a tech shift - or atleast you will probably know the kinds of things your opponent will build after that.
That was unbelievable. It looks sooo good. Maru defending perfectly, switching forces from one side of the map to other, placing perfect count of siege tanks around planetary fortresses slowing down any possible advancement. And when the zerg finishes with the planetaries - the GHOST DIVISION arrives, killing already weakened Raynor's forces. At the same time destroying zerg base on other side with marauders. That was a terran dream. It's just not possible to kill such strategy with hydra-ling-bane, it'll go the same scenario in endless cycle until zerg will run out of resources. Unless terran loose all ghosts - but Maru did now allowing this.
Coming from a terran player I actually think they are OP if microed to perfection, like maru does it here. They are bulky, can cloak, do a lot of aa dmg, snipe counters basically every tier 3 unit of zerg emp counters spellcasters and the nuke is a nice bonus. But like 99,9 percent of the player base can't micro like that so I would say they are balanced over all. It's the same thing that happened with the reaper where it got nerfed because 1 terran was able to micro it perfectly and absolutely demolish zergs (I think that was byun)
@@konev13thebeast While every unit has more potential when used by a pro there is a limit to what zerglings or zealots can do because there are straight forward meele fighters.
