My grandmother would add a couple of mashed bananas to the egg & sugar mix before tempering. This step adds the natural banana flavor to the custard itself in addition to the sliced banana layer. Has anyone else seen this done? Just curious, Blessings to all💞
I've just made this custard and had a little taste before setting it in the fridge to chill. I've made custards before but not completely like this. So far, it's delicious! I can't wait to assemble the pie!!
Banoffee Pie 🥧 is a nice variation on this recipe. A simple pie shell (flour 1 and a half cups, icing sugar 2tbs, butter 80g, egg yolk and cold water 2 tbs) rub butter into dry ingredients to make crumbly mixture then add wet ingredients. Knead until soft and refrigerate for 30 mins. Roll out and line buttered 24" fluted pie tin. Fork the base all over. Refrigerate for another 30 mins. Cover with baking paper and fill with rice or dried beans. Bake blind for 20 mins. Filling (sweetened condensed milk 395g, butter 40g, syrup 2tbs, brown sugar half cup). Melt everything and stir for 10 mins until smooth and caramelly. Cool. Pour into cooled pie shell. Top with a layer of bananas and light whipped cream. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Refrigerate. Eat.
Okay I made it. It was delicious too sweet even tho I cut down 1/4 cup a sugar it was still to dam sweet I would take 1/3 cup off now BUT because of the 1/4 I took off it wasn’t as dense but I would definitely recommend this recipe it was easy and delicious
So, how many % of fat has „heavy” cream? Sory but in my country everything is in percents so mostly cream for desserts have 30 or 36%. Which arę you using?

@@ritarobinson6944 you just don’t have sense of humor! I’m very sure, by watching her over the years on comedy shows, Martha would find it funny. I’m sure someone already used that with her.
She says she likes that way. Everyone does not like MERINGUE, (proper spelling). I for one hate it and whipped cream, and remove them from desserts that have either on them.
Crust crumbled and fell apart.( time you state in oven is much too long. ) Too brittle. Pudding middle was ok but still not firm enough to cut a piece of triangle shaped pie. Tastes ok, but a mess on the plate.

I reduced ½ cup of sugar and it’s really great pie!! ❤ Thank you so much!!
I have a small organic banana farm in the Caribbean. I love this recipe.

Oooohhh thank you im gonna try that bc i wanna banana cream pie - not a custard and banana slices. Bless you and your grandma
I love to add a little lemon juice to the cut bananas to keep them from browning so fast.
It's a good thing.
You LOOOOVE it?? Really??

Lolol
Please don't cut bananas

Does anybody think 1/2 cup corn starch too much? My custard was very thick and I added less starch
That seems like soo much corn starch to me. How much did you add instead?
Turns out the recipe is different than what Martha says in the video for corn starch
A talented Woman!!💜👌👏🎂❤
FYI the written recipe doesn't mention the vanilla bean but does mention powdered sugar. No idea what that's for.
Yum, Martha.
Omg! Thank you.
😋 delicious
my favorite pie.
Delectable!
Would it work if you match the bananas instead of slicing them?
I love Martha ❤️
Martha! Always, I love your recipes, 🥰 from Florida
Hello from Washington State!👍😁💐
Can you mashed the bananas and add them to the custard?
I love this woman ❤️😌
Recipe link is not the recipe in the video.

Does anyone have a clue what tip that is she’s using on the piping bag?
Yumm 🥰

Either one is fine! Which one is your favorite?
Can a Banana Cream Pie be made up the night before?
Yes, sorry didn’t know if anyone answered or not. If your adding bananas on top you can do that the next day.
I’m surprised no one ever called the show “Martha Fakes” !
Shame shame if you can not say something nice be quiet and find something or someplace else to hang out.
@@ritarobinson6944 you just don’t have sense of humor!

I’m sure someone already used that with her.
The written recipe that’s linked is her different recipe from years ago 😅 confusing!
I don’t understand: vanilla custard ? Not banana custard/pudding??
😍😋😋

Oh lord i love you baby girl
HELLO MARTH
❤❤❤🙏
BE AWARE that the print recipe is NOT the same as this video.
Her way is cute but its the lazy way. ive seen people use egg white and make the morange and brown it in the oven.
She says she likes that way. Everyone does not like MERINGUE, (proper spelling). I for one hate it and whipped cream, and remove them from desserts that have either on them.
How much sugar please
