HANDS DOWN BEST RECIPE! I have literally tried a few youtube recipes to make for my fiancés bday today as banana cream pie is his favorite, and this right here ladies and gentlemen is where its at! The ONLY thing i did differently was chop my fresh banana coins in half and mix them in the custard before pouring it in the crust and cooling it overnight. This is to die for. Definitely going into my recipe box! Thank you so much! ♡
Made it yesterday. Let it sit in the fridge all night, and made the cream this morning. Neighbors think I'm the best. What a great tasting pie. First time ever making one for me....
My 15 year old just followed your recipe and made us this pie for our Easter dessert. It was so delicious! We had to use gluten free vanilla wafers and they worked great. We love your videos!
@@SugarSpunRunCan you use banana extract instead of vanilla? I prefer a real banana pie rather than vanilla with just bananas in it And I don't want to use store but instant putting.
This pie is HEAVENLY, your family WILL ask you what kind of sorcery it is. It’s also so easy to make if you follow the instructions, don’t skip anything! Take your time, and if you have leftover custard you can chop favorite cookies or fruits into it!
❤I will most DEFINITELY be making this delicious looking recipe asap.... this looks fabulous! Sounds rich and delightful! Thank you!! And if you don't already, PLEASE do a video for a rich, old-fashioned peach cobbler with real butter in the crust, if you would, please.....
I’ve made this twice now and it’s an absolute family favorite!!! Thank you so much!💛 I also added a 1/2 tsp of banana extract to the filling and sprinkled cinnamon on the bananas before adding the second layer!
Made your banana cream pie recipe (though I made a 10" Nilla wafer crust, so used 3 large bananas) for my nephew's birthday. It was a HUGE hit! Made homemade whipped cream on top. He was THRILLED to take home the rest of the pie, and I now have a standing order for two birthday banana cream pies. Thank you, I'm a subscriber now!
I love the way you explain the steps and the fact that you wrote them all in the description box below, girl I just had to subscribe and hit that bell thank you.
I like how when you're making this you're not doing the method where you have to temper your eggs. It's a lot of whisking doing it this way but it definitely makes a delicious pie and has less room for error.
I made this twice and it's superb. I'm going to make another one tomorrow for my neighbors birthday treat. It's easy and turns out so perfect. Thanks Sugar Spun Run.

This was a hit yesterday for Thanksgiving with my family. They said next time, I should make 2 pies instead of one. Literally the pie disappeared 😂😂 i felt bad because not everyone got to try it. My husband only gave me two bites from the piece we were supposed to share! 😅
I love a banana cream pie! I made this pie last year... but the custard didn’t set up so it was runny.. but it tasted so good! I am going to try again!
Question - If you are not a baker nor a cook, can you make this? real question, no lie, I do not know how to cook and I would like to make this for thanksgiving or Christmas for my family as appreciation! 💖
I think it may end up making the pie too runny but I haven’t tried it to say for sure. You’ll need some to make the topping too so it may be worth it to get some if you want to make it. 😊
This is really good, but a little too sweet for me. I think next time I will use 1/2 cup instead of 3/4 cup of sugar. My son loved it. He likes pie instead of cake for his birthdays.
So chilling it 24hrs is the secret to get the pudding to set nice and firm for cutting? Ty also I realized you cut out the tempering of the eggs. People might have been doing that for no reason this whole time.
OH Thank you! FINALLY, a simple but very well-done recipe! Seriously, yours is the only video for this recipe I have seen that forgoes all the fanciful nonsense like copper pots and pans, exorbitant or non-essential ingredients, and just goes straight to the dish. Simply elegant and perfect. I have one question. Can I blend the bananas and mix with the pudding instead of placing them on top?
I think blending the bananas would lead to weird texture and would probably separate out so I don't think I would recommend it. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Sorry for the delayed response.
I will definitely try this but will substitute your custard with French crème vanilla custard recipe. I find in pies and tarts you need a thick custard.
This will be my first time making a Banana Cream Pie and love the lemon juice tip to keep the bananas from browning, but am wondering, does it give the bananas or the pie itself a lemon flavour at all?
Since the Nilla Wafers are no longer available in Canada, I will be following your vanilla wafer recipe. When I go to make the crust for the banana cream pie, will I still be using 65 cookies? I'm not sure if that number reflects the performance of the store bought cookies only. Thank you.
