Yes, they had a whole system in place for this. Once out of the water the main chute was packed in a trash bag with clean water to get as much salt off of it as possible. The rigs were then returned to land on a separate boat so they could be washed and both chutes hung to dry. The reserves were then repacked by the master riggers on the trip.
