I hate it. I was into Music, Post Punk music, Dance music, the whole bit, before this. House/Rave pummels everything. It's just been a 'now' ever since, and people have been going back to various pre-House/Rave sounds and styles. Oh, and the White man danced long before this.
Definitely not the berth of rave culture, this is AFTER the Chicago Dj's showed up and taught them how to mix, and allot more than that. Stuff that was already two years old in Chicago (multiple beat layering). And never came above what was going on in Chicago turntablism. It started in Chicago New Wave clubs not House clubs.
Don't get me wrong... Chicago DJ's are great. But even Julian Jumpin' Perez and Bad Boy Bill in the mid-80's didn't receive any accolades as performers or as recording artists until 1992, when they started doing radio play. The Manchester DJ's in 1988 were the very first in history to get radio play and sell out club venues. London, New York, LA, and Chicago followed suit in 92', literally taking House DJ's from the house parties/high school dances, and into mainstream radio and record deals.
