Mahalo for the video. I’ve been contemplating buying a 2005 vibe with 153,000 on it for $33,000. I have a 2004 RAV4 but I want to do some car camping without taking out seats. The suv works but kinda squishy. I love how the seats go flat as tho they are not even there. I’m so torn right now tho. I love my Rav 4! Lol. What to do? Much aloha! 🌈🌺❤️🙏

I bought one when my daughter was in kindergarten. She is now in her final year of college and she drives it everyday. Approx 250000 and still kicking. She never wants to get rid of it.

My husband and I bought 2 vibes this year as commuting cars. One 2004 and a 2010. They’ve been great, and I 100% agree they are the most reliable ride on a budget!

Shocked my mechanic today when he asked if I had changed my brake pads in march based on the wear and told him they were factory installed. This car will run FOREVER with good maintenance, and the manual version is sporty enough to get off the blocks and make riced-out civic drivers cry into their pillows.

you can remove the light fuse marked DRL(daytime running light) if you have one and the lights will be manual operated

My 2005 has almost 300,000 miles and still going strong. I carry luggage on top and firewood in the back as full as I can get it. I've even put a coleman motorcycle back there. Way more room than my honda. And I never forget to turn my lights on, because it's auto.

I am deleting my auto lights. That is one thing I hate with a passion. If it's dark or raining, you should be able to think enough to turn your lights on. .. otherwise it's just dumb.
I bought a 2003 Pontiac vibe in July and it runs amazing , got it for only $1700 , nothing wrong with and had 104,000 miles on it, mine doesn’t have a sun roof tho but has automatic locks and windows

I sold it to a good friend and it's his daughters first car. She's down in Florida driving it.
Now I bought a 2003 Vibe AWD in 2017 that had only 30,000 miles on it. There's about 74,000 miles on it now. I WILL NEVER GET RID OF THIS CAR ! ! !
I’m pretty sure the wiring for power locks is there and you can put it on from another vibe if you’d like
I regret not getting one back in 2010. The car has aged well and will continue to do so...everyone is moving towards crossovers and mid size suvs some are better then others. I'd pick a vibe/matrix over a Hyundai Venue which is an attempt of building a crossover suv on the Hyundai accent platform.
I love my 2009 pontiac vibe it has almost 200,000 miles on it and it still runs great 😊
Is it a sport or regular pontiac vibe? I gotten taken on a rotted subframe im in upstate NY i so need a vehicle im at a loss i always wanted a vibe trying to figure out if i shout look for a sport or a 2.5 engine with a 6 engine i kniw most were 1.8 with a 4 and need automatic as well. Thank you wish i had someone close by like you i could pay to give it a look over uuuhhggg none the less i need one lije now!

Great purchase! I have owned my 2003 Pontiac Vibe since new, its been a great car that now has almost 196K miles on it. I have used it for commuting, my kids drove it for several years and now I use it as my 3rd car. It's been very reliable with mostly just general maintenance required. Good luck with you Vibe!
it's look like a toyota MATRIX, even the engine. i believe there's sort of colaboration between them.
Yea it's the same vehicle with a different exterior and different cooling system setup. That was the only difference. Personally I've always liked the looks of the Vibe much better.

I got a 2003 for $1,200 and it's really a great car! Mines currently sitting at 173,000 miles with no issues whatsoever.
just got me a black 2006 for 1,100 with 98.600 miles. Almost bought one for about the same price with double the miles, Glad i held out and found that one

Hey! I had a 2003 one that got me to 330,000 miles before the oil pump failed. No major repairs throughout it’s life.

I have a 2010 1.8 liter base w/5speed manual. No sunroof, opening rear window or fog lights, but power locks and windows. I bought it from a dealer w/112,000 miles for $5400. Last year the car was made. Best used car I ever owned. If you see one, buy it!
What kind of oil you put in your Vibrator ? Synthetic or dino ?
Synthetic from Costco. I always change at 3k but currently 2100 miles in and oil is still yellow in color and hasn't burned any. I'll probably go to 5k on this one.

Yes. Subaru copied it with their Crosstrek and sold multi-millions. Why did the Vibe not sell as well?
It did sell well, but was ahead of it's time with being a crossover, and then Pontiac folded.
Now days these are as expensive as an actual matrix
The Vibe has always been the one to buy. Price has always been about the same.
Incredibly reliable and great value for money.
Have a 2007 bought in 2010 and the best car I've ever owned. Basic maintenance (oil, air, etc), belts, water pump, alternator and battery. Rated for 1500 pounds towing (really). Can fit in 8foot boards with no problem as front seat folds flat as does the back with seats down. I'm a big guy and there is tons of room (side and head) in this thing. Insane cargo room. Parts are cheap, plentiful and is a Toyota with different cladding and some heating, AC part differences- why did they stop making these? Way ahead of its time. Would love the AWD drive GT with 180hp but discontinued in '07 because of poor sales- WTF? Base engine even has some git and fun on country summer dirt roads or rallying in winter with dedicated snows. Didn't like the body revamp in '09 and nobody else did- do your research GM- and discontinued whole line as a result. A couple of recalls- like everything- but no big deal. Will eventually have to replace but "nothing compares to you"-
I have been looking at a dealer that has a 2007 that's loaded and all the research I've done is telling me to go for it......I'm gonna trade my 2004 outback for it and now I feel confident in that decision.

Your Vibe has the Sun and Sound package. The Preferred Package has power windows, locks, cruise control, keyless entry and daynight mirror.
Our 2005 averages 30 mpg and can get 36 mpg highway. A real plus with $5 gallon gas.
I've had my 2009 1.8L from new. Love it.
i got my 2010 with 75000 kilometers (not miles) at a very reasonable price like all you guys. plans for traveling the whole North America's best destinations

That is so true. At 3000 miles mine was still yellow in color. And the tailpipe doesn't have one bit of carbon in it.
I have a 2005 Vibe with a little over 265,000 miles on it mainly have had to take care of the brakes/rotors, wheel bearings, cooling fan, and the battery and alternator (that failed the day I made this comment but was replaced the same day). Pretty good semi-spacious whip the engine is very reliable💯 happy to drive this as my daily driver
I bought an '03 Vibe in '08 and it's still going strong in '22. The only major repairs in 14 yrs, new alternator and starter. I've also recently had the front suspension replaced because 10+ yrs on a dirt road takes it's toll. I love my Vibe!
Huh, a base model without the Power Group but did have the Moon & Tunes package. Interesting.

@@TheAdventureAuto I love crank windows, because [1] they can be opened and closed without having to put the key in the ignition (or start the car via push button), and [2] it's super easy and quick to open the window a tiny bit to let air in, when parking in the hot sun, while opening a power window just a tiny bit can require multiple attempts (opening and closing it several times), and often won't allow a window to open just a crack.
Married into it, my wife's ride which has also become our family vehicle. 2004 Matrix has really grown on me and I really can't believe how simple but reliable this car has been. I've had to fix a few minor things but again,the point is "I" could fix it on my own. Very easy car to maintain, comparable in storage space to most small SUVs, and riding height is higher then most cars. Don't know it will die

Bought an 05 vibe with 44,000km for $4200 CAD 3 years ago, unfortunately the 4 wheel drive has parts that need repairs that are gonna cost upwards of $1000 (not worth it)! So I just bought an 08 Vibe (front wheel drive this time) with 103,000km! Can’t wait to pick it up this weekend!
My dad also has a 2010 vibe and we have a running joke that we call all other vibes brothers and we call the matrix our cousins haha

Love my AWD Vibe. Some weird stuff like the daytime running lights, puny horn, but all part of the charm. I'm slowly modding mine out and plan to keep it forever. Like a mini-min van.

Exact same radio that’s in my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am with the 3.4 V6 motor. The radio for being stock is a fantastic radio that’s hard to find in cars today and the stock system and speakers actually sound good of course not as good as a dedicated system with amps and subs but it gets the job done.
Love my 2005 Base Vibe. I have 237k miles. Great car! I bought almost 2 years ago.
To turn off the lights just use your handbrake And tape a led light over the sensor 🤣😉
The handbrake trick doesn't work :(. This car is so weird there's no way around it.
I love my 2005 Vibe. I did have to replace engines. Cheaper than a new car. But they’re peppy, great on gas and ROOMY !!! Wish I could get a new one

I own one, mine is a base as well no power locks, power windows, or cruise. Ive owned for 3 years now, everything that ive done to it is painted the roof rack bars from the silver that stands out, to flat black, the 3 chromed dashboard rings front of the steering wheel painted that too (the sun shining on them was annoying). Tinted the windows, replaced the engine belt tensioner. Added cruise control switch to have cruise, my rear view mirror didnt have built in lights like other vibes, so i bought one off ebay and wired it now i have extra lighting up front where it was needed when door(s) get opened, also installed led bulbs (sylvania) for interior lights, wow much brighter! Front brake pads n rotors, all 4 struts (easy), flushed out coolant, replaced knock sensor, with the air intake manifold off to replace that sensor i replaced intake gasket with orange upgraded version and also cleaned throttle body beings it had to come off. Just recently put new lower control arms with ball joints haha i think thats it, I think i set for awhile. Oh and i can disable the drl by pulling up on park brake lever up on one click. I usually get 33-36 mpg (automatic transmission).
Wow that's awesome! You've done a lot to your Vibe and given me some great ideas for mine. Maintenance seems somewhat easy on this car which is nice.
@@TheAdventureAuto I don't think i would of needed to do all the replacing of suspension parts had it not been driven mostly on gravel roads.

I have 2004 same color vibe but has power locks and windows. It also came with a remote control starter! Love my vibe. I bought it in 2012 or 13 am still have it!
Honestly i wish every vehicle still had crank windows. Dealing with window regulators and replacing burned out motors is a pain in the ass. It's a bonus if you ask me.
I agree. On a day where it's pouring rain I have no issue w water getting onto the inside of the door because there's nothing to break lol
I bought an 04 GT manual with the 2zz motor about six years ago. It now has over 206k miles on it and the only issue I've had was a worn out throw out bearing. A couple months ago we picked up an 06 with the 1zz and manual for my wife. Great cars. They're basically a Toyota Matrix with Pontiac badges and the Matrix is built on the Corolla which is easily the most reliable car on the road. The lay flat rear seat makes for an amazing amount of cargo room.

I told myself I am keeping my Pontiac vibe for good.Now my wife uses it for business purposes with folded seats she can carry anything she wants.For travelling purposes we mostly prefer to use the vibe instead of the Toyota Corolla S because of the larger space the vibe has.It currently has 200,890 miles on the odometer and still runs like new with good engine sound.
That "Eat your lunch" is actually also a computer table (see outlet) & a place to put your pillow on as you sleep on the flat deck.
I am looking to buy a new car (used) and just found out about this and the Matrix. I had a Subaru Outback before but the head gasket blew. I love Subaru but I'm nervous about getting another one and having the head gasket blow again. I need space, and this looks really dope. It's on my list now for sure, you have convinced me.
It's a great vehicle for sure! So practical and affordable. In regards to Subaru, there's no other brand that I have heard such bad things, but also great things. I hear about head gasket issues and coolant leaks from so many, but then people who swear by them. Personally I wouldn't buy a Subaru.

The car will drive the same, the odometer just stops increasing at 299,999.

@@TheAdventureAuto it’s a very light duty box designed for the Corolla. Add the extra weight of the vibe/matrix plus a 2000 lb tow rating and it wears out quick.

We have a 06 Vibe base the same sunroof and sound system as ours.. We're the 2nd owner and we bought it in 2007 with 33k miles and it has been our daily driver since the day we bought it and we've taken it on too many road trips to count. Today is April 1, 2021 and it has 219k+ with no problems. The only thing it needs is a new paint job and I want to replace the radio/cd player with one that has Bluetooth or USB. The radio/cd player is great, sounds better then most new cars, it just i want Bluetooth or USB for my music. I think Toyota should've kept the Vibe/Matrix going. What they've replace it with two different cars:. Corolla Hatchback and the C-HR, are not as good. Corolla HB is too cramped and the C-HR...well it's a mess
The Corolla Hatchback used to be called the Scion iM !

The Scion iM became the Toyota Corolla iM. The Corolla Hatchback was completely redesigned. The Corolla iM and Corolla Hatchback were for sale at the same time. I guess it takes a year or so to get the supply chain stopped haha.
Edit: The Corolla iM ended in 18 and Corolla HB came out in 19. Overlap on the dealer lots*

My average mpg after 4200 miles is 26.5. Best ever is 32.2. I drive slow to moderate. No way this car will ever get 29/36

you could place a garmin stand alone GPS on the dash, that will calculate miles driven if your odometer crashes into the 299,999 wall
I sold it to a good friend of mine, so his problem now :D. He moved from Ohio to Florida and drove it down, so he's putting the miles on it fast. It still probably has 10 years to go before the wall becomes a problem.

I would replace the intake manifold gasket and clean out the ports with brake clean. My gasket was toast I caught it before I got a light but yours even has 20,000 more miles than mine.
I got a 2009 GT with 143,000 miles in October and had to replace a leaking head gasket- no light came on Goodyear saw it when I took it for inspection. Suspension parts had to be replaced as well.
I believe the GT came with the 2AZ-FE engine. Those had more power but we're plagued with oil burning issues and various other problems. First gens and 1.8 engines were the Vibes that were indestructible.
So now that you're done Vibing, when are ya gonna introduce us to your all-electric dragster!? 😂
I've been wanting to for a while, trust me. Have been a bit lazy. I still drive the Vibe on occasion. Mainly short trips to the grocery store to avoid pesky door dings, and I let friends borrow it when they have car trouble. The Tesla is such a great car tho. I can never go back to gas. EVs are just too easy to live with.
@@TheAdventureAuto - Right there with you, man lol. I've been horribly lazy in the video-making department. But yeah, it's good to keep a 3rd car around in case you ever need a backup. Not sure how bad the winters get in Kentucky, but the Vibe would be a perfect car for those awful winter days when you don't want some ding dong sliding uncontrollably into your nice new car. Would love to see the Tesla when you get the chance!

They burn oil like mad! Don't purchase unless they were made past 2010. Toyota, had recall only on their 07's and 09's for the 2.4AZ engine. Don't buy these vehicles and don't buy a VIBE. You will have oil burning and transmission problems, light and everything else. The contract toyota made with GM was their biggest mistake, and their biggest mistake in making these 2.4 AZ engines.
I have never heard more false statements. My Vibe didn't burn a drop between 3k mile oil changes, and my parents who bought theirs brand new in 04 have same experience. The 1.8 liter engine is bulletproof. Same with the 4 speed transmissions. Maybe there was a bad year or two but overall it is known for being extremely reliable.
Our 2006 which we bought used in 2007 and kept until 2021 never burned a drop of oil. It was the smaller engine with auto trans.
Our 1.8 needs no Oil added in 5k mile intervals. You must of got a bad one. I’m at 253k miles now.
There was one year I believe he is referring to. Generally the 1.8 uses no oil. It will be a sad day for you when the odometer hits 299,999 and stops.
I just got one with 63 k miles I do like it but am worried about the snow any vibe owner out there can tell how it handled the snow please
Get snow tires. Mine didn't have antilock brakes but w snow tires it handled perfectly even on icy mixes.

@@TheAdventureAuto Ever had Any steering issues? Everything checked out but it Def has a steering issue slightly stiff turning, pulls right driving, and steering wheel centers off right idk cause the suspension front end looks good underneath and maybe the sunroof down the road

Yea I'm packing it full of furniture right now. I hauled wood home with it the other day. Just a quick vacuum afterwards and it's all clean again. I love this thing.
